Also, people hammering on the price need to calm down. Everton are certainly not going to get anything near 100m.

For a player entering the last year of his contract and that it's well known he wants to leave, Everton don't have a lot of bargaining power here.

He'll go for 50m-60m and that would be completely fair given his goal-scoring record and what you would want for a PL striker.

The more I think about it, the more I want big Rom here.

I think he'd stay for years and would link up so well with Pogba.

I also think he'd play well with Rashford coming in off the wing and linking up with him.

Yeah, I want Rom here.

It's probably one of things, yes.
Romelu didn't want to be on the bench behind Alice Band Torres and wanted to keep his place on the national team. Good reasons for leaving even if he was a bit mouthy at the time!

100m is just a negotiating position from Everton and I suspect an attempt to get Lukaku to force the issue and give up any payoff he would be due. Reality is that no one apart from us and Chelsea are really in for him and unless Costs leaves, it's only us with a clear need for him.

I think he's the best option amongst the strikers we're being linked with. Fits into our current tactical setup and has premier league experience. Isn't he already mates with Pogba?

I really don't get the hate for this guy.
I do think this forum is persuaded easily by certain posters at time and that their opinion is fact.

Lukaku to me makes and has always made more sense than Griezmann. This is why I made a thread about a 352 formation as I think it would have been needed to fit Griezmann in properly.
Lukaku on the other hand can slot in a 433 perfect. Add Fabinho as a CDM and you get really good balance.

He's proved in the prem he can score goals regular and is the perfect build for a classic Mourinho type striker

Very true. Would allow Pogba to play his favourte role maruding forward.I'd be tempted to try and add Sanchez for one of the wings to really strengthen our fire power.

------------------------------------Fabinho
------------------------------Herrera----Pogba
----Mata/Mkhitaryan/Rashford----Lukaku----Martial/Sanchez

Lukaku would be a good buy for about 50-60. 100 is completely idiotic and is basically Everton attempting to gouge the market and in the process buy 4-5 new players.

He has 2 years left on his contract

Exactly.

I think he's Chelsea bound in all honesty but I would be happy if we signed him.

It looks like Costa may stay at Chelsea though, surely they wouldn't go for Lukaku if that's the case?

Well any move would obviously depend on Costa. I still have serious doubts about him staying although it looks like a complicated one.

Those are obviously very selective pieces of play but that is just atrocious for a top flight player.
From last season as well, though. He's improved a little but anyone saying that people are believing stereotypes just because he's big is in for a shock if they expect Lukaku to be substantially better than this technically.

Not really excited by this transfer, i believe he is not a striker ready to go deep in the CL, of course it depends on wich team we meet and how they defend, but overall i think he is too limited.

While he is young, let's not forget he started at what 16? He's quite big too. He could tail off somewhat like Rooney earlier then you'd think. So that's to be considered.

Yeah, if he leads a life of debauchery, sure.

You dont score as many goals as he has scored in the most competetive league in Europe without being class. One of the best strikers in the league imo and Rom coupled with a quality winger would deliver us the title.

2016/2017- 25 goals
2015/2016- 18 goals
2014/2015- 10 goals

Clearly a top striker who hasn't hit his peak yet and is getting better over the years. I would be over the moon if we sign him.

Wouldn't be a bad signing. Premier league proven. 100m is silly but I think it will be more like 70m.

I'm not sure where he's going. I know Eden Hazard has said he wants his good friend to come back to Chelsea and the gossip all season has been that he is going back to Chelsea. To be honest I'm not overly impressed. His first touch isn't always great, he sometimes doesn't hold up when he should and he's generally a bit clumsy. I know his goal scoring record is improving but I'd rather Costa stayed and we picked up Morata.

The story at Chelsea is that Michy Batsuyai is going out on loan and Chelsea are looking for another second striker. I can't see Lukaku or Morata going for that.

Get the big lad here. Anyone against this signing obviously doesn't really watch football.

It's pretty well known - I would have thought, anyway - that Mourinho was a fan of Lukaku and wanted him to stick around but Lukaku wanted to be playing regularly. The media of course made up their usual bollox that he and Mourinho had a falling out but it's been proven time-and-again, that these stories were rubbish. Lukaku is exactly the kind of player that Mourinho likes.

None of us know for sure but it is feasible that Mourinho could have talked Lukaku into staying but chose to let him go and wished him good luck. At the time I remember thinking he let him go because he missed a penalty in the UEFA Super Cup final against Bayern. I know this was a year before the sale but he chose to stick with the experienced strikers Eto, Torres & Ba. I think Greizman was the man Jose was looking for but has had to move for Lukaku because that looks like it's off for another year.

I assume Griezmann was the top target alright.

He's a really limited player and technically he's absolute garbage. Do not want.

I hope we don't pay 100m to play defensive lump ball to Lukaku for him to then have the touch of a elephant. With 50m Perisic running into blind alleys on the left and Lingard being Lingard on the right. Then add what another 50m for Varane to keep Jones company in the treatment room. We would be 200 million down and still no better than we were.

I think he would score a lot of goals if he came here. And for all those calling him a flat track bully etc, we could of done with someone similar last year in all those drawn games against smaller clubs. Imagine he would play most games, but also isnt a big enough player that dropping out to rest every now and again and let Rashford play up top might be an issue.

Yeah, it's really bad when highlighted like that. There's enough clips in there to show that he had an atrocious touch almost every game of the season, but maybe that's the case for most strikers.

It's no surprise though that Lukaku's best contributions take place in and around the box.

His first touch with the right foot seems especially poor, something he can certainly work on and get better at no doubt.

It does take someone with a unique disliking for a footballer to produce a compilation like that video.

To be honest, I'd rather we did not sign a 24-year-old footballer with the expectation that he might improve his first touch. That should be in place by that time. Decision-making, awareness, even finishing - I can understand expecting significant improvement in these but basic technique is unlikely to get better at that age.

I'd rather Lacazette all day long; he's the better player and would most likely be a good bit cheaper.

I wouldn't be overly disappointed with Lukaku though. I think he would really help us in the games where we struggle to break through well organise defences i.e. 11 men behind the ball. He's extremely good at backing into his man and turning him while shielding the ball, and has a powerful shot on him. His positioning is good as well. The main problem with Lukaku is that he wouldn't offer us much in build up play, which we have struggled most of the season with.

Fortunately I don't see Mourinho interested at all in Lukaku, it's just the papers making something out of nothing to get clicks.
