Ronaldinho

Look at what everyone hear is saying. We want a front four of Nani Valencia Rooney and Ronaldinho playing in an attacking midfield role which means Carrick would be sacrificed in all probability so yeah it's fair to compare the 2 people who are fighting for a place/

:wenger:

When has Carrick ever played for us in the attacking midfield position(Barring possibly a few matches although I can't even remember a single match he played in a advanced midfield role). He has always played for us and Spurs in the holding midfielder role or as the deep lying playmaker role

So Fletcher would be the only midfielder with defensive responsibility? That wouldn't work at all, especially when you consider the likes of Evra and Rafael/Neville playing at fullback as well.

The only way it would work is if he played out wide but at this point I consider Nani and Valencia better and more reliable options. Ronaldinho was a brilliant player but his time has passed.

Not really. He could play behind Rooney in a 4-2-3-1. With Fletcher and one other doing the dirty work behind him.

Would work brilliantly if ronaldinho sorted it out. With a bench of: Foster, O'shea, Evans, Carrick,Scholes, Giggs, Berbatov.

Thats a strong squad without mention of park, obertan, gibson or anderson.nobody on here can honestly say they wouldnt have like to be able to bring Ronaldinho on against blackburn last month, or fulham in november. He has a creative side we dont and is one of those players that when playing well makes everyone on his side more confident. i say it could be the best gamble Fergie ever takes.

I could actually see this happening.

Get him on a cheap to sit in the hole for two years before Pogba takes his rightful place as our midfield dynamo, which he will.

It could be quality, with Hargreaves, Fletcher, and Anderson competing for the deeper midfield roles.

r-o-nal-de-nee-oh, r-o-nal-dee-nee-oh, r-o-nal-dee-nee-oh, r-o-nal-dee-ne-oh.

Unfortunately that ship has sailed.

we would have loved to have him all those years ago but now he is not ideal. It's better to bring in some talented young players who wouldn't be commanding a huge salary for their services. We need to think long term and Ronaldinho isnt what we need.

NO THANKS! the day you start getting owned by the Gary neville of today you know your best days are long behind you....not to mention hed stand in the way of the very exciting development of Nani who looks to be growing in stature by the week now.

Ronaldinhio is a pure luxary player, wouldnt fit in here at all.

Do Not Want.

The chances of seeing Ronaldinho sign a new deal with Milan are diminishing as neither party can reach an agreement, according to Telelombardia and 'Qui Studio, Voi Stadio'.

On Tuesday Ronaldinho's brother and agent Roberto De Assis was in Milan, where he met with CEO Adriano Galliani to revive the embers of previous failed extension talks.

Ronaldinho's deal expires in 2011 and he is on wages of €8 million per annum. Milan are offering him a one-year extension and want him to spread the €8m wages across two seasons: 2010-11 and 2011-12, meaning he will have to accept a 50 per cent wage cut to fall in line with the club's new €4m salary cap which comes into effect next term.

Upon hearing the proposals, De Assis said no. Ronaldinho feels he shouldn't have to adjust his current contract and take a pay cut from September. Normally, under his current deal he would have earned €8m next season, but Milan want to slash that to €4m.

Furthermore, the Brazilian wants a two-year extension, but Milan are not prepared to yield. The club's slash costs policy is not helping either.

The new developments have cast new doubts over his future, with rumours claiming he will move to a club that can guarantee him the wages he wants.

Shitty bound i fear.

On a free definately, still capable of the sublime if treated right.

Doesn't Ronaldinho does relatively well in AC Milan this season? I haven't seen him at the level of the game vs ourselves at San Siro for years. Don't think they want to sell him. According to wiki he has 13 goals and 16 assists this season - so he can do some good.

We should go for a younger option.

befopre they played us i woudl have said yes, but not as a winger, through the middle where he might be more effective and where we need somone like him most...
but his defensive duties were non existant.

perhaps that was an order from the manager, or him jsut being lazy

i think anderson would be able to learn alot from him.

