Romeo Lavia | Chelsea bound?

Liverpool want to act fast and the bid has been ready but not sent for a week. Even my procrastinating arse would be proud of that.

He will go there unfortunately and they have rebuilt that midfield annoyingly well
So they would have brought 3 players from Brighton, Southampton and the German league. For all 3 of them to settle into a big club, with expectations higher than they have ever experienced, is not going to be easy!

My thoughts exactly.

I get the Lavia love in but get a grip people, this won’t simply slot into place for them.

People desperately overrate the “big club big expectations” thing for most players. It’s a tired cliche at this point unless you’re talking about a teenager.

I'd have him over Amrabat personally, although I'll take either over Fred or McTominay. I certainly don't want Liverpool getting their hands on him, mind.

Thing is you buy players to fit your system, a player in the right system can look a few orders of magnitude better than they are.

I'm not saying Lavia is bad or Amrabat is great, I'm purely saying you can put a player in a team and they look shit then take them to a team that plays to their style and they look like a world beater.

United need a certain type of player and Amrabat according to ETH fits the bill, not only that but Amrabat is a warrior and a leader, and he wants a team of leaders, that fight and that are aggressive you want a winning dressing room that when you are fighting against a Man City or a Liverpool that they leave everything on the pitch.

Can you imagine coming up against AWB, Martinez, Casemiro, Amrabat, mixed with Varanes experience, Shaw is tidy on the ball, I think as a back 6 thats hard to play against. You also have Onana who is brilliant on the ball.

Lavia is top class potential but a lot of youngsters are a bit sheepish I don't think its what United need right now

Mac Allister: started in and won a World Cup final 8 months ago. Has played in the EPL for a few years.

Szobozslai: regularly played in champions league for Leipzig and Salzburg.

Lavia: made a first team appearance for City in the FA Cup.

I expect Liverpool to struggle a bit early because they’re rebuilding basically their whole midfield, but I doubt any of them will struggle with the expectations given their experience.

If they sign him fair play but I think they need an established 6 for lavia to back up. He's no where near the finished article

Wasn't the initial bid £35m + £5m in add-ons? Very weird that we needed more than a week to table an "improved" offer that's only £1m higher (add-ons included).

They got £40m for Fabinho, but here they are low balling

They overpayed a bit for Nunez, then followed it up by buying Gakpo - a player they didn't really need for a further 40-45 million. They've spent about 80 million this summer already on Mac Allister and the hungarian lad whose name I am not going to spell.

They didn't get money for Milner, Firminho or Keita and are losing about 7.5 million on the Mane deal as his add-ons cannot be met since he left Bayern early.

I'd not be shocked if the reason they are scrimping on Lavia is because they are close to their FFP limit even with getting 40 million for Fabinho and 10 million for Henderson

Very unlikely since we apparently had in excess of £300m room to spend, according to this article published right before the start of the World Cup last season. It's possible that we simply don't have the money to do a lot more business, but it doesn't seem to be anything FFP-related.

Fair play to Southampton, but it’s good for the game that bigger clubs cannot just pinch relegated players easily.

They’ll sign him but expect them to end up paying what Southampton want or very close to.

Is he any good? City have a buy back clause for him, don’t they? Hope Soton rinses the dippers in this deal if he’s going to them

Yeah talented player, however just feels like Erik wants someone a little more experienced

The best move for him would have been to a Brighton if they sold Caicedo. I like him as a player, but don't think he is ready for a club who is needing to win every week.

Yeah they are good at developing further

To be fair, why would they take 41m when they can keep him a year and almost guarantee that 40m buy back will be activated by City or at least get that from another team. 50m is more than reasonable, especially as he classes as homegrown.

Lavia could be a very good signing for Pool but dont think he is the one for us right now if he wants to be a starter.
His technique is extremely good but lapses in concentration means he messes up some simple passes, pretty similar to Kone in that respect.

Other than being nowhere near as highly rated as Lavia?
We saw lot of highly rated players flop and underrated players shone well too. As of now he is not finished article just highly rated.

The best hope is that Chelsea and even PSG come in for him and push the price way up. Want to see Liverpool spend the full 50 at a minimum.
