Rugby League Super League 2010

Definitely game on wigan - wire, wigan have the momentum now though.

Great steal from Myler though, after a terrible kick straight down Roberts throat, momentum probably Warrington after that

EDIT
Nah, it's still with Wigan

A bit of magic there from Sam Tomkins, that's a very special play

20-16 Wigan, kick to come

Wigan take the lead - all coincides with Lee Briers leaving the pitch!

It doesn't really look like that's the problem though, it looks like Wigan are fitter and stronger, they seem to have so much energy, whether that's just momentum, who knows.

But Wigan seem to be getting the 10m (and more) on every play

Try saving tackle from Myler, Warrington must have started the last 3/4 sets on their own goalline

Bridge drops it on the first tackle after a 40-20 from Monaghan.
Wigan give it back with an error

Saints final score 42-12, happy with that. Scored 80 points and conceded 18 in th elast two.

Yep, they'll be there or thereabouts this season for sure, will be interesting to see how they do when they face Wigan/Warrington, as they do look to be the best sides this season

When do Wigan and Saints first meet, as I wonder whether Wigan can keep this up, as no doubt Maguire has worked them hard and it's a long season

Solomona loses it on the line, scores that and it's the game

Man, that's got to be heartbreaking

This is officially the most depressing day of my life.

The question is, the rope in the shed or the crate of Stella in the fridge. The rope seems quite appealing right now.

One top of Wire and United getting beat, my telly's broke. Happy days :mad:

After letting off some steam, I've come to the conclusion that we will be there or thereabouts come October. We absolutely dominated until Briers went off, we lost a bit of direction when that happened.

Well done Wigan, cracking game that neither deserved to lose but congrats. Cherish the victory, I'd guess you won't have a more hard-earned 2 points all season.

As I said when watching it live, I didn't really see Briers going off as the reason, Wigans pack were just entirely dominant in a 15minute spell, and Warrington invited the pressure with penalties, and then when under pressure committed more penalties, thus more pressure.

Don't really know what Briers could have done to stop that.

It was a cracking game though.

Can England find a way to fit in Tomkins, Myler and Eastmond

Kyle would have to play in the 3 quarters for that to happen.

Briers sheer prescence is enough to keep us on an even keel. When he's not there we tend to lose our rag, give away penalties, shite kicks etc. He's so important to our structure. Without him, the deck of cards wobbles, if not collapses.

We must learn to function better without Lee. If we are serious contenders for GF(we are) then we need to adapt to his abscence a lot better.

Fantastic game between Wire and Wigan and what a finish with Solomona going over and dropping the ball inches before touching down. Really could have gone either way and every video ref decision went against us. Going to be a good season for both sides by the look of tonight.

every video ref decision went against us.

Any of them incorrect decisions? for example, the two Solomona incidents were correct, he knocked on before Briers touched down and he dropped it with the try and victory for the taking.

Am I the only one who felt Monaghan effort should have been allowed by the VR? I think he got enough downward pressure to warrant benefit of doubt.

No I wasn't suggesting there were any "wrong" decisions, as such, but just that there were five or six referrals, which by their nature are close calls, and they all went against Warrington. And there were at least two occasions where the pundits in the studio were not unanimous in their judgements. I think it's fair to say Warrington were very unlucky to lose that match. and it would have been harsh on Wigan for them to lose it.

What's Wigan's next fixture, Boothy?

Fancy the Giants to get a bit of CC revenge on us this weekend. No Briers is a killer blow to Wire.

I'll predict: Giants 24-16 Wire :(

38 points for Richards, a new SL record

Wigan look to be the team to beat out there at the moment, definitely hit the ground running after their pre-season. Can't wait to see them play Leeds and St Helens

New coach syndrome, when that wears off we'll find out just how good they really are. They have looked very impressive although I feel they were a touch fortunate to beat us last week. We pounded them for the first half and the early part of the 2nd half but Briers going off sent us into a tailspin which they gained momentum from.

No doubt it's the new coach, but I assume you are presuming they have just lifted their game to impress him, I don't see it as that, it's that he's actually improved them.

Just look at how fit and strong they are, look at the way they've gone about and changed the shape of players like Riddell and Paleassina (sp?).

I agree though that we'll see how good they are when they face Leeds and St Helens, and other teams catch up fitness wise to them, and whether they can sustain their game over the whole season, as that would be an immense physical effort.

And yeh, they were a bit fortunate to beat Warrington last week, what with Solomona's drop, but it wasn't anything to do with Briers, they looked fitter and stronger than Warrington, when Warrington tired, Wigan came on strong and had them on the ropes, and used their momentum well, Briers couldn't have stopped that, he couldn't have stopped players who were tired comiitting penalties. And then Warrington came on strong late as it was do or die for them.

Don't get me wrong, Maguire has definately improved them, he's brought the fitness regime and blitz defence that made Storm so successful in the NRL. That has clearly given teams a shock so early in the season, but I don't think fitness was the reason for their strong finish last week. Briers mere presence on the field makes a difference, when he went off, we lost our rag, lacked direction, and as a result conceded a ton of penalties. Wigan got a roll on, on the back of that.

Fat Feka has lost weight but he's still a fat cnut , it's so easy to get offside penalties against him with quick play the balls and darts from dummy-half.

Maybe, no doubt he was a defensive liability at times, and in particular Leeds and St Helens had worked this out, and ran at him which gained them yards, and tired him out so he couldn't be as effective in attack.

But who knows about this season, he didn't play against Warrington and he didn't play against Catalans tonight, and I didn't see their first two games

I'll tell you has stepped it up, and that's Fielden, he had a big game last week

Leeds Rhinos V Melbourne Storm, anyone watching it?

Im going for the Storm

Caught the last 20 mate, and you were right with the prediction. Heard it was a tight game and the scoreline suggests so.

Great win for the Wires at Huddersfield. As WireRed has been telling us, Warrington looking very promising for this season.
