In the U.S. we clear the field & stadium if lightning is within 10 miles & you can’t resume play until 30 minutes has passed since the last strike.

Imagine if the lightning strikes a player just as they're shaping up to shoot and it leads to them 'powering up' the shot. Ball ablaze, rips a hole of fire through the net, whole stadium loses their shit.
