Can't wait for the Rooney - Perisic - Morata attacking trio next season. The opposition will shit their pants even before the game starts.
I did say most lolNot every living being is motivated primarly by greed. Take Ghandi, Mother Tersea or Robin Hood for example.
@Random Task I always thought he would likely be struggling to justify his wages by the end of his contract, given the length of it and his age. I just thought he would give us enough service for the first 3 or 4 years of it that by the final one or two we wouldnt begrudge him being a bit past it. I guess I thought the final year of his contract would be a bit like last year, where he was phased out, or the year before, where he played but wasnt very good. What I didnt expect was that from a 5 year contract we would get one decent year, and even that was only decent, not outstanding. He was the best of a bad bunch in that first year.
Wouldn't describe it as over the moon, but happy and, especially, relieved, I think would best describe it. Was very worried with SAF leaving and Moyes coming in. And never expected Fabregas or any of those high profile targets to come that summer. Was worried if Rooney left we'd have a really chaotic year - which we did anyway, in the end. The fact is the club was in a corner, very, very difficult situation for Woodward to deal with on his first months in charge.None of us did if we're being honest.
How did you feel about the contract he was offered? After Fergie's claims in the press that Rooney had requested a transfer (a claim I believed implicity considering the source) I had accepted his departure as a given and it was simply a matter of who he decided to join out of Chelsea and City. So when I discovered that Rooney had signed a new contract, declaring his intent to see us through the inevitable transitional period post Fergie (at least in my eyes), I was literally over the moon. Cared not for the outrageous wage he was to be paid on a weekly basis, only cared that Wayne Rooney was to remain a United player and the good times were set to continue for the forseeable future. It's safe to assume that Moyes felt the same way, which would explain to some extent why he would cave in to his demands, such was Rooney's influence at the club around that period.
I will give you Ghandi, Robin Hood however looked after himself and his merry men wellNot every living being is motivated primarly by greed. Take Ghandi, Mother Tersea or Robin Hood for example.
He does have to say that.
If Rooney decides to leave of his own accord to find game time then he won't be entitled to his "loyalty bonus". If Mourinho is quoted in the press saying anything like "We have no room for him here" or "He is not in my plans" then Rooney can use that as proof he was encouraged to leave and can claim a portion of his contract. Rooney knows that he is not in Mourinho's plans for next season, at best he might get 10 starts if we have an injury crisis so it's in his best interest to find another club. Mourinho is just ensuring that the club don't have to subsidise that.
He held us to ransom by demanding a fat contract when we were in a weak moment with a cr#p manager. I say leave him out of the squad altogether. If he wants to play football again, he'll have to quit.
Links have certainly dies down.
Guess he's staying.
So him starting pre season 2 weeks early was an utter waste!
karaoke can make you unfit again?
It's not just the karaoke, he should be focussing on his fitness!
Anyhow, according to Mirror no clubs have made a bid for him so it looks like we are stuck with him.
For his current footballing ability, even a 100k wage would be too high. Only China will match his current wages. Even MLS won't pay that much. If money is what he wants, moving to China is his best option. Staying at United for a year playing a bit-part role will not help him at all. If he thinks he won't be part of the World Cup squad if he moves to China, he should know that it would be the same case if he stays at United also. Moving to a team like Everton for a massive pay-cut would be his only chance to get a berth to Russia. Basically, if he wants to -Obviously the mirror but it looks like he's staying if this is to be believed.

Rooney currently earns £300,000 a week at Old Trafford and the Daily Mirror claim he’s still looking for suitors to match those wages if he is to make a move.
If he got an offer of around £75k -£100k he should take it IF he "Just wants to play"
If he seriously expects another club to match those wages then he's thicker than he looks. The greedy tosser is hardly going to starve to death by accepting a lower wage.Obviously the mirror but it looks like he's staying if this is to be believed.

Welcome back, Wazza.
I'd be fairly sure United would be willing to make up any shortfall he would 'suffer' in the first 12 months if he did take an offer like that, maybe there just isn't one, or he doubts his ability to make an impact.
I still think he'll go, and I'm sure a lot of the issue is brinkmanship over him wanting his full contract paying up, like I say I could see us paying up part of it, but no way should we be paying it up in full.
I think it's a game of chicken at the minute. The club thinks Rooney will eventually give in and accept he's not going to get his contract paid out and he's not going to want to disgrace himself by pissing about with the u23s for a year either (which itself will impact his chances of getting any worthwhile contract next summer).
Rooney thinks the club will give in and prefer to pay £5-6m loyalty payment than £13m for a reserve player.
The big question for me is what Mourinho will do if he's still here in August and we've brought in all our targets. Will he still have the captaincy? Will he be registered for Europe? The League?
That's when we will see him leave imo.
The greed factor is what urks me most about this whole situation. When you combine his salary, his sponsorship deals, his assets and/or businesses he owns, his net worth must be upwards of £150m (unable to confirm this figure at present). He has more money than a lowly scouse chav could spend in 150 lifetimes. When is enough enough Mr Rooney?
people were up in arms about Lingard getting 100k a week, and you would much rather take him over Rooney nowFor his current footballing ability, even a 100k wage would be too high. Earn money --> China
play --> Everton
sit on his arse the whole year --> United
FFS! How deluded can one be?Rooney is struggling to find another club and has not received an offer which comes remotely near his current United salary of up to £300,000-a-week
So him starting pre season 2 weeks early was an utter waste
