Rugby World Cup 2015 | Reminiscing Thread

A coaching whore if they was ever one. Lancaster hasnt even had his review yet, and him and Jones are already lining up.

I thought about our little discussion when I saw the quotes, and I'm a MHRC supporter.

He'd only last a no more than two years if his last two head coaching job albeit at Super Rugby level are anything to go by.

Australia are the favourites in this tournament..in form, talented, what can stop them? Apparently they have also won every world cup in the British isles.
If by some miracle Wales beat them then Wales get to avoid SA and NZ down the line, I think Australia have turned up just at the right time with their form coming into this tournament. Much is made about NZ and yes they are ridiculously brilliant and yes they are current world champs but they have bottled it on many occasions in the past, Australia seem to be unhindered by that psyche, as Saturday's display would suggest. Either way, whichever route they take I think they'll be there for the final, if they beat Wales (likely) then I fancy a NZ-Aus

If the Wallabies make the final and avoid the All Blacks in the final, i think they'd win the whole thing.

@JPRouve MHRC is his current club right? Montpellier? It does really matter whether he has a contract elsewhere, he'd just walk, see the Brumbies as an example.

@Mitchell Nicholas He doesnt really play the kind of rugby that England havent been trying to implement over the last few years. So playing wise, it would be a step back.

They are peaking at the right time, I'd expect them to beat Wales, comfortably at that too.

Yes, it's his current job and unfortunately for him, he has a contract and the owner is a ruthless billionaire. It's going to be ugly.

Make him squirm ...you cant keep signing contracts and walking away at a whim...He quit the Brumbies after failing to get the Australia job, and it was evident that they had planned for a future that included him.

The same thing is happening here, he applied for the France job, now he is flurting with the RFU. If Altrad acts like he usually does he will ask a huge fee to the RFU or refuse to let White go. But we are not there yet.

He doesnt seem to be one to stick to a contract..I cant see the RFU paying the amounts asked..I think Lancaster will survive though..the 72 hours after getting knocked out are the most dangerous..once that passes, people start to think rationally. As for Jake, he is desperate for an International job. But the NZ one is out of the picture, SA wont have him and he couldnt get the Aus one..thats why he is trying his luck in Europe now. He is annoying.

He really is annoying, which is a shame because he is an excellent coach but no one can trust him.

He's a good coach but his arrogance increased tenfold after his world cup win(understandable yes, but quite annoying).

Is there a chance of getting the French job? Has any foreigner ever got that job?

No, he had absolutely no chance, the FFR appointed Guy Noves. It might be arrogant to say that but the TOP 14 is the best league and we have enough great managers to not select a foreigner. The only exceptions will be Cheika, Joe Schmidt and Vern Cotter because they are really liked in France, I would add Quesada but he is almost french.

So he has no chance in France too? :lol:One of the biggest reasons he didnt get the Australia job seems to have been his nationality, especially on the back of the failures of the cricket and football teams in Australia led by foreign coaches, so they was that factor against him. He has burnt all bridges in SA, so that is out of the question. Maybe Wales after Gatland?

He comes across as a mercenary of sorts, he wants that job so badly that he seems willing to do anything to get it. Its been 8 years since his last international job, and that is a long time in rugby.

Also, in Australia how the game is played is just if not more important than just winning. I have no doubt Jake White would have got the Wallabies winning, it wouldn't have been pretty and when you're competing with Aussie Rules (AFL) and Rugby League for fans, you need not only a winning team, but one that wins with style and Jake White probably would not have provided that.

On a side note, I heard that Clive Woodward applied for the France job, apparently a lot of current and "ancient" big coaches wanted that job.

Yes, his rugby is "not aesthetically pleasing " to say the least. He didnt really have to worry about that when he was SA coach, as no league exists. He's running out of major countries to coach. Maybe Japan , with Jones leaving.

The rumor says that they are after John McKee.

He isnt retired? He last coached internationally over a decade ago..the game has moved on. Whats the attraction with the French team? Good pay, good Federation?

I don't know, PSA is paid 25k per month.

The thing is France have a lot of quality players, if the manager find a way to emulate the All Black system (training camps, game time management), we should have the most talented and deepest roster in Rugby, it is said that Noves found an arrangement with the clubs, so we will see.

European clubs though tend to have much greater say than Southern Hemisphere ones for example. Like the time when all the All Blacks didnt play in Super Ruby, that would much more difficult in Europe. So they will always be that challenge.

Yeah that's a problem, the All Blacks are, if I'm not mistaken, partially paid by the federation, I don't think that it is the case in Europe. In Europe the players are totally "owned" by their clubs, they have no reasons to rest them or transform them in what the national team need.

In Australia and SA too..although that has its own problems(losing players to Europe where they can get better wages), and in future, it looks like most players for Aus and SA at least may come from European clubs as they are relaxing the foreign league ruling. Just cant compete with the money offered.

14-0 , Japan need the USA to make some sort of comeback here, and then lose to them a few days later to go through...or hope Samoa do them a huge favour.

Oh well :D

Where does this leave SA now? It was pretty comprehensive against Scotland so I think they're a bit of an unknown quantity now. Have they turned the corner or are the Scots really poor..

The Scots arent the greatest, so it isnt the best measure...but to come back from that Japanese humiliation is something. SA lost against Aus in the last 5 minutes just a few months ago, so they arent that bad. Its which SA will show up that is the issue.

Final score : SA 64-0 USA
  • 6' Damian de Allende
  • 26' Penalty Try
  • 41' Bryan Habana
  • 46' Bismarck Du Plessis
  • 52' Francois Louw
  • 58' Bryan Habana
  • 60' Bryan Habana
  • 68' Francois Louw
  • 72' Jesse Kriel
  • 80' Lwazi Mvovo
They top their group and face the loser of the Wales v Australia match.

I am watching. Not sure why, since I grasp a lot of knowledge about the game. To be fair, the way the players interact and respect the ref is great, especially the on board camera and microphone are very impressive.

Jesus christ!! We (Georgia) make so many unnecessary mistakes!
