@duffer it's done now. So what do Chelsea fans think about missing out on him?

I think most are more annoyed at a botched transfer rather than actually missing out on Lukaku.

For me it really depends on who is starting as a striker for us when the season starts. If we end up with Remy then most will be furious.

Kane is better than Lukaku

If Kane was in the market now, he'd probably cost £125m upfront minimum. Maybe more, considering it's Levy.

Is this even a discussion? Shame every thread has to become about GlastonSpur, even when he's right
What is he right about? No one is talking about Kane's supposed fees when he moves. All people are saying is that Lukaku is being transferred for 75 million pounds with "allegedly" another 15 mil in add-ons. No one knows for certain if that's true and no one knows, especially @GlastonSpur , knows how the add-ons are structured. Yet he waltzes in assuming it will be paid and the fee is 90 million pounds. That is what the discussion was about. But I assume you already knew about it and still think Glaston is correct.

I don't understand why he cares how much we spend on a player after all I don't and I support Man Utd.

I wouldn't have raised an eyelid if Chelsea had paid the £100m that had been quoted all summer on him. No one seemed to care when Chelsea were supposed to be spending £100m but all of a sudden £90m that's too much.

It's not my money it's not your money It definately isn't @GlastonSpur money so why worry?

The whole net spend argument is mind boggling.

I struggle to think of anything more irrelvant.

For a £100 million pound deal he's not technically good enough for that sort of money and in theory is like a heskey that scores goals .

I wasn't thrilled when I heard we had signed him but if you look at last seasons problems , it was killing the average teams off and we were drawing to many games against the so called lesser teams .
Lukaku has been labelled as "just scoring against the lesser teams " a tag that I have labelled him myself on here in previous posts.
Maybe , thinking about it he's exactly what we need right now to eradicate last years failings .

His record virtually gaurentees 25 goals a season and his goal scoring record for Everton against the big 6 last season maybe tells a story of tactics more than anything .
Everton surely would sit deeper against the big teams and lukaku would be be more detached , starving him of chances.

I hope he does well and I'm still convinced greizmann will follow once athleticos ban as been lifted .

Spot on.

Anyone who has watched Lukaku carefully will know that he has a tremendous capacity to improve. The kid has a knack for goals and he doesn't miss too many chances. Feed him the ball and he will deliver.

I also think his all round play is under rated here. Minus his first touch, he is technically solid for a number nine - a pure target man. He moves well with the ball at his feet, he is good with his head, his movement is good, his awareness is impressive, he strikes the ball well especially with his left foot and interestingly, he is not bad at dribbling.

For me, what I like most about him is his hunger and ambition. Although that also means he will probably start moaning about heading to Madrid in the next few seasons but while he is at United, he will be desperate to improve his play and deliver the goods.

Are you saying that Rooney never had a good 1st touch?

Rooney had a great first touch, sometimes. Other times it was terrible. I don't think I've seen such an obviously high quality player with such an erratic technical skillset before. When he was off his game even his basics went haywire.

Glaston's including of the addons is quite funny considering addons are based on performance.

He doesn't think he's worth the money yet he's accepting he will perform to a standard that will trigger all his addons.
with add ons. usually half are guaranteed to be paid with the other half almost impossible to reach .

Said a fan whose team has Firminho as a striker.
Nothing to do with it but oh well. Firmino isn't a frustrating player, quite the opposite in fact.

Yes I'm sure Liverpool fans are extremely happy United bought a proven PL goal scorer. You keep banging that drum and Lukaku will keep banging goals.
I didn't say he won't score goals for you. You can check my previous posts about him, don't rate him at all as a top quality striker. Of course it's pure speculation at this point but I think he'll struggle and won't score 20+ goals next season.

This time last year when we announced Pogba, Glaston was straight in with the Delle Ali comparisons and it's the exact same thing with Kane v Lukaku.
What a strange man. It's the same poster who told us we can't afford to spend Pogba money every year and now, 12 months later, he's quoting 100m for a transfer and he'll be here again with the doom and gloom when we sign Griezmann next year.

Chronic insecurity on his part, i think.

Don't get the bitterness. Lukaku is GUARANTEED GOALS. We probably couldn't get a safer bet for a 20+ goals a season striker anywhere. Fitness permitting, we are looking at a player who could well end up quite high on our highest scorers list.
If his level of consistency stays the same, he's a guaranteed 20+ goal a season striker the same way Berbatov was for us, bags 4 in one game but goes on a 3 or 4 game drought every other month.. He's a lot younger than what Berbatov was when he joined us though, so there's a good chance that won't be the case.

