Rugby world cup

The Irish pack starting to turn the screws now

feck!!!! O Driscoll could have had a chance of a try if that kick had gone into his hands after hitting the post

Ireland doing well!! Hope we don't regret the missed penos

feck we need o Driscoll back in quick

My heart won't be able to take this if it keeps going this close, 12-6 to ireland now though

This is the Irish team we know and love back again!

oh im getting piss drunk today for sure!!!!!

Brilliant performance from the Irish. Dominated the game up front.

To be honest I had written us off, but what a bloody win! Amazing.

Pack were outstanding. Bring it on after that!!

I am ashamed as Irish man to not even knowing we were playing today and someone has only just told me the result.

But well done.

Rugby I just dont get it

I never watched or played rugby when I was a young fella, but I love it now. It's the one sport where we can truely compete with the best in the world at a global stage. When there is a big game on and Ireland are rocking there is no better time stand in a pub and enjoy it. Everyone get's involved, even those who normally wouldn't watch sport at all. You should give it a go RF.

rugby is great, its one of the few sports where ireland can compete at the highest level and shine on a world stage. and this current irish pack has the potential to be the best we have ever seen too, if it all comes together then there could be exciting times ahead in irish rugby

Problem is though that we haven't performed in the past when expectation levels were high and they're going to be high after todays win against the tri-nation winners.
Hope they can keep their feet on the ground.

Just seen the score now, what a win for Ireland. I was going to get up this morning to watch it but figured it would be an easy win for the Aussies so didn't bother. Go on and win the group now to set up an Aus/SA QF.

If we can go through and win the group we'd have Wales or Samoa in the quarters, both of whom we'd be favourites against. Then we'd likely have the winner of France and England, both of whom we'd arguably be underdogs against but who can be beaten. There's a chance there to go all the way to the final. It won't be easy but on our side of the draw (if we qualify first) there isn't one outstanding team.

This is where on of our problems lies, we usually drop our standards when we are favourites. Thats why today suited us perfectly and you could see this in the intensity and high tempo of the game.

Congratulations to Ireland.

Very impressive, gutsy, determined win.

Australia? Deans is a joke. Cooper's flick pass, a joke. Penalties conceded, a joke.

Disgusted. Don't think we stand a chance at winning this. If we scrape through the quarter finals, we'll be bundled out by New Zealand quite quickly.

That Tri-Nations game was a fluke. On the back of Queensland Red's euphoria in winning the Super 15, we nabbed a game versus the Kiwis.

Not so when we play again.

We (Wales) were very lucky tonight. Played poorly but scraped a win, the exact opposite of the SA game. If we can get through the next two then I'm very much looking forward to the Wales-Ireland QF

England a nice solid performace this morning. I reckon this is the most even World cup I've seen. No one team has really been head and shoulders above the rest.

Fooled me, all the games I really saw of Aus was the Reds winning the super 15s and Aus beating NZ and SA, thought they were fantastic. Not so the other day, fecked by the Irish forwards and couldn't get their backs going at all, Cooper's show boating didn't help.

England pretty poor, yet still winning 41-10, I'll take it.

That was an amazing result for Ireland. We need to keep it up and get the result needed to beat Italy.

Beating Australia and ensuring all the southern hemisphere teams are in one half of the draw is a fantastic achievement. It'll also most likely mean that one of England, France or even Ireland (sorry Wales) are in the final. Brilliant.
