Rugby World Cup 2007

feck me, that was a battering

Springboks never got into anything like top gear, in fact were quite sloppy, and yet totally raped us. Their kicking was superb, they were the first to every loose ball, cracking work from their flankers and good rucking generally.

We have no pace, no invention whatsoever, no belief

Not counting Robinson. Really courageous performance, great player he's been.

I actually thought Farrell was decent with the ball in his hand, his passing was largely good... kicking was crap though.

Thought England was going to get a try towards the end. Got very close didn't they but the Springboks defence held out very well. And this was a Springboks side playing without the likes of Burger and De Villiers ain't it??

My god, even Portugal can get a try against NZ, yet we can't even get a point against South Africa.

The Irish team is full of gimps at the moment. How many times do you want to kick the ball away? Against fecking Georgia! A team with no discernible technical ability we decided we'd go head to head in the forwards rather than carve them up. The passing was woeful, the tactics were woeful, the entire performance was embarrassing. They now need to beat France and Argentina to stand a chance of getting through, and if they play like that they'll get pasted. Gimps.

its just a ploy by the team and management to conceal their real strengths

:nervous:

none of the northern hemisphere teams have played well really yet

Marcus, can't think of their name either tho I have them on my mind

I don't follow Rugby that closely, but I do enjoy watching it. And I was wondering why Wales got to plat their match in Wales, when the WC is in France ?

The Argies had a good start but surely they're going to get a batter gin when they meet a proper team like the All Blacks, Wallabies or the Springboks ehh marcos??

If we meet one of the SH teams we will be properly battered, don't forget that we still have to play against ireland and see if we advance to the next stage

Yup, but you still had that win over France. That may turn out to be very important. The Irisih are alright but I reckon they're not much of a threat if O'Driscoll and O'Gara is shut down. Over reliance on them IMO. But no question that O'Driscoll is a class player.

To be fair, you lot struggled against the Georgians for most parts of the game as well bar that barrage of tries toward the end.

yes we did, the only difference is that we played against georgia four days after playing france, with six subs, while georgia played with the 15 regulars

ireland had to play against a team that only rested 4 days, and that made 11 substitutions

hehe ireland heheheheheheheheheeheheheheeheheheheeh

woot! wallabies beat wales at home! good game, watched most of it. berick barnes is really good. set up the first try, and his kicking game was pretty good as well, not to mention his distribution. larkham can retire now :)

As any American geography student will tell you, Cardiff is a small industrial town 20 miles north of Lyon.

It's all political. The Welsh backed the French bid and got this as a nice little back hander. Not that it did them a lot of good, mind. I thought they played well, but the Australians took their chances and the Welsh didn't. The game itself was quite even.

I think the Scots get a home game to, if I'm not mistaken.

When Ireland beat France next week, all our woes will be forgotten..... I never buy this crap of hammering opposision to a pulp. I am delighted that we got 2 very tough games ( & a serious fright!) from the so called minnows. It is hard-hitting, rough & tumble games like these, that help get you up to the proper pace!
Has anybody noticed the 6 nations teams all seem sluggish ? ...obviously due to the fact that it is only the START of our season in the Northern Hemisphere............so, I feel it's better to get your fright now, & get the rust out of your system.......... Also, no better man to put up a fight, than a wounded Paddy !;)

ps; I put €10e.way on Ire @33/1 to win outright !

Plus you have Shane Horgan :D

Was asleep when the delayed telecast came one yesterday(No live shown as the footy was on). How did Conrad Smith played yesterday kiwi?? Can I look forward to a partnership of him and McAllister in the next game then?? Or is it still going to be him and Mils???

It's often hard to be at your best against minnows but Smith looked great coming back from injury scoring two tries and overall having a decent game in the number 13. As a part Wellingtonian (I'm from the Manawatu which is an hour and half from Wellington) and a big fan of Smith I would certainly hope to see him starting based on last nights performance. Mils actually also picked up an injury after 5 minutes so he might be forced to start anyway

So we'll be looking at Smith at 13 and Macdonald at fullback then?? You think Mauger is going to start ahead of McAllister??

As much as they've played like gimps in this tournament, that's rubbish. Horgan, O'Connell, Hayes, D'Arcy and Stringer are all just as important to the Irish team. O'Driscoll gets a lot of attention because he's probably one of the best centres in the world, but it's not like the game plan is based around him. Any team relies on their kicker, and O'Gara is a fine player, but I don't think he's as important as you suggest.

The Canadians just made life tough for the Fijians. Fijians won by 29-16 but at 22-16 with 1 minute left on the clock where the Canadians had a forward drive up to the Fijians 5 metre line before screwing up and the ball popped up to a the Fijian fullback who ran all the way for a try to end the game up.

France vs Namibia soon.

is it just me, or was everyone else happy when portugal scored against the all blecks? i support the wallabies, i don't bear any allegiance to portugal what so ever, and i knew they wouldn't win, but i did get a bit teary eyed when they crossed over. i'm not gay btw.

thats kinda gay.

Everybody was happy for them, and the crowd gave them an ovation I think but I doubt anybody outside Portugal got 'teary eyed'

All Blacks squad for match against Scotland has been announced. Luke McAllister and Conrad Smith at 12 and 13. Masoe and Reuben Thorne in for Jerry Collins and Chris Jack respectively. Macdonald at fullback. Still no place for Rokocoko on the bench.

Ireland are a fecking shambles. We will be going home after the next match.

Ireland were shite once again. O'Gara was clearly wearing his shoes on the wrong feet - may have something to do with his big sunburnt head. There was no imagination, no sign of any breakthrough, lots of ill dicipline. On the plus side, at least they could catch today, Dennis Hickie finally got put out to pasture, and the new lad at scrum half had a decent game.

I hope Chris White doesn't ref the final, he's the pickiest ref I've seen in a long time.

ireland had two very decent chances tonight, the one in the first ten mins of the second half where they had ball out to the right touchline and had to make one count

they didn't and as a result the french gained confidence

This looks like a rerun of England vs SA, another hammering for Europe.
