Here I thought we'd be celebrating another capture, but instead I see lots of people arguing and being bitter. Am I missing a memo again?

I'd be more interested to see how he'll fit into the squad instead of arguing Kane vs Lukaku or 90m vs 75m ... etc

75 + 15 = 90. An iffy 90m at that given that 15m might not get paid. Even Glaston didn't stretch that to a £100m deal ffs. Might as well call it a £65m deal.

Rooney isn't part of the Lukaku deal.
I'm just going off the sky sports web site mate .

Why are people arguing with Glaston? This is the same poster that was telling us if Spurs sold Sissoko they could just stop paying the money they owed for him

Lukaku will hopefully be a great buy and he's clearly a very good player. I do struggle to forget Blind having him in his pocket a while back though, he has pretty much all the assets to to tear him apart.

Despite the cheeky nature, the point is completely correct. You can't look at the numbers involved as they're simply arbitrary at this point. What you need to look at is the transfer fee as a percentage of our turnover. Looking at it that way us spending 60 - 90m on a player is the same percentage as, for example Palace spending 32m on Benteke. The value is irrelevant, it's the percentage that counts to these businesses.

By that argument, Utd spending 60- 90m on Benteke is the same as Palace spending 32m on Benteke and everyone else is wrong for pointing out the actual difference in price.

It's confusing seeing people talking to themselves, until I realise they're actually replying to that WUM GlastonSpur. The ignore feature is wonderful, I highly recommend it.
I also realised this. but i saw the "show ignored content" tab at the bottom of my page and instantly realised it was the biggest wum on the caf posting. ignore feature is awesome

I'm rather bloody pleased

Any idea what number he'll be wearing? I had thought it would be #9

If you want to play it that way remove the £30mil we were going to pay Rooney in wages and say he cost £70mil. You can't just make up a fee for a player we have let go on a free.

It's already been stated by everyone and his mum that the two deals are separate.
Get you mate 100% . Do you think we will be subsidising some of Rooney wages though ? Or paying him up some ?
It's a lot of money for Rooney to give up if he moves

Take out the pens.

Last two seasons goals from open play:

Lukaku 23+ 17=40
Kane 25 + 20 =45

Assists

Lukaku 12
Kane 8

Goals and Assists combined.

52v 53.

Not much in it.

Kane plays in a better team and all. Let's be honest he's not a patch on Lukaku.

You just need to win a game. 1 goal to win is enough. Tottenham had the best attack & defense. Guess what Chelsea won it just by having more points.

We don't know how team would improve or imploded. Nothing is guaranteed Just like at the beginning of last season, majority was writing Chelsea off. That Chelsea teams improved didn't really improve much from the one that won title 2 seasons prior. Yet, other teams just not improve enough for Chelsea to again ran away with the title.

Thing we know at the moment:

Arsenal will play EL and it's a obvious advantage. Tottenham played the whole season at Wembley. City only seems to fix GK position while only stockpile their attacking options, but they can't field all of them. Their defense improvement is a big question. L'pool made one signing, again in position they already have options.

It's not like our forwards last season were always being double marked in every chance we created. We messed up plenty of 1 vs 1 & some tap in too. Lukaku just needs to score those like he often does then it's good enough already. I am not saying Lukaku is world class, can turn the game around all by himself or anything. I have my doubt on him to reach that level, but it's a different point than what I am talking here.

Ermm, if you are one of the top three marksmen in arguably the best league in the world; you are the top striker for a top 10 ranked football nation in world football (Belgium) and you have just been signed by Manchester United, surely, you have to be 'world class'.

Someone seems awfully bothered about Manchester United buying Lukaku.

It is so people like him can carry on with "yes, he is good, but you paid almost 100mil for him". The same as Pogba.

Don't get the bitterness. Lukaku is GUARANTEED GOALS. We probably couldn't get a safer bet for a 20+ goals a season striker anywhere. Fitness permitting, we are looking at a player who could well end up quite high on our highest scorers list.

After all my party pooping, I have to admit that Lukaku being Paulo's best friend is endearing, hopefully Memphis joins them in the near future.

I've got a very good feeling this is going to be a fantastic signing for us.

1st touch problems?? Have you seen how many goals he scores with his 1st touch! Nice problem to have if you ask me..

He'll grow and improove with the quality that he'll have around him..

This signing jusy ticks so many boxes.. :)

This time last year when we announced Pogba, Glaston was straight in with the Delle Ali comparisons and it's the exact same thing with Kane v Lukaku.
What a strange man. It's the same poster who told us we can't afford to spend Pogba money every year and now, 12 months later, he's quoting 100m for a transfer and he'll be here again with the doom and gloom when we sign Griezmann next year.

Yes, and the total deal is potentially £90m ... and most add-ons end up being paid.
You don't even know what the add-on clauses are. Why would you assume they will be paid? It could be that he has to win a Balon d'Or as a main clause to trigger most of the add-on price.

It will be interesting to see how much they'll pay him, but I don't think we will subsidise. I think its been made clear to him that his opportunities will be extremely limited next season and with that in mind he had little choice but to move. Despite his performances in the last few years he's still an enormous brand, and spending most of the season on the bench and out of the England team could be quite detrimental to that brand.

@duffer it's done now. So what do Chelsea fans think about missing out on him?

At a guess I'd say they're divided on Lukaku himself but still irked by their approach to transfers generally. Even if they don't rate Lukaku, their club failing to land one its prime targets like that is a definite negative.

GlastonSpur is trying too hard. Is he Woodward's accountant or something?
I don't understand why he cares how much we spend on a player after all I don't and I support Man Utd.

I wouldn't have raised an eyelid if Chelsea had paid the £100m that had been quoted all summer on him. No one seemed to care when Chelsea were supposed to be spending £100m but all of a sudden £90m that's too much.

It's not my money it's not your money It definately isn't @GlastonSpur money so why worry?

Glaston's including of the addons is quite funny considering addons are based on performance.

He doesn't think he's worth the money yet he's accepting he will perform to a standard that will trigger all his addons.

Reportedly the addons are easily achievable so it's not ridiculous to include them.

He thinks Lukaku is shit and also thinks he will perform well enough to get those bonuses. Confused lad.

Fecking hell, some of you guys scared the living daylights out of me last night. Thought Chelsea were going to swooop in and take him, the cnuts. There were even Chelsea fans like ''Orc'' trying to convince themselves he was signing. It's such a good feeling to get one over them. Good times

Because Everton briefed that. Tbh if we briefed the add ons we would say something silly like 1m per Balon D'Or win to keep the reported price lower.
