Would still make a big offer for him this summer. We can all want Griezmann, just like last summer but it doesn't ever look like happening.

He's scored over 16 goals in each of the past 4 seasons. That's twice more than Rooney in weaker teams by the way. The last 2 Zealand have been 20+. That's more than Rooney has managed in his last 4.

He also plays regularly and can stay fit while having the attributes we lack up front. Simply put.

After last weekend everyone may rue his technique and say he's too top heavy but over the course of a season in England those are the exact qualities you want in your team more often than not.
Why "ever"? Have we even tried? Are there more reports of interest in Lukaku?

There were some reports of Griezmann interest last year Amol. Every team that *could* afford him must have had him on their radar by now at least. But this is a convo for the other thread.

Gone I think it's seven matches without scoring now according to the commentators. They did say he has been dealing with injuries though.
I don't really want Lukaku, for 50 million I'd want one of the best of the best and I don't think he is.

Agreed 100%.
I admire his EPL goal scoring record, but after putting in a MOTM performance (for us), in the FA Cup, I'd rather not pay £50M (or whatever ludicrous fee it is), for a player who is capable of being the worst player on the pitch.
In any case, Jose does not appear to rate him too highly, so he'll probably remain at Everton.

I think it's because he wants a move to United. He knows that if he scores too many goals, the likes of Barca will end up signing him.

I don't think he's suited to the Premier League. I think he'd struggle to score goals in the Prem and don't think his all round game is good enough to negate for that. If you take someone like Bergkamp or Zola, even when they weren't scoring lots of goals, I still thought they were good enough to warrant a place in a top side. I see Griezmann as scoring 10-15 goals as a striker in the Prem, or around 7 if he plays out wide, but in terms of all round play, offering a similar level to Erik Lamela. Basically a pretty good Prem player, but not the star he is in Spain and not worth spending big money on.

Why would he struggle to score goals in the PL?

Similar level to Erik Lamela? The hell are you smoking?

He isn't a wide player and he isn't a striker.

I hope we dont end up buying him. Very Inconsistent. Don't want a striker who goes through multiple goal droughts in a season

His father mentions an 80m euros deal, i'm sorry but he's no where near worth that money. He's a good striker but not a world class player yet to warrant that kind of money.

Never been the hugest fan. He does get goals, which cannot be argued and is obviously the most important thing. That said, he has the footballing ability of a centre half generally speaking, and will ruin many an attack as a result.

His performance in the semi of the cup summed him up, imo. Through on goal a couple of times but let himself down by having the touch of a baby elephant. He will always score goals because he's big and powerful, but he's not worth what its going to cost to get him.

Yeah too much money for a striker whose touch isn't particularly good. Wrong age as well. We need someone around 28.

Here's another article with some more quotes:

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/may/18/romelu-lukaku-father-everton-leave-summer

“Right now, I think the most suitable clubs for him are Bayern Munich or Manchester United,” he said.

“Especially Bayern as the club every year are at least in the semi finals of the Champions League, and the Bundesliga suits him perfectly. I do not think he will go to Italy because the game is far too closed at the back. What is certain is that to continue to progress, he needs to change club, he must make the right choice.”

I love how he says Bayern would be best suited for him.

Would they pay 65m quid for a third-choice striker?

As far him coming to United is concerned - no me gusta.

Pretty sure those comments are a few months old and back then his father added that he'd only consider a move to Bayern if Lewandowski left the club so that Lukaku can be the first choice striker. I highly doubt we're interested in him, he's kinda similar (but in my opinion worse) than Gomez was when we signed him and Gomez was never a great fit in the team.

I don't think he's the player to turn us around, his inconsistency would drive us mad, Liverpool overpaid for benteke at 32 million if we pay double that for this guy its a bit damning. It is easy to say we should be going for the big players and harder to get them but in reality if we don't we will stay in this slump, we should be aiming for greizemann, dybala, aubemayang, elite players.

Maybe he's just at that stage of his career and the consistency will come now. Andy Cole was similar until his mid 20s.

He is far superior to a Benteke. Even though he was terrible against us in the FA cup game, I rate him and think he will score 20+ goals in a team that is set up for him.

My key issue is not to interrupt Martial and Ashford's development. If we sign, Ibra, we may not need Lukaku is a season where we don't have PL football. Likewise, signing absolute elite forwards may not prove easy.

In 2 years Rashford will be better, if we show patience and just get Ibra in on a free for a couple of seasons we'll be much better off than paying a ridiculous fee for Lukaku.

Come on mate, we're not that bad :D

The market for him just might not be there at the moment. Even if Bayern sold Lewa, I don't think they'll be as keen as Lukaku senior thinks. United, with our history of paying through the nose, seem most likely and even I don't see us pulling the trigger with the development of Martial as a match winner.

He is definitive moving this summer. I think PSG, Chelsea, Juventus or Atletico could be his next destination. However, he also looks like Mourinho's type of striker. He is a bit inconsistent, but overall he scores around 20 goals per season.

If he wants to go, they are going to struggle to hold on to him after this season. I don't think he's ever looked at them as more than a stepping stone.

If he moves within the league, I think the fee is going to surprise a lot of us. The EPL is flush with cash and strikers command a prime fee. Behold, inflation!

I don't think he will leave. He doesn't have many clubs to goto and he is very costly. Only united and psg would even think of buying him and even they wouldn't buy him for €80m (unless it's in a similar deal like Sanches and martial).

Romelu Lukaku confirms he wants to leave Everton

http://www.skysports.com/football/n...elu-lukaku-confirms-he-wants-to-leave-everton

"I'm at a point where I have to make a good career choice," Lukaku is quoted as saying in the Daily Star.

"We have a new investor at Everton and out of courtesy I will listen to what he has to say. But I have my own ideas in mind. I want to win titles.

"I have had a very good season, but it is time for me to write myself a CV. That is why I play football. I got that trophy-winning mindset from Chelsea.

"People in Belgium don't see me playing for Everton, but I am respected by fans, managers and experts like Jamie Carragher, Graeme Souness and Thierry Henry."

Thankfully since Mourinho sold him once already I doubt he'd buy him for us! Must be something about him he didn't like

To think they thought they had a shout at Mourinho...

Lukaku wanted to leave Chelsea though, that's why Mourinho sold him. Maybe he didn't offer him enough first team football but by all accounts there was no falling out or anything and Lukaku certainly wasn't forced out of the club.

He does fit the prototype for what Mourinho looks for in a centre-forward, so it's always a possibility. That said, I think for the money Everton will want he might look elsewhere, namely Ibra.

He's a good player, but his options are limited. Everton paid a lot for money for him and they don't need to sell, they are probably looking for 60m at least.

Only a few clubs can pay that kind of money in the first place and even fewer will be interested. Chelsea if Costa leaves and possibly PSG to replace Zlatan and that's about it. We don't need him, his technique is not good enough for Guardiola's system and he's not flashy enough for Madrid to splash so much money on him.

True enough, I just think he's a level below what we need, so I hope we don't go for him. Also, free VS £50m, I know which I'd pick :)
