doesn’t look like that much to me

I can't see it but I rewind it, it's a clear contact with the head. The letter of the law says that it's a red and there is no mitigating factor here, he comes from far and the irish player was upright.

Was just awful technique and made it dangerous. No question the decision was correct especially these days where they protect head injuiries above all.

I don't think he deserves any kind of ban after the match it was clumsy and the the punishment is enough and correct.

England went down the right wing then (forward pass noted) and as England trying to make quick ball, Lowe (I think) steps in, waves an arm at the England player who’s trying to grab/play it. Knows he can’t, slows it down a second or so, knows exactly what he’s doing.

Lot of players doing it in this tournament… refs need to ping them every single time. Illegally slow the ball down and stop a deliberate try, youre in trouble (and a pen try)… illegally slow it down any other time, nothing.

Not sure if it's complacency from Ireland thinking the game was won when the red card came, but they've been awful since.

Maybe it messed up their game plan. Do you play as if they were 15 which implies territory game and avoid a pure forward battle or try to exploit the fact they lost a forward and focus on the forward battle?

Commentator said maybe they‘re struggling with how to deal with the extra man.

I’d bloody hope not if I was an Irish fan or Farrell. This isn’t football where a team takes off a forward and go 540 so there’s still not much room in the last third, this is a huge green rectangle of space to make the extra man count.

Play your game exactly the same and points should come.

(telly on the rugby, headphones on the football now)

Well, they've certainly lost all their structure since the red so it could be a factor. That's why I think the second half they'll pull away. Chance to regroup.

EDIT: Oh, never mind. They've scored!

Yeah I mean surely if you just play your regular game there'll be more space due the missing man at some stage.

EDIT: yeah rugby on the telly, united on the laptop

I think it can be a mindset issue. They get a bit excited, thinking they can win easily and don’t need to stay 100% focused. Their discipline has been awful in the first half. Hopefully they calm down a bit at the break.

quite embarrassing to be out scrummed by jack nowell.

I’d like to hear a good rugby ref explain when a dummy run is/isn’t obstruction.

I thought any dummy run that prevents an opponent potentially tackling the man with the ball was obstruction. Watching and there must be something else in the rule.

England playing really well, up for it but still think Ireland shouldn’t even allow them that opportunity. Losing to France is no shock, losing to a 14 man England team would be awful.

Ah England are playing as well as 14 can be expected to at this level. Ireland are sloppy and indecisive.

Genge is going to kiss a lot of people after the game if England wins.
