Never understood why we weren't in for him when he was 16 and scoring goals for fun at Anderlecht. Hazard was a sensation at Lille way before we and Chelsea came knocking on the door. I hope we don't make the same mistake with Tielemans.. almost guaranteed he'll turn into a quality midfielder.

I see alot of Tielemans as I'am from Belgium and he is nothing like Lukaku or Hazard. Very inconsisent and even having trouble getting off the bench at Anderlecht. Massive overhyped !

How about £50m + Rooney?
Would never happen, but it would be the perfect deal right now.

I'd snap your hand off, but an Everton fan might snap your head off!

Everton would be mad not to take that deal, given ofcourse that Rooney would want to come and take a salary cut.

Rooney would be massive player for a club like Everton and with £50m they could make some fantastic additional signings to their team.

It was mentioned on Talksport this morning by a press guy that Lukaku has said he would only leave Everton for Real Madrid or PSG. I think we can safely say we are neither of them at the moment.

I used to live in Londerzeel for 15 years (a town between Antwerp and Brussels close to Meise), have a few friends from around Brussel. They all have mixed views on him. Like yourself they do confirm he lacks consistency. However, when he reaches form he stands out as Anderlecht's best player. Inconsistency is quite normal at that age, hopefully we are scouting him at least. Lukaku was also inconsistent at times at Anderlecht I deem to remember. Hazard was Lille's best player for 2-3 seasons in a row and was voted Ligue 1 best young player on a few occasions, Hazard was exceptionally talented, never understood why it took so long for clubs to buy him.

Why are we looking to bring in another CF when Rooney is performing well now? Also if Rooney has to start where is someone like Lukaku going to play?

Rather spend another £30m on a left back to fill in for Shaw. That's the real reason we haven't been playing well.

Lukaku gives you a Plan A, because he's a genuinely good player, and can also provide the Plan B that we're so often told Fellaini gives us. Sign him, get rid of Fellaini, and we're much stronger.

Blaming our poor play down to the loss of a defender, or claiming Rooney is playing well.

Unsure what's worse.

Lukaku has always been destined to be a class player, even at 16 people raved about him and he's living up to the hype.

Just throw 60m at them or Rooney and money or whatever he would be incredible here and will only improve. If we don't buy him someone else will and we will massively regret it for years.

That's a surprising hypthesis. Elaborating on it would the thread-worthy, particular how Shaw or a similar LB would have changed United's current slow motion, pointless possession recycling, 2 shots on target per game style.

Neither nor. Rooney is past it, and the price Everton would have to pay for a decent Lukaku replacement would eat up the majority of what they would get for him, leaving little for additional signings - perhaps one but not more - and even for this player Everton would overpay as basically all EPL clubs do these days.

I agree... he's a target man and also a talented striker who is just 22. I think Lukaku- Martial would be a great combination. Also, we need to spend big for a striker because we are replacing Rooney (sooner or later), a player with more than 10 years with us who has scored around 250 goals.

When Ronaldo was sold, we replaced him with Valencia. So I hope we can sign one of the best goalscorers instead of an average striker.

£60m for Lukaku? Has the world gone mad??

A 22 year old that has scored 113 goals already in 250 games?

He'll be in beast mode in a couple of seasons. He's got all the attributes to be "unplayable".

If you think I actually believe what I wrote.. I feel offended.

While I wouldn't say it's the main cause of our problems, I honestly think it's up there as one of the main causes. Our biggest problem is our lack of width, or to be more exact our lack of speed and running power out wide. Shaw may not have been Evra in that regard, but it was obvious he was growing into that role and was definitely having more impact in an attacking aspect than he was last season. Losing him was a huge blow. It's one of the reasons why I feel that Young really should be one of the fullbacks now, despite not being the biggest fan of his defensive abilities. I just don't rate any of the other options in an attacking sense, so using Young side gives us that width.

Why? Given that you neither used white text nor added a smilie, it would have been offending if I hadn't taken your post seriously.

Of course it didn't help that Shaw was no option for United but your style of play would not be fundamentally different with him on the pitch I suppose.

Our style of play needs width to actually work and stretch the game. With Shaw's injury, Di Maria's failure last season, Memphis not really working out so far, Mata not providing that, and our other fullback options (other than Young) not providing anything in attack, we simply don't have that with the exception of Martial who will normally cut in anyway. Hence a big reason why we look so toothless going forward.

We shouldn't have been so reliant on Shaw providing that width, but unfortunately we were.

Surely proof that I haven't been satisfied with our attack for years.

I'm not sure how many on the Caf go and check previous posts of a user before responding seriously to a comment without any hint of sarcasm. There's really no need to be offended.

I don't understand that tweet and I won't respond to it.
I could be wrong but I beleive 'San Carlo' is an old, old wooden ship used during the Civil War era.

I didn't understand it much, assumed it means - man spotted near decent restaurant in Manchester. Used it as a cheap bump as a means to gauge people's natural reactions to it and see if the opinions were still positive for us to go for him really.

Mourinho loves those strong built center forward from recent memory. He seems like the logical striker choice if he was to manage United. However, I am not sure how Lukaku and Mourinho relationship is, since Mourinho rarely utilized him when he was at Chelsea.

"Choices were made by me. By me. Not by them,” said the 16-goal forward when asked if he regretted not staying at Chelsea given their need for fresh quality. “Everyone says it is Mourinho’s fault but it is not his fault because I made the decision. I went to his office to ask if I could go. He was the first one to say: ‘Good luck.’

“I signed the deal with Everton at 11 o’clock and the first text message I got on my old BlackBerry was from Mourinho saying: ‘Good luck, do your best and I will see you next season.’ He was the first. Nobody knows that and that is why for me he gets immense respect. It is really sad he has to go. He is a great character and a great man. Even though there were words said in the media, I never looked at it because I know what he did and not a lot of managers would do that.”

That sums it up. I guess Lukaku should be an ideal forward for United under Mourinho.

Also he likes experienced strikers. So maybe he could go for someone like Cavani. However, I prefer Ibra for free plus a young striker like Embolo.
If Rooney is sold, I can see United going for someone like Lukaku or Kane.

I d take Benzema, massive bellend off the pitch, but he is great on it. Is he cleared of the Valbuena blackmailing stuff?

Yes, there are rumors linking Lukaku with Real Madrid.

I think at the end they will try to sign Lewandowski. But they will get Morata.

Is anything known by when Real's appeal against the transfer ban will be handled? If the ban isn't lifted, they can't even buy Morata back.
