He should be punished for his behavior and not be selected at all for the Chelsea game.

We should remind the world that Cristiano and Mendes were looking for a new destination this summer, and CR7 came late in training.

This is not acceptable and Ten Hag should have all our support in this.

Hopefully Cristiano will leave in January and wishing him all the best at Wolverhampton.

Rio's comments are truly daft, truly truly daft. Yeah can't even lie, am triggered. Making it seem like ETH didn't give it a honest go with CR and is to be blamed. Did we just imagine Ronaldo starting something like 4 or 5 of our last 7 games? Or how he looked bad to average for most of them? did we imagine the team looking better whenever someone else was up there? what about all the portugese speakers in the church of ronaldo coincidentally all putting in Motm performances without him? Okay, so what about the 4 game win streak after Brentford? It's almost gaslighting the manager at this point. Some of his defenders are cracked.

Martial scores 2 goals as a sub and the manager instead gets condemned for not putting Ronaldo in. Then he scores one against Everton and there's this shitty attempt at rewriting the whole season. How did our most successful period manage to churn out so many clueless ex-players? Who even knows, maybe the club would even have been at a better position post-fergie if our exes weren't all regens of the same stubborn oldhead stereotype.

It's a shame and simply justifies many of our concerns. Ronaldo can no longer be seen as the No#1 forward, because it isn't that simple anymore. He has to fit a system, across a schedule of games. He doesn't like that then we need to tell him to enjoy training until his attitude changes...

I think Ronnie is mainly worried about his place in the portugal squad in the WC. Portugal have a strong squad, but if Ronnie can't consistently make the first XI, I think he's worried about his role despite being of course the greatest player from Portugal of all time, but going on his current ability, it's a question mark for Portugals manager. Ronnie obviously doesn't care about Man Utd but he cares for his last somewhat realistic chance at the WC.

I mean, all of that is without even mentioning that he didn't bother turning up for any of our preseason and was actively seeking a new club all summer. It's not like he's been some model professional the last few months and ETH is just randomly picking on him.

Piss me off, the best game United have played in a good long while, yet all the media is about Ronaldo, quicker he is out of the club the better.
He acts like a spoilt brat who does not get his own way, he knew what he was doing the the reaction it would get.

I will not go into this friendship media nonsens from Ferdinand, Evra and others. It is just absurd to defend something that can't be defended or excused. What can and should be said is that it is not acceptable and this behaviour should result in ban. He let everyone down, including himself. Team must go before players. Simple.

Let's not forget Ronaldo at Juventus was a disaster in the end and integrating him in the team practically got Ole sacked as we couldn't play on the counter anymore. Guaranteeing Ronaldo every start got Rashford sulking and Martial headed for the exit doors and Cavani basically went awol. All top teams turned down Ronaldo in the summer(they weren't fooled by 24 goals...given he contributes nothing else to the team) and Rio Ferdinand thinks Ronaldo should be a regular starter for us.

He hates failure. I like this attitude. I hope more of our players have this mentality, But he went too far this time. Fine him. Discipline him. That’s our standard.

Is this how your average Juventus fan feels? He was shit against Porto, i'll grant you that, but individually had his most prolific season in his final one. I'm just geniunely curious.

That's how they feel, I've seen that viewpoint expressed a few times by Juve fans. Given how they went even further downhill after he left, I really doubt he was the problem there.

I can understand Piers Morgan backing Ronaldo, he's an Arsenal fan !

Our so called legends are the ones to blame here !!

Why do you think he walked off like a little bitch? He just saw us have a great performance and he wasn't needed at all, proving ETH correct. Narrative would have been sealed "United are better without Ronaldo". Doing what he did has just completely changed the post-match talking point. Now it's about him walking off in a huff and he and Mendes got their little pocket holders in the media coming with "Ronaldo was disrespected". They actually have former United players taking Ronaldo's side and having a go at ETH completely ignoring the team just had arguably its best 0-90 minute performance since SAF.

