If his level of consistency stays the same, he's a guaranteed 20+ goal a season striker the same way Berbatov was for us, bags 4 in one game but goes on a 3 or 4 game drought every other month.. He's a lot younger than what Berbatov was when he joined us though, so there's a good chance that won't be the case.

Wasn't he the first Everton player in 50 years to score in 9 consecutive home games?

I think people overestimate the assumption that he goes missing for long spells of games. He was pretty consistent for Everton last year and he'll be playing in a side that creates a lot of chances that have gone begging so in theory, he should do well.

I agree that at 24, he should hopefully kick on. This is his big chance.

Great deviation from the post. I congratulate you.

What discussion ? you coming in saying we'll get frustrated with him ? I can just say it's none of your business really since he's not your player.
Says the guy with 100 posts about Salah

remember Lukaku did score till mid September last seaosn and still got 20 goals. We would give him Mrs chances and therfore more goals

You simply can't be critical of a player/new oppo signing anymore without being called bitter or salty. There's lots of people who don't rate Lukaku, even on here, and you just paid €85m for him. But when I simply try to say I don't see him succeed at United I'll be called out on it, rightfully or not since it's a United forum of course. Lukaku is a very, very frustrating player and yes he scores goals but I don't think his style suits a top PL club. Happy to be proven wrong on that.

No you're not.

So, with this agreement confirmed, who were the undisputed best journalists in reporting the Lukaku to United move?

We may need to start following them closely for the rest of the transfer window period.

Arsenal paid 52m+ for Lacazette. Compared to him Lukaku is easily 75m in the current market. Hell Real wanted 80+ for a rotational player in their team.

Really ? Can't you see I'm Egyptian myself and Salah is important for our national team so I should be more than interested in his moves ?
Err, yes and Lukaku is Belgian and so am I. Does that make me more entitled to post about him? No.

Isn't Chelsea doing almost exactly what they did after winning the title three seasons ago? They handled the transfer and pre season periods terribly. That was part of what set Jose up for a failed season.

It really depends on who we sign. If it's literally only Willy Cabellero then Conte might murder everyone. If we get Rudiger, Bakayoko and Morata (or another big name forward) I think we'll be fine.

Well fine. You can see what you want If you're interested in him for your national team but I'll willing to say you don't really have any striker better than him anyway.

Maybe so. What makes Lukaku better than Lacazette though in your opinion? I rate the latter higher and he actually suits the style of play from the team he went to.

I'll be happy if he goes to Russia '18 with plenty of confidence.
Well according to you he isn't good enough to play for a top side, so why would you even want him in the Belgium squad? Make your mind up.

Apparently he has been arrested in LA, well according to some reports , According to American news outlet TMZ Sports, the striker - who Manchester United have reached a£75million fee to sign from Everton - 'was not brought to the police station or formally booked'. Instead, he was 'merely given a citation'.

So told to stop being a cock and keep it down.

He was so upset at being forced to join Scum United by Raiola instead of his beloved Chelsea that he went and partied the night away with Agent P.

Yeah I think whatever way it landed both teams will be happy. If we didn't get Lukaku it'd prob be Morata. Same for you. That window would be a good window for ye. Not too dissimilar to ours if we pick up a winger and midfielder too.

Nope we haven't (although Firmino suits our style way better than Lukaku would), but even if I supported Oxford United I think I still would be able to call someone not top quality, irrespective of who I support.

He is young, strong, fast, and scored 25 goals a season, so I see no reason we shouldn't be happy about the signing

Only drawback though is that we've overpaid by around 30m in this transfer. With 75m+ I'd expect someone with Suarez quality perhaps. Lukaka is somewhere in between Kane and Benteke (better version of Benteke, but slightly behind Kane IMO)

I don't make our selection and he's clearly Martinez' number one... He wouldn't start for us if it was for me, no.

I won't criticize another club's signing if my own player or the players I target for that position are much worse.

We have missed this in the Number 9 position for a long long time. (Rashford is still developing and Martial is a wide player).

I highly doubt that.

Who would you start? Not trying to pick holes just curious who's been on form for Belgium, or suits your play better.

Lacazette is better for Arsenal than to us. Lukaku is stronger, can play with his back to the goal better and is the better goalscorer out of the two IMO. Large part of Lacazette goals are penos and he has pretty average record in the CL.

I reckon official announcement of the transfer being complete will be tomorrow or Monday when Jose and the PR team are with him.

Was happy as feck we've signed Lukaku! Came on here to have a gander and it appears we've signed a scabby arsed donkey who couldn't hit the side of a house with a cabbage, and will cause the club to implode spectacularly bringing with it the demise of western society, and possibly end the world, forever.
Welcome to the football forums.

I am hoping that the Griezmann transfer might still happen some time.

It probably still could happen given his buyout remain the same. If we play a 2 Forward formation this season, I think it is very likely Jose would consider a 4 striker squad for rotation reasons. Martial, Lukaku, Rashford, Griezmann would be a strong force upfront with Mhki/Mata and Pogba behind them. Especially if we don't buy a winger this window.

Benteke, whose link-up play is way better. Even Batshuayi would be better imo but I know that's just down to personal preference.

Lukaku is awful with his back to the goal, his first touch is horrendous and he's not that good in small spaces which is all what I think is wrong with United signing him. Just my opinion though.

You also have to consider the league lacazette is playing in, a league where a washed up Falcao is scoring loads. So don't know how he can say lukaku is inferior. Lacazette is a massive gamble more so than lukaku.

Good little clip of him talking about his game and his desire to improve.

Sounds like we
Sounds like he has a fantastic attitude and understands his time available as a top level global star is very limited to just a fee years.

He now has found his platform for potential greatness: the right manager, at the right club, at the right time. It's up to him now to secure his name in the same bracket as the legendary strikers he has studied his entire life.

I'm getting more and more convinced that Mourinho and Woodward have bought the perfect striker for the club right now.

He has been announced

It's only announced that a fee has been agreed subject to medical and personal terms.

There will be another announcement of the transfer being complete and it will come with pictures of him wearing the shirt and signing the contract etc

Had no choice really, it was that or go without in this market.

True.

Torino holding out for €100m for Belloti, Real holding out for €90m for Morata, Mbappe quoted at €130m... These new market prices are obscene, but you either pay the going rate or you go without.

In fact, I think Arsenal did well to seal Lacazette for €60m all things considered.

I don't rate Lacazette at all. He has never excited me and tbh I would not be happy if we had signed him.
