He isn't dynamic enough and it is hard to think of a less mobile/dynamic striker playing for a top team which suggests it is a criteria that is becoming more and more important.
Koeman said earlier in the season that he could end up at Barcelona. Alan Shearer said this season that Lukaku is well on his way to becoming a world class striker. Conte and Jose are crazy to buy him. I think he's a lot better than you are giving him credit for especially when you factor in his age

So, attacking personnel is the same as playing as a striker? By the way, I have him playing 6 games as a striker. Mkhitaryan has never played as a striker and had more goals than him.
What is your point exactly? I'm not sure where the confusion comes from. Someone suggested that we need to buy two strikers since we're losing two referring to Zlatan and Rooney. I responded that we're not losing two since Rooney was by no means a consistent starter striker for us, at least not as consistently starting as we'd hope one of Morata or Lukaku to be. If we are changing to a two strikers system, then it makes sense to buy both, otherwise, we're adding more numbers which is always a dangerous game.

That Mourinho is crazy about buying him, after he let him go at Chelsea, is a bit weird…

I think this is a carefully manufactured tactic by ourselves and Everton to:

a) Get Chelsea to pay up
b) Make Real nervous and accept a lower fee for Morata

Benefits both clubs really.
Looks that way. Hopefully wrong.

lol lukaku is quick. At old Trafford this year lukaku ran round the outside of Rojo with the ball, only for bailly to come across and tackle. If he can do that to Rojo who isn't exactly slow then he's more than quick enough.
Dynamism and speed are two different things.

We need 2 strikers.

Rashford and Martial can't be relied on for goals, Rooney going, zlatan out.

Can't just have 1 striker. Makes perfect sense.

Matt Lawtons article is worded very strongly.

It'd be quite funny if we've basically disturbed Morata before his honeymoon, caused him to cut it short at various stages to try get the deal done and then go sign Lukaku instead.

My point is, if you lose players of the stature of Zlatan and Rooney, after a season where finishing let the team down, you can't possibly expect to sign just one forward, it makes no sense. Having said that, doesn't mean both have to be players like Lukaku or Morata.

Exactly.

It's obvious we need 2.

You guys putting forth the idea of us signing both Lukaku and Morata realise that would mean a £179m expenditure on strikers in one single summer right?

We are signing one or the other, my guess would be Morata.

Would love to see lukaku at United tbh. Guarantees goals and still really young and always improving. Every striker linked with us is seemingly going for 80-100m, so lets get someone we know will get us 30 goals a season. And to add on, lukaku is good friends with pogba already so why not!

The two things are not strictly related at all. The numbers of strikers or nines in particular we need is strictly dependent on how the manager wants to play. No top team in the current time that plays a one striker system has more than one obvious world class starter. Real Madrid had two this year and are getting rid of one of them. City have been marginalising Agüero since Jesus arrived. Bayern have no decent backup to Lewandowski and neither do Barcelona to Suarez. They are not all stupid, they just know that you can't realistically have two big name strikers and expect them to be happy rotating. The best ones simply don't accept that. Moreover, there are other ways to improve your goalscoring other than stockpiling your squad with nines. The evidence is literally every other top playing today.

Please be true. Lukaku is sort of like a train going full speed with no brakes. Kappa :D

But seriously, I think we're signing both Morata & Lukaku. I can picture a Mourinho formation of 3-5-2 being deployed. The only problem is, we don't have an essential attacking left wing back for a 3-5-2 formation. Young maybe? Oh God...

But if we signed both, we'd pretty much be set in the striker department for years to come.

no because Raiola would rather deal with Ed if tabloids are true, i think its a case of 2+2=5 after rooney story. Morata looks so close to being done, i just dont get the lukaku story

Unless we're set on 2 strikers and a new formation. Morata also can play wide but obviously it would be a waste at £72 million or how much they're looking.

Sounds like Everton and United feeding the press with BS in order to scare both Chelsea and Madrid respectively to crack on and get the deals done for Rom and Morata to me. A spooky coincidence that this story follows on from a day of negotiations between the 2 clubs over Rooney?

got that from a user on GrandoldTeam....think he's nailed it

170m ish for both... just wont happen. Morata deal looks so close

If there was a time Mourinho would spend £170m on a strike force, it'll be after last year. The lack of goals was a piss take. Even with Morata, we're in dire need to power up front. A proven 30 goal a year striker like Lukaku would be sweat. £100 million though? fecking hell.

Look, why are people so sure Mourinho won't try anything other than a one striker system, we he explicitly said he could do it, namely to accommodate Rashford? What was Griezmann coming for, to play on the wing? And Monaco doesn't fit your narrative, for instance.

Like being voted the best looking person in a serious burns ward.
Thanks, Frankie Boyle.

Not really, there's a few decent journalists around. There's far more bad ones alright but enough good ones whereby an award for being the best is a very good achievement and a sign of credibility.

It would be closer to £160M since Morata is going for something like 75M Euros. Shouldn't be unthinkable knowing that we are cash generating machine pretty much, with healthy fundamentals.

Somehow I feel like if Mou was gonna get another striker it would be Belotti. Just doesn't feel like Lukaku is suited to a 2 up top

Either a ploy to get another clubs attention (either Real or Chelsea) or Ed's engaged muppet mode

Whilst I agree Mourinho would probably be happy to bring in two forwards, I doubt Woodward will sanction spending over £160m on two players in one window.

Depends how much perisic would cost 50m euros at almost 29 vs 80m at 24. Also worth bearing in mind the griezmann transfer collapsed, which was seperate to the striker situation. Front three of lukaku, morata, mkhitaryan?

weird though that suddenly out of thr blue, lukaku, morata, costa, and rooney all seem close to moves at same time

Was it daily mail sports journalist of the year? Seriously though if that means its confirmed then great.

Overall sports journalist award.

It was mainly because of his exclusive coverage of the Mackay racist texts story at the time.

Please God don't let this be true. £100M for this donkey? Seriously? You can't even say he's good for marketing or anything like that. £100M for him? Surely we can't be that stupid. We are going to pay £100M for him?
