Rugby World Cup 2007

we still dont have a proper replacement for Stringer

i completely disagree with that, redden was easily our man of th ematch yesterday....
he has more creativity in his left ear than stringer has in his whole body.... redden will be our first team scrum half from now on....

regarding the match and th egroup standings, i reckon we are fecked.... the only way we could get out is to beat the argie and score 4 tries in the process and not let them finish within 7 points of us....
impossible going on current form... i personally think argentina will beat us... setting up a quarter final teamup of France versus the all blacks... that would be good!!

Guess it's do or die then ehh for the Irish against the Argies??? As for the All Blacks vs. Scotland, I'm expecting a hammering. Even though the likes of Mils, Jerry Collins and Chris Jack isn't playing, there's still loads of quality in that team.

Agreed, I'm especially looking foward to Smith and McAllister playing well at 12 and 13.

I tried this earlier in a rugby thread.

Can someone quickly tell me who the best rugby nations out there are? I know it`s a World Cup so it`s too soon to tell, but who would you say are the Brazil, Argentina and Italy of Rugby?

Ok, so when England won it in 03 was it like Greece winning the Euro? Or are they more like underdogs ala Holland in football?

It's currently NZ, the Aussies, South Africa and possibly France. Back in 2003, England had the likes of Martin Johnson and Ben Cohen as well who were class, class players. Josh Lewsey today is a shadow of his former self. Jason Robinson had an excellent tournament. Of course the 2003 World Cup Final was also played in wet conditions which made ball handling difficult and was tailor-made for the kicking game as proven by only 2 tries in the game from Jason Robinson and Lote Tuqiri. We of course know that Wilkinson is one of the best kickers in the world, probably still is and that game was tailor made for him.

England won against Samoa, 44-22. Wilkinson with 24 points from 3 conversion, 4 penalties and 2 drop goals.

Argentina won 63-3 against Namibia and scored 9 tries. So Ireland need to win and win big against them or if not the Argies are thru. France are surely expected to win against Georgia.

Good to see Murphy back in the Irish Team. Always thought he was a better player then Dempsey.Have been crying ot for him to come into the team sooner.

In relation to Reddan - jury is still out on him imo. Anyhow the Irish are fecked and I will be fecked with them in Paris this weekend. Off on Friday for 4 days.

You need to give the Argies a seriously good trashing in order to go thru. Getting a bonus point means you'll be level on points. But they have more points scored though.

Does it not go on form against.

We'll need a miracle.

From what I heard - which is alot as I know a few of the panel from a certain Ulster Club, but O'Gara is getting no support from outside the Munster players, Isaac Boss and Neil Best have come to blows no fewer then 4 times, and Roan O'Gara shares a mistress with Brian Ashton, he cries during sex and JP McManus paid a £1 million debt he had to a Cork Bookie.

Not good, I'll try and get some photos and post them on Tuesday when I'm back.

Have you heard?

The IRB have apparently told the Tongan players to dye their hair back to its natural colour or face expulsion from the tournament?

The fact that it is a completely disproportionate response and uncalled for need not be said really, talk about the IRB missing the point though.

well, if the IRB want to dictate to the tongans how to wear their hair, the least they can do is pay them the £110,000 they owe them to date......

typical snooty fecks!!!

Ireland have to win by 7 points and score 4 tries, correct? Doesn't seem impossible but seems very improbable. It is only rugby though...!

Even if Ireland do all that it could still be taken out of their hands, if the French geta bonus point in their game so i heard earlier today.

Wales out of the World Cup, losing 38-34 to Fiji. Scots barely made it thru, scoring 6 penalties to win it by 18-16 with the Italians missing a penalty with 4 minutes left.

What an absolutely brilliant try from Argentina. Surely the best in the tournament so far.

18-10 for the argies at half time.

14 minutes left. 27-15 for Argentina.

France - New Zealand should be a cracker.

Ireland were a shambles yet again

this was supposed to be the best squad of players Ireland had ever assembled

Eddie O'Sullivan has brought this team as far as he can and should resign immediately

France vs All Blacks should be a cracker. Looking forward to a replay between Masoe and Chabal, if Masoe plays that is. Chabal and Jerry Colling going up against each other should be fun as well.

Hands up!..... earlier on, in this thread, I called it !......(ssshhhh! ireland to win world cup)..ssssshhhh!, ......please, give us a break!........please !...... The 2 men that make any team "click" are of course, "the srum & out-half'(9 & 10)" .....trust our 2, to be absolutely total shite, in fact bloody disastarous!....Strings was deservedely dropped, ROG should have followed, RAPIDLY !:annoyed:
Anyway good luck to all, especially the "Argies"....... would be the shot in the arm Rugger needs to bring it onto even NEWER levels /pastures!

To be fair, Ireland had a tough group.

true but it also exposes how bad the 6 nations is as a competition......Ireland have consistently pissed on the likes of England, Wales & Scotland over the last few years with France being their main nemesis yet when it comes to the World Cup they were exposed brutally.......the World Cup is a big step up from the 6 nations...........England & Scotland will soon find that out

Scotland was very, very lucky to get thru against the Italians. They must be happy as well to be facing the Pumas, rather than the French

Not looking down on the Pumas or anything, but I reckon them beating the French on the opening day, might be a one-off thing. The French has class players with the likes of Michalak, Dominici and "The Caveman" Chabal.

Anyone saw Takudzwa Ngwenya's try against South Africa. Arguably one of the best tries in the tournament so far. The guy basically burned Bryan Habana for pace and Habana's no slouch either. Reminded me of Rupeni's try in the 2003 World Cup against France.

Takudzwa

Rupeni

Two great tries....

but on the pumas...
They have the player of the tournament so far with Hernandez....
pichot at scrum half is also up there.....

at the end of the day the pumas will put up a good fight in the semis... whereas france will be going out in the quarter finals....

pumas will beat scotland by more than 20 points....
