He's definitely a very talented player but I just don't really know what his best position is.

I dont see him getting to the next level at Everton, needs a move to a top club and take the next steps in his career. I rate him, i would employ him as an attacking midfielder behind the striker.

Do not want. A tactical headache and he's really no that good. Very patchy player.

Has scored/assisted 29 League goals in the past 2 years; Pogba has 27, despite one of those seasons being spent playing in Serie A for the team that's dominated it for more than half a decade.

He needs a coach like Mourinho IMO, he's a bit thick and needs clear instruction and guidance.

Would be a good alternative to Herrera and an huge improvement on Lingard, and will be available for circa £20m. I think he's going to City though....

Over-rated English talent. Not bad by any means, but nowhere near as good as some think nor his price-tag suggests. Avoid. We've got much bigger problems to resolve in our starting 11 without adding another attack-minded player

I think you'd need to build your team around him, so don't think he'd be in our targets. I could see him excelling at club like Newcastle where he'd be the main man. He defo has natural ability, it is just consistency and some tactical discipline he needs to add.Right manager behind him he could flourish.

He's not remotely like either Herrera or Lingard. Herrera is either our deepest midfielder or 2nd deepest; either way, he has a lot of defensive responsibility. Lingard provides movement.

Everton started the season with Barry + Gueye providing midfield protection. More recently Schneiderlin, Gueye and Tom Davies. Barkley plays behind Lukaku but ahead of the midfield, usually centrally but sometimes on the right. Closest approximation in the United team this season would be Rooney, Mata or Mkhitaryan.

Barkley's goals and assists over the last 2 PL seasons 30 in 5928 mins

Mata's goals and assists over the last 2 PL seasons 22 in 4455 mins

If he is available for reasonable price we should go for him.

Why would he leave Everton for Newcastle?

Players like Barkley are going to be pretty valuable until the Brexit/border issue is teased out. The freedom of movement may not be the given it is currently. If, for example, all non-UK players need to apply for a work permit and there are restrictive limits placed on non-UK player then guys like Barkley suddenly become inherently more valuable.

I believe that on foot of the advices being punted around at the moment, clubs are pretty confident that there'll be some sort of exception put in place for footballers (or at least high level footballers) but until they know, I suspect some of the big clubs will try snaffle any English player of the requisite level who comes on the market. Hence Barkley might well stay, but if not, he'll happily find a home on well north of £100k a week at a club in the CL running.

Everton to Newcastle is a massive step back at this moment in time. Besides, Barkley's one of the main men after Lukaku, and will be the main man when Lukaku leaves.

I reckon he will go to arsenal to replace chamberlain after he joins the Klopp squad this summer.

It's the other way around. He needs to play for a side that will not indulge his luxury decisions. If he does find a better club he's going to find his first season very difficult.

I haven't seen enough of him, but I'm generally against signing British players unless they are really special. Barkley surely doesn't fit that description?

He will go to one of the big boys to fill their home grown quota amd sit on the bench for a few seasons, i.e. Fabien Delph style.

but would he have the same impact as a player. You are buying him because of the "luxury" pieces of skill that he does possess. Curb that too much and he'd not be the same player. For that reason I am not so sure he's a top club type of player

He's bang average with an attitude that exceeds his talent, he is Everton FC personified. Don't know where else he could go.

I think he'll and up at Spurs

I'd take him, depending on the price. He'd benefit a lot from coaching by Poch, is still only 23 and would provide good squad competition for the AM slots.

That's exactly why he'd be a good fit for you, can rotate him as you've got CL next season. Think Pochettino would make a solid player out of him.

Think he's the only English player outside Spurs that you can say he's good. If we want to sign any English player then it should be him.

I wonder what price Everton would accept, given his contract situation? Any thoughts?

I'd like us to sign him simply because we're in desperate need of some decent English players. Our lot are mostly crap, but we can't get rid of too many without bringing more in.

Yes. He is the best English player available and would be our best English player with Rashford.

Huge fan of Ross, sign him and give him the #10 shirt, would rather him than James Rodriquez for sure.

Another one massively overrated as a cause of his nationality. Would hardly make a wave if he was Spanish and playing for Villareal.

There are two talents that are the real deal in England, and that is Dele Alli and Rashford.

Pretty sure Mourinho went in for him when he was at Chelsea.

Would love him here to boost the squad. Can play in a multiple of positions too.

I've gone cold on Barkley. He looked a very promising talent at first. But since he has become very mediocre.

Nope, because if he did you'd only see highlights of his best hits and think he's fecking incredible. Memphis syndrome.