Imagine being a United legend, constantly complaining for years about how shite our football has been and then we play brilliantly but nope that doesn't matter because Ronaldo, who is past it didn't get to run around with no end product for 20 minutes and we probably concede a goal with players trying to force it to him so he can try to pad his goal tally. And that's all Spurs would have needed a goal and some hope and next thing you know De Gea is picking a Son or Kane goal out of his net 2 minutes into stoppage time and it ends 2-2. All that brilliant play for 60-70 minutes pissed away because ETH had to placate Ronaldo. Ronaldo was pretty much the reason why we only got a point off Newcastle instead of 3.

Thats like praising Southgate for reaching the semis and final of the euro and WC, without looking at any context whatsoever.

3.5 years, hundreds of millions, no cup, no closer than 18ish points off 1st in the league, lower points tally to his predecessors best in 3 attempts.

What a dumb thing to say.
Yes, calling Southgate's tenure as England manager shit would be a dumb thing to say too. Well identified.

Exactly. Even forgot to mention, we don't even play Ten Hag football when Ronaldo plays. He isn't actually buying in. We try to maximise him so we play stupidly direct where the ball is looking for Ronaldo the second it crosses the halfway line. Our players aren't good headers so that kind of route one football benefits literally no one else but Ronaldo but we still try for his sake.

Absurd..

He is a definite starter for Portugal no matter what..

Jota and Neto injured.
Their coach sucks up to Ronaldo..
He will captain and start for them.

Wheather it's good for them is another discussion

Seriously, the team happily celebrated his 700th goal with him last week and a week later he can't even be bothered to stick around to enjoy the most impressive performance of the season with those teammates?

Quite a dickhead move

Finished 3rd and 2nd in his two full seasons. He wasn't shit, that's a dumb thing to say.

Top of the table in mid-January and finished in 2nd 12 points behind. OGS choked away a league title. People will say we never had a chance but that's just cope from OGS supporters. To be top of the table in mid-Jan and then by April we were 10 points behind and the sad thing is Citeh actually dropped 5 points to us in the league and it didn't even matter.

100% on OGS being a clueless manager.

Athletic article reported that the squad didn't even notice. They don't care so we shouldn't either. We play better without him and he will be gone soon. Don't distract from the good performance last night.

Not defending Ronaldo and I hope he's dropped for the weekend and kicked out in January. But I guess these comments show the team spirit SAF fostered in his squads because that's the only reason I can think of in the loyalty Rio, Keane etc show Ronaldo in public. Which I suppose would explain their behaviour ( even though they are in the wrong here). But loyalty can often be like that.

Umm wasn't he then also the manager who took us to that top table position in January? You make it sound someone else got us there and he came in and blew it.

The really damning thing is not that he didn't stay and celebrate but that he stormed out of a game he was effectively still a part of. We had two substitutions left with, what, seven minutes left including stoppage time? It's the kind of stuff that gets you sacked or relegated to the youth team, there needs to be a consequence.

He left when we had substitutions left and 5 minutes to be played, what if Rashford got injured and needed to sub him on? It's so disrespectful to the coach, the players, the fans and club as a whole. He has been disrespecting the club since pre season and at this point it will be great for everyone involved if he moved on in January.

That’s probably the only scenario DVB ever gets in the side yesterday (if he was in the squad). Surely he would throw on a midfielder or defender at that point

*In a season that started mid September*

It wasn't a real mid January leadership, it's not the same.

You never know, maybe manager wants to retain the shape and focal point in the attack to keep the CBs occupied, maybe manager still wants counter attacking threat after subs.

We don't know that. Same way he brought Mctominay on when we needed a goal against Omonia*, substitutions doesn't have to make sense to you but the manager. Plus he was still named on the bench meaning you can be called upon anytime. Maguire was brought on in the 90min or so in a game this season (if not mistaken), what if he had left before that? would that have been ok?

Yeah good point. However they could’ve just said nothing or refused to comment if asked. Like “I’m friend with the guy and also former player of the club, probably not in the most impartial position to comment on this”. Easy for me to say, though.
