Think he answered the Ruud question classy, I would have liked he stayed but fair decision.
Don't know what happened with rashford but something went wrong long before Ruben arrived. Even Rooney indicated at something in his interview. Hope some day we get the whole picture, as for now good luck to him and hope he plays well so we might get a good fee for him.

It was probably a joint decision. Amorim seems to understand that past transfer mistakes are costing them now.
He was probably given choices.. get players now that are a bit more panic buy for inflated prices or wait till summer where the squad is assessed further and a bigger pool of players to chose from.
For instance, a journalist report from Portugal saying 85m for Gyokores in January compare to 65m in summer.
Paying 10m loan fee for Tel or just going with what we have.
Whilst the report on Gyokeres might be 20% accurate, it gives you an idea. Paying 20m extra for a player in January means 20m less budget in the summer.
He probably said, I rather wait and get 2/3 players for the budget than 1 player that wont help create the squad.
The league is gone, we could win something with the current squad. He has to improve players too. He also needs to show the board that he can be trusted with money and players.
I don't know for sure, nor do you - so why keep crapping on in such a negative way after just 3 months? Would a different manager also require 3 top class signings to make us top 4 challengers? If so then what point are you actually making?

We have a 2 week break coming up where we will most likely use this to train on Amorim's methods.
Its not that hard to become top 4 challengers, did you expect Forest to become top 4 challengers? I doubt it.
Here's hoping, but this post is reminiscent of the ETH era. We would regularly see people flag an international break or gaps in schedule to allow the players to get ETH's 'system' or something and all would be fine. Amorim is a very different manager, but he also needs to work out how he wants to play for rest of the season. Palace game he got it wrong. If he keeps changing the system players will just get more confused.
This manager talks a lot of sense, I have no doubts whatsoever he will be a huge success at United.

Talking sense in a press conference is pretty meaningless as an indicator of how good a manager is or will be.

At least he's saying they want physicality in the players they are looking for. Something Ten Hag didn't have a clue about.
I do not understand Manchester United. They extend EtH´s contract only to sack him a few months later. Then they give Amorim an ultimatum to come mid-season or never and implement a system for which he doesn´t have the right players. Surprise. It does not work, and we are even worse than under ten Hag. Come winter, we could not manage to sell the players who does not fit in, and only brings in Dorgu and Heaven. Will it get better? Yes, but slowly. Should we have waited for Amorim until summer and got him a better fit of players for his system. Big yes. This is BS. I would have kept Ruud on until summer and probably ended up somewhere between 6th-9th in a system that fits the players. (I know it is not working for him at Leicester right now). We are setting Amorim up for a sacking-discussion that is unfair. His system is not working out, and he refuses to be flexible about it. He is the exact opposite of EtH. EtH was bought to play Ajax-Ball here but instantly saw, that he could not do it. He bend his system to the players, and it worked out pretty well for a year or so. Afterwards it went bad partly through bad transfer decisions but also through bad luck in the injury-department. Amorim is bought to play Sporting-Ball and cannot do it while the player-budget is spend on EtH-players. He must obviously do with what he has, and it is a pain to watch. The management of this club is beyond stupid, but Amorim is not faultless either.
Our problems are obvious:
1: Amad and Dorgu has to be the wingbacks from now on. No more Amad at 10. No Dalot or Mazraoui except for games where we will have to stand back and defend. They are allergic to crossing the ball and doesn´t get anywhere near the dangerous areas in transitions. That leads of directly to our next weakness.
2: The 9 position. I call it the Robinson Crusoe-position. Isolated, surrounded by hostiles. It really doesn´t matter who plays there. The 9 is set up to fail. No service and outnumbered. Without attack-minded wingers and crosses, we might as well play without a 9. This might get better with Amad and Dorgu though, but only if...
3:...We need to solve the passing problem in the final third. We have three players who can play a surprise pass, but only one of them can do it with one touch. He is on the bench and does not have the legs for pressing high. We need a young Eriksen, but until we have the funds to buy one, we will have to do with the original. Our attacking play and control is much better, when he is on the pitch. I want Eriksen and Bruno linking up with Amad and Dorgu setting up the 9. At least until summer, when the dane is hopefully being replaced.
4: The pivot. We need a young Modric or Kroos, but we will have to do with Ugarte/Collier/Mainoo. Ugarte should always play, and Mainoo is the best option against weaker teams. Collier is the better physical option.
5: Bayindir in and Onana out.
6: Yoro and Mazraoui need to play CB for speed. Harry or De Ligt, but not both, when we are standing high, which we must in the Amorim-system.
7: I like Garnacho, but he has no real position in the system. He is not good enough defensively as a wingback and he doesn´t cross. He can play the 10, but he really is a super talented winger, which we don´t need in this system.

He doesn't like Amorim for some reason. He's always putting weird tweets out about him after defeats. Very unprofessional.
Regardless of what era it is, any manager needs time to train the team to his system.
I dont get the point of he needs to work out how he wants to play, when he has clearly clarified it pressers that his style will not change. So there is nothing about players getting confused.
We have the same issues every game, we concede silly goals and cant create chances.

The Overlap one? Where Rooney said he was at Carrington recently and saw Rashford after a fitness session (can't remember exactly what he called it) and he hadn't even broken a sweat? Everyone else said after such a session you'd be gasping.

Our league is done, we might as well take the patient sustainable approach. The number of fans having head loss over the January transfer window baffles me.

Yep - I think the difference is he will get a lot of targets proposed to him versus previous coaches a) because he likely won't know the 18-22 player pool that well (not his job) and b) because we seem to actually be using our scouts and not just going for big names.
How is this any different to before? Genuine question
