Ronaldo (37) Slaps Phone Out of Child’s (14) Hand | Charged after 5 months of deliberation

Get a new phone pay the contact for 3 years or so, done deal, move on send the mother a phone as well, send the whole family phones, he can afford it, seems that's won't be enough, perhaps he should be put on community service picking litter up in there estate or something like that, jeez making something out of nothing . New phone move on cheers.

Of course it will be enough. What's prolonging the discussion is trying to mitigate it.

The boy’s mum looks as if she’s well pleased that her lad was hit by Ronaldo. Way to go about making a mountain out of a molehill; she’s milking every drop of money and attention she possibly can from this before the story fades into oblivion. Her first port of call was to immediately ring up the Echo - looks like someone not too displeased that her moment in the spotlight has finally arrived. Bear in mind, she would have fully known the unfair attention that would have been shone on her autistic, 14 year old lad too. He doesn’t need that, even if he is an abusive so and so (can’t confirm for sure, as there have been contrasting reports. Blameless otherwise).

Just take Ronaldo’s compensation, ask him to get the lad a new phone and move on. The most tedious story of 2022.

If I was the parents I'd absolutely be milking it for all it's worth. Because why wouldn't you want to inconvenience Ronaldo in any legal, financial or professional way that easily available to you. He's the cnut who smacked your autistic kid's phone out of his hand for no good reason, feck him. Whatever the limited consequences you can push for him to face, push for.

Imagine your first port of call being the Sun newspaper despite coming from the same city as the 97 people who were tragically killed at Hillsborough, and had their names badly tarnished and disrespected by said newspaper.

Imagine taking the time to write a statement like this without reading the article.

*Spoiler alert* She didn't speak to "The Sun".

You will have to find a different way to attack her character.

I'm finding it very amusing that anyone can defend any 37 year old breaking 14 year olds phone. If it happened in any other situation the adult would be a pariah, immediately and universally. But we attack the kid and the mother instead.
Agreed. It’s Ronaldo though, moses. Dude has grown men idolising/worshipping him. Probably similar for a lot of famous people in fairness. Not just Ronaldo.

It’s just what any winner would do. Not in any way the actions of a 3 year old being told it was bath time.

At 14 I would have been honored if the GOAT and united legend would have smashed my phone and would have considered it an honor I got to touch the avtar of football divinity.

I saw the footage and the abuse the (our) players were getting was horrible. Those doing the abusing barely sounded human! As usual the context is everything.
After another piss poor performance, in a piss poor team, I can see how even a senior pro might lose the rag and lash out. It’s happened before and it will probably happen again.
That’s not excusing it but I don’t think any less of Ronaldo either.

He shouldn't have done it and should be able to control his anger but you would swear, he ran over to a 12 year old sitting quietly playing Tetris in the park and took his phone off him and f**ked it into the nearby lake. All the while pissing himself laughing and pointing at him while he walked away.
The crowd were scum with the abuse they were giving to the players working off.
Never should have done it mind you.

 talking about being attacked like he's set about him.
She's milking it for all it's worth.
Which is to be expected, he shouldn't have reacted like that but come on, 'attacked'.
He was attacked. Someone doesn’t need to kick the living shit out of you for it to be an attack.

Put yourself in her shoes. She has a 14 year old autistic son takes him to his first game out and ends up being in close proximity to a player he really likes and he gets a smack on the hand for filming him (which is entirely legal and he’s well within his rights to do).

I know we’re joking around here but he is still a child and in other other public space nobody would jump to the defence of the 37 year old adult male in his prime doing this to a kid who hasn’t provoked him abs has just filmed. Anyone on here with kids would know that if anyone slapped your kid you’d want them dealt with appropriately. Ronaldo absolutely should not be allowed to do this give some half arsed apology and move on.

He needs to learn actions have consequences even if the consequences are just some ridicule on social media and a slap on the wrist from the old bill.

What do you feel would be an appropriate and proportionate punishment?

Fine, she didn’t and I apologise for that and have edited my post as Hillsborough is a devastating topic. However, bottom line, she ran straight to a newspaper who aren’t angels themselves and used words like ‘bruised and battered’. Anyone who thinks she isn’t milking it for all it’s worth is delusional.

It’s literally just a slap on the wrist. Not a big issue in context of other things happening in the world.

Jesus Christ, calm down.
You're acting like he's come running off the pitch, frothing at the mouth and wild-eyed.
He's just slapped the phone away.
Massive drama from very little.

"Only people with kids would understand"

I have 2 kids. And no, I probably wouldn't be making a huge drama. I'd just expect the phone to be replaced. Because the bottom line is, he's not slapped a kid.

The kid gets one free slap with a disproportionately large fish of his choice. I got a few bites from the Ronaldo hardcore so plenty to choose from.

I couldn’t care less. Bottom line, she ran straight to a newspaper who aren’t angels themselves, and you’re delusional IF you don’t think that she’s milking it for all it’s worth.

Bottom line

Listen mate you didn't even bother to read an article before using it against her so forgive me if I don't take your word as gospel.

She didn't speak to "The Sun" so you are the one who seems to be delusional, not me, I just corrected you after you wrote this

"Imagine your first port of call being the Sun newspaper despite coming from the same city as the 97 people who were tragically killed at Hillsborough, and had their names badly tarnished and disrespected by said newspaper."

Which was obviously an attempt to prove how little morals she has and you moved the goalposts because you were wrong.

Read the edited post. I’ve read the article.

Any news story about a 14 year old would ordinarily refer to them as a teen or a youth, unless it wanted to paint them as a victim.
I'm just trying to figure out if you think it's weird that people in this thread are calling them a child or not, or if it's just because the news are doing it and you think it's just them doing their usual ragebait shite (usually with a few words in capital letters, and in this case with a sad face picture of a mum holding a picture of Messi).

So I just ran the numbers on my redcafe calculator and given that he's 14 if we signed him on a 5 year contract he'd be 18 before the end of it.

Ergo I think we can safely say he's a full grown adult now

I can only unconfirm that.

Referring to a 14 year old as a child is fecking weird. Mol will back me up on this.

A 14 year old is definitely still a child. The difference in mindset, behavior and mannerisms to that even of a 16 year old is massive. There’s no way I’d consider 14 year olds as a whole “young adults” although there are individual cases of higher maturity.

So its all in the hands of the police now...no chance of settling this case unless the mother has a change of heart?

And after 20 years, the phone will still be proudly exposed in your living room. :wenger:
