Romelu Lukaku

I don't think he's lazy, it's just his big body mass makes him get very tired quickly. When he's fresh he's a beast and can bully any defence, but his stamina soon drains and then becomes sloppy with his touch and lacks movement. If he can control that as he gets older he will be very good.

You are maybe right, he is a bit too heavy.

He's got the frame of a heavyweight boxer which really isn't suited to a cardio sport like football. I have a friend who looks identical to him in size/muscle and he's great for 10 minutes in 6 aside then is puffing terribly, and is useless

A forward that scores goals.Now there's a novelty.

Not saying that is not valuable. I think it bears pointing out though, given how many people keep thinking he could ever be anything like drogba because he is big and black.

Would take him for around £15m which is about what he's worth. He just isn't that good.
Everton got bent over by Chelsea paying £28m........

I don't get the snobbish attitude towards him. The guy has almost scored 100 goals in his career and he's only 22. He's quick, a decent dribbler and can score goals. There are parts of his game that still need work but there's no reason why he can't work on them and become a fantastic player in the near future.

We need a world class player, Lukaku isn't and will never be world class.

We may as well have signed Benteke if we're looking at players that might be "good enough" rather than world class.

Neither do I.

I think if you gave both him and Rooney 38 league games as Uniteds #9, take away pens & free kick duty and Lukaku would out score him imo.

There's no world class players available.

With the right team and playing in his right position Lukaku could become an excellent player if not a world class one.

I'd rather have Welbeck.

there's certainly worst strikers out there but i think if we do get him it would have to be for the right price. Given Evertons current stance on players they will probably ask for a fortune and play hardball. So this isn't worth the hassle.

Well, we don't' have Welbeck and aren't getting him back because we decided to blow our load on an injury prone, overpriced and overrated flop. Water under the bridge...

Doesn't stop me thinking it!

Pub players get 44 goals and 15 assists in 2 seasons since he's been at Everton (These stats are including Internationals - 8 goals). If that's a pub player or an average player i wouldn't mind having a couple of them.

Just Lukaku.

Nope, both judging by their respective threads. Anyhow, I certainly don't want Lukaku as I don't seem him being a fit for us and he's still very raw. I don't think he's progressed the way people thought he would when he broke onto the scene as a 16 year old. However, he's not a bad player at all and could still develop further.

Yep. And despite the fact that Welbeck has a pretty horrible goal scoring record, he's the second coming of Christ according to some on here. Shows how bias can scew perception.

Don't think theres anything in this at all.

I can see where his type of player might have appeal to LvG. Rooney's OK in the air but his height lets him down an awful lot. Only time you can really expect Rooney to score headers is when defenders muck up the flight of the ball and Rooney's good positioning allows him an easy chance.

I think if LvG were looking for a bigger presence of power and aerial ability, he's more likely to pay the extra for someone like Lewandowski who's able to play on the floor aswell. Lukaku's first touch is just too horrendous. And I cant see him being adept at quick one-two's with Memphis, Mata, Herrera etc running from the midfield.

Don't forget he had similar hair to begin with too!

Bossing it tonight. Having a good season so far, seems to have kicked on.

4 in 7 in the league, but both were braces. He hadn't scored or assisted in four games in a row (Man City to Swansea). Carthorse player.

Can't believe i argued that he is better then Benteke on this forum just couple of days before. And actually i gave in after few posts. He is class, very talented player.

He's an excellent striker when on form, really a handful for opposition sides and very good in front of goal too. I think there were a lot of overreactions from posters last season who were heavily critical of him due to the fact he didn't have a brilliant season.

Still not sure why Chelsea let him go... seemed like a natural successor to Drogba.

He still has rubbish games but he's having more and more good games. Hopefully he'll finally iron out his inconsistency soon. I don't mind if he doesn't score now and then as long as he puts in a good performance, but previously if he doesn't score he more often than not has a terrible game. But saying that, he's the striker we have been craving for years.

I think he's improved massively so far this season. Was looking like a bit of a donkey at times last season, but in fairness to him he was still only 21 and showing the inconsistency you would normally expect from a young lad. His all round game seems to have improved and with his power he is always going to cause defenders problems. He's certainly done a lot more in his career than the likes of Sterling, Harry Kane and others that are around his age who have received the plaudits left, right and centre.

Yep, it's crazy how much he's criticised or underrated when compared to them.

09/10 - 19 goals. Anderlecht.
10/11 - 20 goals. Anderlecht.
12/13 - 17 goals. WBA.
13/14 - 16 goals. Everton.
14/15 - 20 goals. Everton.
15/16 - 6 goals. Everton.

Funny as his 14/15 season was worse than his 13/14 one but he still managed to get more goals. He's only 22 so that's from the age of 16/17. Crazy tbh.

I didn't deny that. He's not good enough to be leading the line for Chelsa, though.

Top quality strikers are incredibly hard to find these days and Chelsea had a 19 yr old kid who had the potential to be world class and they sold him. I think the way Jose has managed the Chelsea squad in his second term has been really strange.

Fairly certain I'll be right come end of season.

Easily good enough to be the deputy though. He's miles better then both Remy and Falcao... hell, City have Bony as their backup striker and Lukaku is better then him.

It would do absolute wonders for the league if he, Barkley and Stones could all stay at Everton for this season and the next at the very least. Hoping they get a top four finish.
