That sound quite petty tbh. He could have followed advice and still missed or on another day his own choice ends up in the back of the net. If it were me I'd go with my own intuition as well.
You're missing the point - he ignored Jose. You know how 'sensitive' and petty our manager is. It doesn't take much for him to start a feud with someone for some perceived slight.

@Orc
We're playing in a shit load of competitions next year so having 4 strikers for 2 positions makes sense. Also the fact is we still dont have a left sided player if Perisic is indeed signed as a wingback.
Anyway, the likes of Fellaini / Herrera / Carrick / Mata / Mkhi / Lingard / Darmian and Martial were all routinely rotated last year. Hell our reserve goalie started a lot of games so Jose clearly does rotate his squad.

Pexbo - £100M for Lukaku?? How can you get your head around that, the guy is not that good. Yes, he showed up in the 2nd half of the season, but where the feck was he in the first half of the season for Everton? £100M for a half season player?

He's a 20+ goal a season striker. Clumsy but there's another level to be reached in his game. I think people forget that he's only 24 yet he's got 145 goals to his name. At the same age Rooney had 114 playing in much better sides.

Unlike Rooney, Lukaku has a body that will last the years. He will score another 150+ goals by the time he is 31.

Had a wee look on RAWK. This is what one of them had to say. Apparently it can only be good news for them if we sign Lukaku. I'm not saying we will sign him but ffs...In what fecking way would it be good for them? :wenger:

kinda hoping Utd get Lukaku now, they are still well off challenging for the league and if it results in turmoil at Chelsea one of the favourites for the league, can only be good news.

Well, I'm going to respectfully stick to my opinion. I have no faith in him.

Still, this isn't confirmed and hoping it's not true.

this all stems from a Daily Mail article?
One of their best and most reliable journalists has run with it.

John Cross and David McDonnell of the Mirror are also running with it and they'd be considered decent in terms of having contacts.

Can't see Jose swapping out a system that has brought him unparalleled success over so many years. Could be wrong though, maybe he thinks it's time for a change.

Still, 2 top tier strikers in the same window? Seems a huge stretch even for United.
Unless morata played on the left like he did at juve or behind the strker. We werent getting any joy on perisic and we failed to sign griezmann. Maybe we'e just decided to focus on two quality players we knpw are available.

This has to be a plan to push Chelsea into gear. Weird timing with the news of Costa heading to Atlético breaking today and now these stories coming out. Seems like Everton are trying to push Chelsea into moving for him.

As I said earlier, I wouldn’t opposed to signing him, but I don’t think we are. Doesn’t seem to fit.

Both massively overpriced but I'd prefer Lukaku over Morata. Think we'll get the latter and this is either a ploy by us to tell Madrid we have other options, or by Lukaku's camp to get Chelea to push through the deal.

If we are really going for him, the Rooney aspect probably brought the price down for us as we must have been baulking at the 100m price, that or Mourinho knew exactly when to slam Woodward in public, its like he's now become possessed and is trying to go hard for both the hope he lands one, and possibly both as a bonus.

Koeman said earlier in the season that he could end up at Barcelona. Alan Shearer said this season that Lukaku is well on his way to becoming a world class striker. Conte and Jose are crazy to buy him. I think he's a lot better than you are giving him credit for especially when you factor in his age
I obviously am not qualified to argue against the views of managers of that calibre. However, we don't really know if Mourinho is really interested in him, the only fact we have is that he got rid of him once. Koeman was also his manager at the time he said that and I can point to many instances where managers said similar things about their players. We should simply wait and see I suppose.

I read on one Chelsea forum that he ignored Jose's advice about how to take some penalty or the other, thought he knew better and then proceeded to miss it.
I can see that attitude going down well with jose

I'd do the same. You take a penalty how you want to take a pen. If you miss, you miss. He could have easily missed if he listened to Jose.

I really can't make my mind up about Lukaku.

Pros: Knows EPL, strong, bit of pace
Cons: Sporadic and tends to go missing in big games, £100m is ridiculous

I haven't given him any thought because I didn't see this coming, can someone make my mind up for me?

It's unlikely to happen but I would like to see Morata and Lukaku come in.

We're a team already lacking goals and losing Ibra and Rooney (goals and wages). I think we need 2 new strikers. Having Martial, Rashford, Morata and Lukaku would be a lesser version of Rooney, Ronaldo, Tevez and Berbatov but still effective.

Would be a fan of such movements, even though unlikely.

His first touch is awful, I must admit to not really being impressed by this fella.

I'm not fussed on us spending £100m on him, would love to see the meltdown at Chelsea. Conte would be ripping, they have knicked a few of us in the past. Think it's rubbish though, convenient timing with Rooney heading to Everton.

Brilliant news if true, all those slating this move will soon shut up moaning when he starts banging in goals for fun. His record speaks for itself. He's a top quality Striker.

Welcome lukaku (hopefully)

So wouldn't Rashford's future as a striker be shot to shit if you signed 2 young, ultra expensive forwards? When would he ever get serious playing time in his actual position since we all know Mou rarely rotates in the important competitions?

You sound like a worried man. Or woman.

There really is no meltdown happening on their forum. They don't want him and are in fact hoping we get him.

One advantage of buying Lukaku over Morata is that you are weakening one of your main competitors if you buy Lukaku (Chelslea). There's no way Lukaku stays at Everton this season and I can't see Chelsea splashing the sort of money Real Madrid want on Morata.

He's always a tricky one for me. So many times he was laughably bad for either Belgium or Everton, but at the same time his scoring record is quite amazing for his age in this league. I wonder what he'd do now at a bigger club and I think that we're going to find out either way. For me though, this rumour is more of a Everton's play to hasten things up with Chelsea.

But maybe Real Madrid make a bargain Morata for Chelsea and he ends up being great there.

I'm not too fussed about his first touch, it's all those touches that end up in the back of the net that matter to me.

If Rooney is going to Everton which is looking likely then of course we should be trying to sign him.

I'm totally expecting Utd by the morning to distance themselves from these rumours when it becomes clear that Raiola leaked the whole thing to the media to speed Chelsea up paying up for him. 100% I am expecting that to happen when I wake up tomorrow. But...Lukaku is a typical Jose striker. A monster up front who defenders hate playing against who will bully you and who is obviously pretty handy at playing too. Not expecting any truth in it but he'd be a great signing

OK seems this one has some legs. Lukaku and Morata would certainly go some way to improving our goal output.

Everyone calm to feck down and get yer heads out of your arses  There's absolutely NO WAY in hell we're signing BOTH Lukaku and Morata:lol::lol:

If anything, it's that old snake Raiola up to his old tricks trying to hurry up the move from Chelsea's end. €170M+ for the (lack of) quality of strikers in Morata and Lukaku would turn United into a complete laughing stock. We're only getting one and at this point it's more likely than not it's Morata. Chelsea have pretty much had Lukaku locked in for some time now and don't see any reason why that changes all of a sudden.

Lukaku and Morata both signing would be comparable to our last window. Get a midfielder and a fullback and it might be one of our best ever (with Lindelof already signed).
