Rugby world cup

This is why, I'll never have too much sympathy for South African rugby, no matter how badly they think they got done.

Look at the number 7 - dirty prick.

Well then you shouldn't be watching rugby. There's a lot of dirty play going on without you seeing it on TV from ALL teams. It's part and parcel of the game.

Plus he's well within his rights there. The rucks been formed. It's called cleaning out a ruck. Jeez, even studs are used at times to clean out the ruck area. So yeah, much of a point you have there.

Watch plenty of rugby, Tri-nations mostly. What he is doing IS NOT just cleaning out a ruck. Yes...we've all seen the vision of players raking the backs and legs of players to get them to clear the ruck, so that possession isn't slowed down - but if you think raking his face, semi gouging him is acceptable - yeah I'm afraid I'm a softy.

Plus your man Burger has history for his sort of thing.

I hope it is reviewed and he gets cited for it.

South Africa should be in the semi's today. We absolutely dominated the game in every facet but did not convert our domination into points which is unlike a bok team. Forward passes, knock-on's at crucial moments. I don't know why we didn't go for the drop option more often. It really is weird, we lost and yet I can't recall when last we've outplayed Australia like that. Oh well.

Maybe you thought a draw was enough to get you through.

 Lawrence is standing right there and he does nothing. In fact, the Aussie players do nothing. I guess they all disagree with you. And Burger has calmed down bucket loads from a rash young self. Plus, I'm willing to bet you he won't get cited. Not much wrong with what he does. And yes, it is cleaning out the ruck. Pocock shouldn't be in there in the first place. The ruck is formed. His hands should be off the ball. Burger tried to pull him round his neck but he stood firm. Anyway, wouldn't matter. You've made up you mind, havn't you?

The English love an inquiry. Whenever they lose in a tournament, they get a committee together to see why they lost and see whose fault it was so they can be fired. Or blamed in the media. Lose in the World Cup? Let's get a group together to find out why. Lose in Rugby? Do the same. Meanwhile, they refuse to make any concrete changes in terms of football. It's ridiculous.

Losing in a tournament doesn't require a full investigation.

Too right - Brilliant from England.

Plan for 3 and a half years ahead, stumble through your group, face the first side with any real balls, get 16-0 down 24 minutes from time and then decided you'd better start playing :wenger: .......duuuur

This world cup has been about arrogance from us the

"it'll be alright on the night when we decide to want to get on with it" has been there for the last two years and we got exactly what you will get when you start believing the hype

Bizarrely Johnson has been exactly like Capello was last year - when it came to the crunch he's been devoid of ideas tactically and 'real' man management.

Odd that, but still the exact same result

Yeah, there's not much wrong there. He's just clearing him out, but he's in a bad position, which is why the number 5 comes in to sort it out. There's no gouging of any sort going on there.

Come on Wales!!
Really hope they go on to win the whole thing. Who knows what version of France will show up this morning!

Very, definetly didn't deserve a red, there was nothing dangerous in it it was just a tough tackle.

Incredible, France are now battering them.

Poor decision to send Warburton off. May have been a dangerous tackle, but he didn't exactly dump him. Yellow card would have been fine.

Hook needs to start kicking his goals, we need him to convert everything.

Wales looking like they've recovered now. Seemed shellshocked for about 10 minutes after their cap was sent off.

Still think Warburtons tackle was reckless and dangerous. Yellow would suffice, but it is not something to complain about when you break the rules and are punished.

They just read out the relevant law on RTE and it seems that the ref was justified in seeing that tackle as dangerous play.
Looking at the replays, I don't think Warburton meant to injure or hurt the player but it was definitely a dangerous tackle.

Was always taught when playing that you don't lift someone in the tackle or it'll be cited as dangerous play and you'll be sent off.

Seemed a bit harsh but I don't understand what he was doing. Asked the ref to make a decision when he could have just flattened the bloke.

Think they'll be fine there. The bigger problem is that France only have to find the gap where the missing player is once and it's game over.

They had a perfect opportunity for a drop goal there before they knocked on.

I don't understand why they brought Jones on if he hasn't got the balls to take a shot. I cannot fathom why he didn't drop for a drop goal a few minutes ago.

Awful by Jones. They weren't making any yards. He needed to put everything into a drop goal attempt at the end.

The French were willing to bottle it but the Welsh had poor game management at the end there, ended up going backwards with the forwards because the ball was so slow.

It was never really on to be fair. They were playing through for better position or hoping for a penalty. English are obsessed with drop goals.

Unlucky Wales anyway.

France have to be the worst team ever to get to a World Cup final. England weren't great four years ago but they had to show a lot more to get there than France have.

Really hope NZ or Aus roll over the French, they arent a good team.
