Rugby Union 23/24 Discussion

Glass in Kombucha is the sort of ethnic cleansing I can get behind.

Regarding the previous conversation, France generally gets a bad whistle against everyone and absolutely no respect. And while I do think that yesterday the ref had some questionable decisions and especially misses(I'm pretty sure that Boudehent had two high tackles) with a bunch being in favor of France. The most ridiculous mistake from the ref was in favor of Argentina, it's totally illegal to tackle someone when you are on the ground but somehow the ref used the fact that Argentina's prop was on the ground to conclude that he didn't didn't tackle the opponent about the horizontal voluntarily and was therefore not a penalty. The foul itself wasn't bad but the ref decision exposed how bad some refs are.

I was actually complaining in general, not just this match, that Iiked I've said, France were trully great for large moments. The thing it's that we are still not entirely being respected, like having some sort of cinderella ethernal tag. We tend to receive the bad end of many calls, while some of them, are pretty influential. I actually want someone from our camp to start raising a bit our voice. I'm a bit rired of the typical "it's Rugby, we are gentleman, we do not contest Refs decisions like those twats from football". It just do not cut it anymore with so many wrong calls in this current ubber Pro sport rugby have become were many players are trying to bend the rules constantly.

Since we still are a level below in terms of quantity and quality at our diosposal, to try to play this late years "positive" rugby, with less malice and with more discipline, it gets quite annoying to still recieve the sort of calls that we normally always receive since day one. It makes harder the path to finally establish ourselves in a more regular and consistent team in World Rugby.

Anyway, quite a great match, some of the French team stuff was like vintage Champagne Rugby style, I still recall Serge Blanc, what an old fart I am.

I understand your general complains about refereeing. @unchanged_lineup and myself are broken records when it comes to that topic but the angle that you used is wrong, it has nothing to do with respect and France isn't respected by referees. The kind of harsh reality is that certain phases of play are terribly reffed, so if your team creates them often they have a higher risk to be penalized. The other thing which is universal among Rugby referees is that the first team to be penalized for something will continue to be negatively viewed until something egregious happens on the other side or after half time.

A typical example of the latter is the scrums yesterday, Argentina got penalized early due to your loosehead pushing at an angle it was followed by your scrum having a short leach for +40 minutes. Now second half, Colombe has one of the worst bind you can see and falls flat on his face, from that point Argentina got the benefit of doubt for all scrums.

Yesterday's game wasn't special from a refereing standpoint, you weren't treated differently even though I do agree that some decisions were questionable but the ref was consistant for example he had little care for tackles around the shoulders while others would have sanctioned both teams, he was a bit lax on offsides far from rucks for both teams, he allowed very flat passes for both teams and he was fairly lenient when it came to players initially play the ball in rucks while not on their feet. But to be fair both teams actually listened to his instructions and stopped any infringements they were doing when he told them.

Well 15 minutes in and this is an appropriate level of sodomy.

Question is, do I prefer watching this or Man City getting beaten at home?

fecking hammered it today

- had Palmer SoT at 2.0
- Son Sot at 2.0
- £20 on Spurs to win
- £20 on Wales -39.5 (evens at half time)

I’m off to the cinema in a bit so will miss it… but have set the tape for S4C so I can watch later, also allows me to fast forward so the pain doesn’t last the full 80. Will go for 10-40.

(Can’t see past an Aus win).
Home. Close with the prediction… sadly.
That's smart, we don't want them to know how we actually watch games later.
“…. set the tape Freeview box for S4C Channel 4 Wales…”

Sheep comments and now backward tech accusations. This is how my forefathers must have felt when Edward the First invaded us… :(

Right, can the Wallabies keep their grand slam hopes alive against Scotland and prove that one Australian side can perform after the shitshow from the Aussie cricket side against India in Perth?

Haha, Australia don't kick the ball off 10 metres, Scotland play it, knock it on and then Australia gets a scrum out of it.

Harry Potter's first involvement as a Wallaby wasn't wizardry - it was a tackle.

It's amazing how nowadays Australia look like Scotland and Scotland look like Australia.

 Sorry about the sheep comments mate. Tbf, I’ve seen the women in Wales….id be shagging the sheep with you!

2 lost lineouts and poor work on attacking breakdowns means Joe has his work cut out at half time. Will Skelton is a valuable player but the trade off with him is that he's not a lineout jumper despite playing 2nd row.

Apologies all, I clearly cursed this game by saying it might be a banger

Both of Scotland's tries scored by people not born within cooee of the country.

Windups aside, I wonder how VDM would have faired if he’s stayed a Bok. He’s had a pretty stellar career for Scotland

Do people really call it a grand slam?

Yeah it's nice to win every game on a tour but there are no honours at stake, so it seems a bit weird to me.
he’s australian. let him have whatever he can take.

For Southern Hemisphere nations, beating all 4 home nations on a northern tour is a grand slam

Good to see the ref has finally picked up on Scotland playing the ball off their feet.

Look, we might have dropped the ball a bit but you’re losing in Scotland and you’ll get fecking melted in Dublin

I actually feel a bit let down by Australia here. Don’t come to twickers like it’s the World Cup final then be a bunch of virgins in Scotland ffs

You are just an hater, the poor lad is already suffering and you just twist the knife.

I think that I'm going to enjoy Theroar.com this afternoon.
