Russian invasion of Ukraine | Fewer tweets, more discussion

Eastern Ukraine under Russian control then what would happen to Kiev?
Kiev would have a pro Russian government essentially. Anyone whom is pro western would have to move to Lviv.

No, thats not where the money goes (at least not enough of it to be the real problem).
The main problem is, that to much money is used for bad contracts with suppliers to support companies (Airbus, Heckler&Koch etc.), do structural support in weak regions in Germany and support an enormous administrational overhead of the Bundeswehr to pander to them as a voter base. And both main partys (SPD and CDU/CSU) have done that over decades and instead of keeping the Bundeswehr ready to fulfill its main function.

That is why we are where we are. The basic problem is the same all over Germany; everything feels less effective. There are more and more regulations and more and more responsibilities and everything takes longer and longer. This has been a development for decades, and in the Bundeswehr, no one really knows who is responsible for what or who controls anything at all. And most people in Germany basically don't give a shit.

Which is a bad joke on two fronts. We spent between 30 and 40 billion every year on our military, that's not nothing. We probably have to increase that spending, but there is really no excuse to be in this state with a budget like that, absolute none, I have no idea where the money goes but apparently not into the equipment of the soldiers, so questions have to be asked what our military spends their money on, absolute travesty.
Administration, Office clerks everywhere, Consulting, Facility Management, office and IT equipment (like PCs and screens), Logistics, Procurement Processes, Universities, Schools (Berufsschulen), Fleet management, R&D, Salaries for the solders etc... There is plenty of money gone before we actually get to the weapons, weapon systems and tactical gear.

I see. Based on very limited knowledge I can't see Putin taking the whole of Ukraine. Which would mean that physically (militarily) it could be over sooner than later.

Can't see that anyone has posted this. Ukraine airforce has hit back within Russia itself.

Seriously, how is Belarus escaping attention/sanctions? They are acting as a free staging area for these forces.

If Kiev falls, would it even be possible to end the invasion without military intervention from the allied nations?

I think it must be this driver that was run over by the tank? It says Obolon but maybe that is in Kyiv.

This thread show the Russian propaganda is working great in the west some of the posts are nothing short of a disgrace.

People posting it’s commendable the Russians are outside the capital, give your head a wobble let’s hope you are never put in this situation in your lifetime.

I think we seriously need to rethink our relationships with Russia, China and India in the future.

If the three of them come together.. well...:nervous:

I thought some Chechens were fighting with Ukraine, unless that was just rumours yesterday.
There are Chechens whom served in the first and second Chechen wars whom fought as volunteers against DNR, LNR separatists. Now they fight amongst Ukrainian army.

Kadyrov and his army are under Putin though.
