You might be right on that one though. He is causing a bit of drama with his unprofessional act there, but the extent of it was overblown, he was feeding many drama queens here and triggering many all over the top reactions all around.

simple answer to that, is don't feed them. It hurts him seeing the team play a style of football he can't play, that movement and pressing as a unit last night from the front men was impressive. Our best performance in his time back with us and he doesn't get a sniff with a world cup around the corner. I'd say put his big boy pants on and knuckle down like players such as Shaw who after losing his spot has bounced back impressively. Like Fred, poor showing v Newcastle, actually looked a lot better last night. Unfortunately for Ronaldo., I think that's it for him with us. We've still Martial to come back which will push Ronaldo even further back.

if the team were playing terrible, and not winning you might understand him blowing his top. The fact we won looking the best we have played really doesnt look good on him
It would also mean that you have no interest in helping your team in any way when they're losing. Both show an absolute lack of team spirit.

If I was Ten Hag I'd have all the back pages talking about Ronaldo instead of about our excellent performance plastered up in the dressing room and ask him to apologise to his team mates.

Actually the guy who was on Arenasport, sports channel I was watching the game on (@No Idea For Nickname will now) was saying something about Ronaldo having an earring so he probably doesnt expect to play tonight. I was like, what the hell are you on about, seems guy wasnt far of.
Yes true, was thinking "wth" when I saw him, then commentator said it and I actually agreed with him, (I wrote it in the match thread) it was very odd to me, never saw anything like it before.

Hard to do that when nobody wants him. The club shouldn't subsidize him playing for another club either, he can use his vast wealth to buy himself out if he's that desperate

The Ronaldo fanclub in the media is the absolute worst. I wish someone would call them out on their bullshit about him not being let go by the club - it was documented at the time we were willing to let him go, certainly Ten Hag at least. They need telling in front of all the viewers that no-one wanted the cnut.

His me me me attitude was easier to stomach when he was banging in 40 goals a season and taking a piss out of defenders.
Now it is just cringe.

Best team performance of the season yet of course these are the morning headlines

Might honestly be worth releasing him to get rid of the incessant circus

Well I think it definitely hurt him feeling no longer needed and could offer nothing much to this team. But sooner or later, he has to accept reality. I think January exit would be only way out for both him and for us.

Can't understand these fans sometimes. I am a huge Ronaldo fan but what he did yesterday was disrespectful. I would honestly discipline him and let him go in January even if we don't get a striker as replacement. Good luck finding another top club in europe with that attitude.

I love the excuses people came up with. Oh he wanted to go treatment or whatever... I mean it was 5 mins.

He didn't play, team had the best performance of the season, he wanted the limelight so walked off. Selfish ****.

I keep hearing he is a team player, professional but all I keep seeing is him throwing his toys out the pram.

People talk about United blocked a move for him, mainly from his fancs (Goldbridge), yet I am yet to see anywhere where a team actually came in for him.

There was no interest, humble yourself.

Didnt he basically admit he's worshipping Ronaldo like he's his god?
There's entire threads of some pretty strange worshipping. Again, a grown man calling another man a "religion" and calling his support of him "worship"

"If your son played for City and scored for them one day, would you cheer for him?"
"abit of cult thing in terms of my support/worship, I won’t be ashamed to admit it, as I have already stressed that I could only speak for myself."
"Whereas Ronaldo to me, he is more of “religion” or even a “cult” thing to me, rather than just a hobby, hence I am comfortable to admit myself as a Ronaldo fanboy"

So yeah.

Is it true that the option to trigger the extention lies with Ronaldo?

More like a few minutes early leave from work than what you have described here (walking out of job for a day). Sometimes people do leave early from work, it happens, not that it was professional or anything, and boss has the right to get a little pissed off of course, but it’s not as serious as some of you has made out to be. As I’ve observed, some people like to act like a drama queen and make a big meal out of everything.
It's the equivalent of leaving work 40 minutes early when you don't have a flexible job and need to stay until the last minute.

More than simple professionalism, it's outright disrespectful to your teammates, and that's the worst part. There's no coming back from this IMO. It's made easy by him being retirement level anyway, but the right thing to do is to kick him out of the dressing room.

