The price good men pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men

Why is it such a big deal for western media? Russia has nukes stationed in Kaliningrad since forever, which is even closer to the west than Belarus. All it achieves is keeping Putin's big red button in people's mind and that only helps him. If the Media would start to ignore him and his threats, we would already weaken his influence on some western people.

If I am not mistaken this is the first time that Russia moves nukes to a different country, which signals a shift in policy/doctrine.

This is at least an interestimf development, although it might not be one to worry about - at least not more or less than one should worry about Russian nukes anyway.

It feels like the western world has gotten used to Russia's terror. The international answer on Russia's recent attacks on grain silos and ports so far is absolutely pathetic. There isn't even talk about new sanctions, just the usual empty talk "we condemn it blabla". Russia endagers global food security, prices will rise and the world simply accepts it. Erdogan already urges to address Russia's demands to continue the deal.

How about deny Russia the entry into black sea as long as they continue to attack food supply? If they don't allow Ukraine to feed the world, neither should we allow their ships to trade. Eye for an eye. Is it too much to ask to resist Putin on equal terms? What will he do? Attack Turkey, a Nato partner over some grain ships? He would rant and threat, but he could do nothing to prevent it. Incomprehensible for me that even such a step is out of the question. How much terror and misery is Putin allowed to bring until such actions are on the table?

So nearly 18 months in the sanctions are doing feck all
I’m not sure that’s true. Lots of articles on reputable websites saying the opposite. This is from yesterday.

As with the actual fighting, there seems to be an impatience from people looking on but sanctions don’t change things immediately. It’s fair to say there’s a wealth of data that proves they have weakened Russia considerably already and will continue to do so.

Depends on what you expect them to do. It fecked Russian economy right, left & centre. The issue is, Putin doesn't care about it much (unlike democratically elected presidents) and he's the guy with the big red button.

It's just infuriating that they can still wage a very effective war in Ukraine and get away with terror attacks daily.

How long can this go on!

Wouldn't even need to stop Russian ships for this to have an effect it would be enough if western ships stopped the shipping of Russian oil.

As people said, the Russian people will get poor, but the dictator will still be comfortable and do whatever he still wants to do. Sanctions hardly works against any regime who does not give a single feck about their country long term.

Read a report awhile ago that their oil price was getting higher than the cap.

Greece reportedly also blocked further EU sanctions, didn't they?

Why the full sanctions didn't all go into affect right away? Why this gradual approach ? Basically Ruskis had time to adjust for each "sanction package".

Because sanctions also have a detrimental effect on the countries that impose them, they also needed the time to adjust

White House says Russia is preparing for attacks on civilian ships in Black Sea.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Days after Russia suspended participation in a wartime deal that allowed grain to flow from Ukraine to countries around the world, the White House on Wednesday warned that the Russian military is preparing for possible attacks on civilian shipping vessels in the Black Sea. Since leaving the Black Sea Grain Deal this week, Russia has already struck Ukraine’s grain export ports in Odesa with missile and drone attacks. Some 60,000 tons of grain were destroyed in the attacks.

“Our information indicates that Russia laid additional sea mines in the approaches to Ukrainian ports,” White House National Security Council spokesman Adam Hodge said in a statement. “We believe that this is a coordinated effort to justify any attacks against civilian ships in the Black Sea and lay blame on Ukraine for these attacks.”

Anybody up for coffee or tea? Apparently a real place in Banja Luka

They probably hit a secret bio lab, where Ukraine is trying to clone Hitler, disguised as a cathedral. But I'm sure, the west will condemn it.

Navalny slams invasion of Ukraine

During the closed-door hearing on Thursday, Navalny condemned Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

His aides passed on the Kremlin critic's statement to the outside world.

Navalny said that Russia is "floundering in a pool of either mud or blood, with broken bones, with a poor and robbed population, and around it lie tens of thousands of people killed in the most stupid and senseless war of the 21st century."

The Kremlin denies persecuting Navalny, and claims his case is a matter for the courts to decide.

Russia found a gap in Ukr AD with these Oryx missiles and still avoiding strategic targets like the plague.
