Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

Leverkussen played some great football last season with 3-4-3. Napoli top of the league with 3-4-3, Atalanta plays some great football with 3-4-3. Some more probably.

It is not only the formation, it’s how you play in transitions and which players you have.
Napoli play 433. And we don't play 343 but 5221.

Look at the bench and tell me what players should be on the pitch instead of one of those defenders?

Would you prefer to play 4231 again with the massive gaps and opponents looking like scoring with every attack?
I know he’s not great but Zirkzee probably poses more goal threat than De Ligt. Or he could play Mainoo.

I'm getting concerned about Amorim. I get that he doesn't have the right players but you'd think we might see some kind of small improvements from where we were.

We've not gotten any worse under him but we're definitely not better either.

Why does he insist upon offering nothing in attack game after game. The 2 AMF players struggle to understand their roles it would make more sense to have 1 central AMF and 2 strikers

The performances are simply not good enough. You can't see some kind of masterplan coming to fruition either. Looks like only suffering without much reward at the end of it.
Excatly. There’s nothing to even get remotely hopeful about. he’s still new and in his honeymoon phase so he gets alot of excuses but the truth is he’s been massively disappointing unfortunately. Incredibly dull, stubborn and one dimentional. Doesnt seem interested in trying anything different, or maybe he’s just a one trick pony and hasnt got a clue what to do next when his only tactic is failing. A better manager would make the players look better than they are.

He's only been here for 2,5 months. Wonder why some ask for signs of improvement without him getting his own signings.

It used to be a thing as a manager to look at the players you have at your disposal and pick a formation based on that, whereas Amorim seems the opposite way around. Just don’t get why he couldn’t mix it up in games if it’s not going well for example.

We brought him in to play a specific system. When he joined he even said it would be short term pain for long-term gain. Manager hasn't been perfect since joining by any means but the players are absolute dross.

Some of you really need to start thinking and looking at the long term. What a lot of you are asking for is what we've been served up over the last decade. Amorim is trying to break the cycle and install a system to set us up for sustained success. Short term pain for long term gain (hopefully) Be patient.

Thank you. We need to get out of the vicious cycle in which we’ve been for the past nearly twelve years, and Amorim is trying to do so.

I also believe that's what a manager should do, but the reality is that it takes a really good experienced manager to do that WELL.

Amorim is a good manager, but all he knows is the 5x4x1 / 5x2x3. He does not have the 4x4x2 or 4x3x3 in his toolbox.
Everyone knew that when Utd's board decided to sign him. So there's no point in keep asking him to change. He's not about the short term.
And Amorim is also super stubborn, so it's really a waste of time.

This man needs 2-3 loans this window, inject something to this squad especially in strike/attack

But even like if both strikers can’t score a goal to save their lives and are completely lost and isolated up front, maybe try two strikers for a game? Don’t even need to change the overall defensive structure.

It’s very predictable for the opposition if we just play the same way again and again, badly. Ferguson would never do that.

Would it be kneejerk that I'm not sure if this guy has a clue how to organize a team in the PL?
By definition, "I'm not sure" isn't kneejerk, since it's still early days and the jury is still out on him.

If you said "this guy has no clue how to organize a team in the PL", then yes, that would be kneejerk.

I really like Ruben but man, this formation ISN'T working for now. I get they gotta get used to his plan. But right now, these aren't the right players for such tactics. Ive never seen a team so clueless before...till next match.

Why are people acting like there haven't been any improvements?

We put in our best performances at the Etihad and Anfield in I don't know how long. We usually play like cowards there but, this time, we took the game to them and came away with 4 points. We put in our best performance when down to 10 men away to Arsenal in I don't know now long. We usually crumble after a red card but, this time, we battled like warriors and knocked them out.

Have people already forgot or just conveniently overlooking to complain?

Valuable clean sheet. Didn't give much away today, I liked the Amad and mainoo link up at the end of the game.

Another awful performance but a god sent win for Amo.

Hopefully, 2 signings & some improvement before the next league game. We can't continue on like this.

Yes they were good performances but we beat City and Liverpool in the FA Cup last season with similar one-off great performances, the Southampton game was deflating after those to see them scrape over the line against bottom of the league.

The next six games present a great opportunity to get the season back on track. Hopefully, we'll make a signing or two before the window closes to help out Amo.

Has definitely sorted us out defensively, which is probably the one thing he can do with this personnel. But it's brutal watching a team where the players so blatantly do not fit the system they are playing, and that's not me saying I want him to change it either.

I think you can argue that only the back 3 and Amad have found a spot in this team that they are totally comfortable with.

Match going fans are singing Amorim's name loud and clear.
It's clear that he has 100% support from fans and management.
We need striker BADLY.

We looked assured, defensively well structured and Fulham didn't really have any good chance bar that goal line clearance by Collyer.
Since we scored, the plan was clear - sit back and let them have the ball, catch them wide open and put the game to bed 2-0. A very, very small offside stopped that.

Important week for us, 2 very important wins. Attacking players need to sort their shit out, because they are playing horribly at the moment.

Looking forward to next week,

This system will never work with Dalot and Maz as the wing backs. Either we get him some players now or we will be this shit for the rest of the season.
I can see what he is trying to build and I like it but it will never work with 2 FB's as limited as those 2.
