Rugby League Super League 2010

Wire win 27-10, great effort considering the Reds had a week off while Warrington played the semi on Sunday.

Latest score Hull v Saints 26 each!

But Warrington are better than Salford, anything other than Warrington win would be a big shock even with a week off

Wire looked tired, very tired, but the reds were missing big names (Ratchford etc) and therefore couldnt take advantage, Wire were not good, Salford weren't either, if it was a stronger Salfud side then I feel they'd have beaten wire.

Oh and your fans are cnuts

Haha, why's that Boothy?

Pre-match, loud as feck yeah, I was impressed, Once the match started I couldn't fecking hear them, Salford were loud until the second try then it went downhill, as in feck all noise whatsoever, until towards the end with chants about Myler, and "We can see you sneaking out" at full time! The match had fecking finished :annoyed:

Where were you when you were shit? ;)

Where were you when you were shit? ;)

On the terraces ;)

As with any team, a bit of onfield success and decent rugby is bound to attract morons, that said, I didn't hear any chants at the end of the match.

Warrington were poor on Friday night, a better team might have took advantage on the night but winning when we're playing poorly is something we're learning to do, and in fairness our defense was excellent at times, even if we were poor with the ball in hand. Even beat the handicap by the end of the game, though the final score did flatter us.

It being so much closer than the two previous games against Salford didn't surprise me, the Willows has been a bogey ground for us over the years, we had a hugely tiring game just over five days before hand when Salford had had the best part of two weeks off and were coming off the back of two good wins for them.

As for the crowd noise during the game, it wasn't the best and it wasn't the worst, guess we can't all be as loud as the Wigan fans every week, eh?

Challenge Cup Semi venues have been announced: Saints v Leeds at Huddersfield on August 7 and Wire v Catalans at Widnes on the 8th.

Down at Wilderspool watching us get a shellacking nearly every week

Just watching the Super League show, and that Widdop is looking a good player from the highlights they're showing

And I really think we're going to benefit from players playing in the NRL, hopefully a few more will follow...and not just forwards

EDIT
A little disappointed Flanagan wasn't given a call to this squad, as he's been playing regularly for Wests Tigers since moving over there

It's been announced on Wires website that Michael Monaghan has signed a contract extension until the end of 2013 season. Great news.

Flanagan always looked like a classy player I thought, no doubt he'll be involved sooner rather than later.

I've said for a long time now that it would benefit our game if more lads got the chance to go and play in Aus, not just the NRL but the lower leagues too would give them a good education. The same with coaches too! We've too many ex players who jump straight into head coaches jobs without a stint as an assistant. It'd be fantastic for them to go over there and maybe take up an assistant coach role or just learn the ways.

Smith and Monas recent extensions are the best things that could have happened for us and will ensure our presence in the top echelons of SL for the next few years at least IMO.

If we can get King to re-sign then we are sorted for the foreseable.

State of Origin 2 about to start on SS1. Mention has just been made of a race-related fall-out among the New South Wales squad - anyone any idea what this relates to?

JOHNS REGRETFUL OVER TAHU INCIDENT | Sporting Life - Rugby League News | Super League, Ian Millward Tips

Think maybe Queensland fancied making a statement today.

Really sorry to have been at work and missed it, I believe there was some quality biff.

Thanks for posting that link, very interesting.

Yeah to be fair to Queensland, they largely concentrated on the game, to great effect, whereas some of the NSW players seemed more intent on the physical stuff. Enjoyable game though.

Big game today

Wigan vs St Helens. A win for Wigan, and they can probably feel pretty confident of a top two finish...they'd be 8pts clear of Saints

Atmosphere sounds amazing at the DW

EDIT
It's all Wigan, the first 10 minutes, and they're taking the penalty for 2-0. Saints will be delighted to be only 2-0 down after that start, could have been worse

2nd EDIT
Brilliant 40-20 from L Pryce, and then he scores from the scrum, that'll be 2-6 now. St Helens had hardly been in the game

What a brilliant game Wigan v Saints was, sounded a great atmosphere. Made for a good weekend for Wire with the win at Bradford followed by defeats for Wigan, Leeds and Hull.

Game of the season by far for me, given the attitude of many Wigan fans this season that was a very, very enjoyable result. To go in without eastmond Wilkin Gardner Wheeler & Soliola and still turn the pies over is some achievement.

I've always said it, we can never be written off.

Chris Bridge out for the season with his shoulder injury. Not surprising news but still a real blow.

Been a couple of good results recently....

Warrington 30-37 Leeds
Leeds 28-24 St Helens

Plus, beating Wigan in the Challenge Cup (although I thought Wigan were perhaps the better side), it's showing that Leeds will be a real force come the play-offs as everyone expected

Nearly everyone...I did see us taking a bit of a dip this season.

LOL @ Saints and Leeds

Yeah, the Saints result was a big surprise. When the draw for the semis of the Challenge Cup was made, it looked a formality for Warrington, but that's maybe not the case now.

Watched Hull KR v Leeds on Sky, another great game. As the pundits were saying, on that form Rovers could be a dark-horse for the Grand Final.