Well I think he would be a good option. Against us, when he had the ball he was a danger. He is a luxuary player but in the hole could be exciting. I think he'd score goals, create and have the confidence to believe in himself and obviously the cheaper the better :)

There are negatives but 30 isn't the end of the world. It depends on the player. To be put it in perspective. He's 6 years younger then Giggs who is a much harder worker then he'll ever be. The real risk is in the player delivering but it would be a challenge for him and under Sir Alex, you just don't know

if he got his act together then of course, he's still one of the worlds best in form

however i dont think we'll ever consistently see him like that again, not even under Fergie. 'Dinhos too long in the tooth now (pun intended) he's clearly happy playing well occasionally, eating and partying continuously and winning things very rarely, if ever for the rest of his days. and part of me says good luck to him

He won't be the best player in the world again. That said, I think the way people are kind of disregarding his performances for Milan this season is a bit odd. He has been very very good and is putting up some really solid numbers to prove it. That said, he is operating on the left wing and would probably displace Nani if he was in our side. I doubt the same could be said of Joe Cole or most other left sided alternatives who would probably play off the bench more often.

Our wingers are promising but the situation is a bit odd really, both Valencia and Nani are best on the right. But we can't sit either of them, A) because they are performing well and B) lest we hinder their development. The scenario kind of prevents us from bringing in a natural left sided winger who might make that side better. Instead, we are kind of stuck in the middle, hoping that Nani can keep developing at this rate and evolve into a fantastic left sided winger

Anyways, don't see this happening. Best of luck to him and will always enjoy watching him play...

No, thank you. I used to adore Ronaldinho, but he's past it and it's usually not our way to sign players who have their best times behind them just because they are big names.

I'd much rather see Nani.

I wasn't proposing him as a LW, but as an attacking midfielder to play behind Rooney and alongside Nani and Valencia.

Would be some team that!

Dinho looked great again last night and must be a man with a point to prove now after being left out of the WC squad. We could do much worse than give the fella a go under Ferguson.

If I knew he'd get his act together and give it his all and not just turn up for the pay check and smile to the fans I'd personally carry him from Milano to Manchester. Unfortunately there is absolutely no chance we'll ever see even half the player he once was. For all the credit that (deservedly so) goes to Ronaldo and Messi they haven't got shit on Ronaldinho. He could rip teams apart single-handedly and always turned up against the very best.

It is an option worth looking at, I don't think if we signed him it would be for midfield, we seem to like all our midfield players, wingers included to have a certain work ethic and defensive responsibilty, he does'nt check that box, but he does come alive in the final third and he could play anywhere up top in a front 3 or play off Roo in a 4-4-2. His qualities on the ball and from set pieces need no introduction he is World class and a total match winner out of nothing, the big question mark is over his mental state, he has won everything, is he still motivated? If anyone could get him to the top of his game Fergie could. I think it could work for us and would be a great attacking addition but you just think signing a 30 year old on crazy wages is just not in the club's recruiting policy so realistically I don't see it happening. The other side though is that any World class younger players that would be on our radar are now costing you £40-60m which we won't sanction either so what do you do, sign nobody and fall behind? I believe this is the calibre of player we need in though to take away the total reliance on Roo.

Exactly. He'd have a similar impact to what Cantona had on the 93 team, if he added him in that role to this current side. Few can match his creative genius still. All he need is others to do the work and running for him as he takes care of the magic. It works well at Milan. It would work much better for us.

Plus, He has that awesome passing skills to boot. I swear some of his passes were scholesy like!. Though not with the same frequency!. Yes, he'd do very well in the AM role !

It won't happen but I wouldn't mind if it did, he's still capable of being an exciting player.

Why did he hug every single person on the bench when he was subbed off yesterday? Is he going somewhere? Retiring? Saying goodbye before his usual prolonged holiday?

Too big a risk. He won't work hard enough, and save for an act of god there is little chance he will ever get back to his Barca best. Shame really, cause the only one stopping Ronaldinho from being a legend, is the man himself.