We're happy with a frustrating player who scores 25 goals in the league.

Good luck with your Firminho.

I actually had a look at The Shed End, several months back and it seemed the fans there were as divided as we were here on getting Lukaku.
They are talks you're going after Morata, so assuming you pay what Madrid wants (who knows you may get him cheaper), then you might end up with the better forward anyway.

Rooney with all his 1st touch 'problems' is our leading goalscorer EVER...

If Lukaku has the same impact upon our team.. I'm sure we'd all be well pissed!

What ! 75 plus 15 add ons plus Rooney ?? Mmm I make that around 100 million ??
the heskey quote was a bit tongue in cheek I will give you that
Rooney is a separate deal which may have gone through even if we didn't get Lukaku. Would you then say we are paying Everton 10 mil for taking Rooney?

Point is no one would pay Rooney and also then pay a transfer fees of 10 mil. Have the club said anywhere that Rooney is part of the deal or that is 10 mil which is added to this deal? Seems you are assuming a lot of things here including the 15 mil add-ons which isn't definitive nor do we know the clauses to pay them.

It will be interesting to see how much they'll pay him, but I don't think we will subsidise. I think its been made clear to him that his opportunities will be extremely limited next season and with that in mind he had little choice but to move. Despite his performances in the last few years he's still an enormous brand, and spending most of the season on the bench and out of the England team could be quite detrimental to that brand.
I agree mate but where would Everton play him ?
Replacing lukaku with Rooney wouldn't gaurentee them the goals that lukaku gave them .
Seems a move more out of sentiment than football reasons .
It's not as if I'm bothered but find it strange Everton taking him back unless it's just for selling shirts .

How is he like Heskey, except for them both being black strikers?

And again on about how Ali is better.

I've just gone off the sky sports web site mate

I wouldn't blame you.

I dont mind the fee, we can easily afford it as we're a club winning trophies. We also dont have to keep to a tiny budget due to new stadium being built, seeing how we're pretty good without having to build anything new to act like we're a competetive club...

I see, take out the pens. Then switch from starting in 2012-13 (as compared to the original post) to just looking at the last 2 seasons. Then add in assists rather than just goals. And hey presto ....
You do understand Everton is pretty crap side do you?

Try to spell his name right first before you bring up an irrelevant point in a discussion...

Great news, very happy to get Lukaku in :D
I think he will score loads of goals for us during his time here.
Great signing in my opinion

Isn't Chelsea doing almost exactly what they did after winning the title three seasons ago? They handled the transfer and pre season periods terribly. That was part of what set Jose up for a failed season.

Great deviation from the post. I congratulate you.

What discussion ? you coming in saying we'll get frustrated with him ? I can just say it's none of your business really since he's not your player.

Great to see resident Liverpool and spurs fans get into a huff and puff over this.

Apparently he has been arrested in LA, well according to some reports , According to American news outlet TMZ Sports, the striker - who Manchester United have reached a£75million fee to sign from Everton - 'was not brought to the police station or formally booked'. Instead, he was 'merely given a citation'.

So told to stop being a cock and keep it down.

Well we could just not use any arbitrary time frame.

Lukaku 147 in 317 club games.
Kane 115 in 230 club games.

Pretty similar.

How is he like Heskey, except for them both being black strikers?
It was tongue in cheek mate. I work with a few Everton fans and they say he's technically not that good and are happy they have got the money they have got for him.
As I've said previously his goal record is fantastic and going off our last years failings against the so called lesser teams he could be just what we need .
We will soon find out anyway !
If Chelsea maybe sign morata for example , it will be interesting who becomes the better player.

I recon id be disturbing the peace for the next month if i signed a contract with that many zero's on it.

Plenty of Salt all over twitter from rival fans. Marvellous.
You simply can't be critical of a player/new oppo signing anymore without being called bitter or salty. There's lots of people who don't rate Lukaku, even on here, and you just paid €85m for him. But when I simply try to say I don't see him succeed at United I'll be called out on it, rightfully or not since it's a United forum of course. Lukaku is a very, very frustrating player and yes he scores goals but I don't think his style suits a top PL club. Happy to be proven wrong on that.

Same with the Benteke comparisons.

I'm not accusing them of blatant racism, but it's lazy and offensive.

Exactly, it's complete laziness.

I wouldn't call it racism either, but it's like you can only compare black players with other black players, as if they have no similarities to white players because you can't see past their skin colour or they are just 'different' in some way.

Either way, it's mindless.

A total non-story then.
