No, but I doubt that's what happened. Sancho easily could have come off earlier and Rashford moved to the wing after going 2-0 up to give us that outlet for countering the last 20 minutes.
What a great decision that was to keep him at the club instead of maybe using his obscene wages to get someone else in. Literally everyone could have seen it coming except our club heads.
There's a lot of reasons to believe we were more than willing to let him go but no club worthy of his inflated ego would take him.
Ronaldo certainly is old enough to know that gameplans can change. Sometimes a player stands next to the 4th official to come on only to be called back and not come on at all.

Ten Hag doesn't strike me as the kind of guy to promise 25 minutes when he has no idea what the game will demand. He's consistently tried to do the right thing for the whole group and pandering hasn't been a factor.
