Romelu Lukaku

It would do absolute wonders for the league if he, Barkley and Stones could all stay at Everton for this season and the next at the very least. Hoping they get a top four finish.

Someone will raid Barkley or Stones off of them.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if we were in for one of them come the summer.

I thought this too. I like herrera and all but i could see LVG replace him with Barkley. Stones is a wonderful player but i dont think there is space im the squad for him. Selling jones and getting stones seems like a bad deal for stones himself never mind us.

Lukaku pretty much won the game off his own bat tonight, excellent second half from him. He needs to be doing it more regularly though, the ratio of these performances vs the ones where he is anonymous is still too far apart.

Hopefully Stones, I think Barkley will need another season to mature at Everton.

Stones can play LCB in the same way Hummels can, not a problem when you are that comfortable on the ball, and he could take Rojo's place in the squad.

Yep, it's crazy how much he's criticised or underrated when compared to them.

09/10 - 19 goals. Anderlecht.
10/11 - 20 goals. Anderlecht.
12/13 - 17 goals. WBA.
13/14 - 16 goals. Everton.
14/15 - 20 goals. Everton.
15/16 - 6 goals. Everton.

Funny as his 14/15 season was worse than his 13/14 one but he still managed to get more goals. He's only 22 so that's from the age of 16/17. Crazy tbh.

I don't know, there's just something about a bad Lukaku performance.

I think Barkley fits our new formation well as the 10 who is really a 2nd striker, but he made some awful decisions tonight. Not sure he's smart enough.

He was good in the second half yesterday, but it must be said that the WBA keeper was woeful and the 2nd/3rd goal should have been disallowed (offside, handball).

Anyhow, it's good that him and Everton are in form for Sunday, the more misery for the red Scousers the better. We are in fine form so I'd fancy us to take Sth back home against them regardless of their form

Im not sure I see Barkley as a LVG no10... he says he prefers a striker for that role rather than a midfielder and whilst I think Barkley would make a fantastic central midfielder I see him as someone who will take a risk with running at his man or heaven forbid a flamboyant trick / pass and again thats not what it seems LVG wants so Im not sure we will be in for him.

Stones I see as Chelsea bound and I wouldnt be surprised to see Barkley end up there either

Why on earth does this rubbish still get trotted out?

because he often runs at his man... which I think is a great thing but its not exactly risk free and if you look at our central midfield its a very solid and stable platform to build from but not one in which there seems licence to play freely - not a bad thing but I dont see that as suiting Barkley particularly
I think at chelsea a midfield three of matic covering and him / fabregas ahead would be great for him.

It's rubbish, but not in this case. Barkley is a bit like Wilshere in that he loves to dribble from deep - around the 'second phase' of play in van Gaal terminology. In this area, ball retention is key, and risks are not to be taken. In the final third is where players are permitted to express themselves. It's sort of evident in Herrera's play, he was very gung-ho with forward one touch passes from deep, and with Di Maria trying his long punted through balls. Both aren't ideal for van Gaal's tactics. I think Barkley (his traits, not necessarily the player) would actually make a good #10, should his finishing and vision/awareness improve a little.

As much as I like Blind, Stones will be an upgrade. Maybe not now, but certainly in the next season or the one after that.

Would of loved us to move for Lukaku, I really rate him. However, now we have martial there is no need, wouldn't want to hinder his progression.

Very interesting statistics to be fair, wouldn't give him so many goals, especially in EPL. And it's very fair argument about other youngsters who get overhyped yet do much worse statistically.

Problem with Lukaku for me is that he's a bit Cavani-esque in my book. You look at statistics and certain matches and everything seems fine if not impressive but at the end of the day I'd rather buy a bag of my own shit rather than Cavani.