Just saw rio’s and morgan’s comments…
Waiting for Keane’s, Gary’s, Castle’s, CR7’s sis and the CR7 timelines’ comments for more laughs

Hopefully ETH suspend him for the Chelsea game to make a statement.
This for me would cement ETH as a United level manager for me. For too long our managers have been player pleasers and pandered to the stars. For once we’d have a coach who would have the cojones to prioritise the club over the player - disrespect will not be tolerated. In the same way Sir Alex ditched Stam, Beckham, Keane, RvN and was en route to booting Rooney out too.

Hopefully we won’t have to put up with him much longer. We’ve just got 4 more league games before we next play on the 26th Dec. So 5-6 league games at max we have to carry this sulk.
Yeah, World Cup being played in November and December doesn't sound so bad when you look at it from that perspective  let's hope Martial can be back soon.

Is it a new thing where the manager asks a sub to warm up but not put him on?

Rio sometimea confuses words. Here is some help:

Rio: ‘The only reason for not playing Ronaldo against Spurs, is if Ten Hag wants to save a goalless draw for the weekend’

Rio: ‘He should start more often than not. They should fire him. I don’t what I think.’

Rio: ‘The problem you have when being a manager, is that you have to think carefully about what you do. That’s why I’m not a manager.’

Rio: ‘United won 2-0 against Tottenham, and all I want to talk about is Ronaldo. That can’t be right’

Surprised that some people still think we should've let him go in the summer. We got zero offers for him, zero. Clubs even went out of their way to deny any links. Only concrete interest reported by the media was from Chelsea and Tuchel blocked the move. He isn't here against his will, he's here because he has no other options, and missing pre season is on him as well, so he's responsible for this whole mess.

What we do know from Ten Hag is disciplinary breaches result in not being selected for the next game.

Ronaldo is making Ten Hag's job easier for dropping him against Chelsea.

I dont get why people dont understand that we cannot play Ten Hag's way with Ronaldo.

I could have lived without him doing this, but a silver lining is this whole saga imo is only helping ETH’s credibility in the dressing room.

I love him just as much as other posters here but that doesn't mean I'm blind or pretend he's a perfect person because none of us are. Obviously I'm not happy with the whole situation, I never wanted him to come back because I was afraid of the standards people would judge him for, even last season as he kept helping the team and putting in some amazing performances some people were just relentless in pounding him on this forum. I was afraid things could wrong even by the slightest and somehow he'd kinda diminish what he did in his first stint at United. I'm not a born United fan but it is and has always been my 2nd club ever since the 1999 CL final, and one the things I've wanted so much to be able to watch since he came back was to have another opportunity to see United and him working to get to win some titles. Unfortunately things have taken a turn in the wrong direction so I'm obviously gutted. emotionally, and it's rare I feel that way but it is what it is.

I don't like seeing him not apologizing to fans or leaving early. I wish he helped himself more sometimes, because he has a legion of fans, and he could just do the bare minimum some times and he could easily avoid getting mauled for dumb reasons like leaving early. Many of the people who don't particularly rate him anymore or like him still respect him, and as such I wish he'd keep some behaviours to himself, I understand things are frustrating for him right now, but he has to learn, even if it takes some times, that invariably you need to keep some emotions in check in front of the public eye.

This situation doesn't benefit anybody from Ronaldo to Erik Ten Hag, so I wish they sit down and have a long and serious conversation about things, because it's by talking calmly that two sides of the equation can understand what's best for everyone. My hearfelt wish is that the club, Ronaldo, and Erik, all make the best decisions to both Ronaldo and the club, if possible. I'd like to see something happen that can benefit both sides, because I do indeed love the club and the player. If that means staying, it means staying, if it means leaving, that's okay too, I believe he came in and gave it his best every single day, and even if this season isn't going well, I think it's clear for me at least last season he came in and regardless of how things went during the season, he kept fighting until the end, but sometimes things don't work out in the end and it's absolutely normal. If it's best for both sides to part ways, as much as it makes me sad, then so be it.

You also wonder if Ten Haag being so tough on this is improving his status with the rest of the team. Really coming across as a proper leader, after the weak way in which Ronaldo was handled last season.

I recall a time last season when Redcafe lost their everloving shit because Ronaldo was benched against Everton. Then they universally agreed with critics of said benching because sir Alex was recorded stating that you always start with your best players. We were up 1-0 at half time. Ronaldo came on in the 2nd half. We did not win the game (Mostly because of Harry Maguire, but Ronaldo didnt change anything).

CR7 was named the team MVP last season. Im not sure what the problem with his handling was last season. We didnt have any bench options to replace him with.
