Rugby Union 23/24 Discussion

I must say I'm quietly confident that the Wallabies hopes of a grand slam will be alive this time next week after they've played and hopefully beaten Scotland.

I hate to kick a side when they're down, but does anyone else reckon this South African bench could beat Wales on its own, 8 against 15?

Scrum - pen - kick to touch - lineout - maul - pen - kick to touch

Let’s be honest a couple of years ago that was basically the SA gameplan anyway

France it's playing great, but the refs in general, not just in this game, still don't respect us to a level that we are not fvcked up with constant little details. I guess the day will come when we gain such respect, it's normal on every sport

What are you talking about?

Are you trying to claim the ref gave more respect to Argentina? For what reason would that be true?

I'm talking about that Pumas not being a Power, so we still have to pay our dues. Almost every match there are from little, to some big decisions that refs are more leniant to be on favour with the bigger fish, it happens on every sport, but sometimes it gets annoying.

All in all, the game wasn't lost in my view because of that, but it's harder when the rival has such calibre like France or Ireland recently.

You're having a laugh. France are a big fish and certainly bigger than Argentina.

You also seem a bit confused in your apologies. Argentina are small so you have to pay your dues except decisions go to the bigger fish? Eh? This makes no sense mate.

I don't trully get what you are talking about. You think I'm French and II'm complaining about the Ref? I'm Argie.

Apologies? I'm complaining about the refs, yet also acknowledging that France nonetheless played better.

I think he’s saying the opposite. He’s a Boca fan, I presume “we” means Argentina

Yeah sorry I'm a little drunk and didn't spot the Argentina football club there. My bad

Australia's left winger against Scotland at Murrayfield goes by the name of.....Harry Potter!

That backline is something else. It’s pretty mental seeing something like that. When I was a kid Scotland would score 3 tries in a whole 6 nations…

Yeah, gone back almost full circle and using our forward packs physicality (now including the bomb squad) to our advantage.
It used to drive me fecking mad, partly because it worked, but also because you had DDA, Am, Kolbe stood outside…..and all they did was chase kicks :annoyed:

Hahaha yeah, tbf we tried deviating a little from “what made us good” with Pieter de Villiers as coach and a few other attacking coaches - it worked for a little but wasn’t anywhere near as dominant as it’s been under Rassie.

Regarding the previous conversation, France generally gets a bad whistle against everyone and absolutely no respect. And while I do think that yesterday the ref had some questionable decisions and especially misses(I'm pretty sure that Boudehent had two high tackles) with a bunch being in favor of France. The most ridiculous mistake from the ref was in favor of Argentina, it's totally illegal to tackle someone when you are on the ground but somehow the ref used the fact that Argentina's prop was on the ground to conclude that he didn't didn't tackle the opponent about the horizontal voluntarily and was therefore not a penalty. The foul itself wasn't bad but the ref decision exposed how bad some refs are.

I don't like the idea of taking 3 points when you're 14-0 down and you've only got 30 odd seconds left with a man advantage but Fiji are on the board at least.

Fiji have conceded 10 penalties in 32 minutes. That's nowhere near good enough.

Matchups are a bit shit this weekend, only one that interests me is Scotland Australia as that might be a belter if they both come to play.

Can’t deny I have a morbid interest in watching South Africa violate Wales.

@BeforeKeanetherewasRobson I hope you’ve got the lube handy….youre going to find out how the sheep feel soon

I’m off to the cinema in a bit so will miss it… but have set the tape for S4C so I can watch later, also allows me to fast forward so the pain doesn’t last the full 80. Will go for 10-40.

(Can’t see past an Aus win).

That's smart, we don't want them to know how we actually watch games later.

The Irish rugby crowd is so shit.

The only one making noise as usual is the poxy Stadium announcer that just doesn't shut fecking up.

A wise choice Sir

  Mate this is Wales, they’re still using VHS there, there’s nothing subtle here

That’s because they’re charging €150 a ticket. The only people going to these games are the Fenton types you’d move to the other end of the bar to avoid if you got stuck beside them in an empty pub.

In fairness, at least one of the stands can't concentrate on the game with Pogue sitting there complaining about everything.
