Romelu Lukaku | Napoli watch

I’m glad he’s gone.

Definitely not a bad player. But absolutely not a Manchester United player. We felt more fluid and free flowing without him.

We paid €85m for him in 2017 which is enough to label him as the worst club signing. It was idiotic enough from Mourinho & the club and I heard we got €65m + €13m in bonuses. I hardly call this "recouping our money".

We should've never signed this donkey and used Martial or Rashford as our main ST. But Mourinho wanted a big lump that suited to his shit on a stick brand of football so was happy to pay that stupid amount on his beloved flat-track bully. Bloody awful first touch, abysmal against any decent oppositon, missed easy chances but on the contrary an unwarranted inflated opinion of himself. David Moyes of strikers.

Like the dithering Dave, should've never been a part of our history. Was never a Man United striker in a million years and considering the money it was an absolutely awful signing.
We signed him for £75 million. We sold him for £74 million. He isn't even the worst signing in our current squad. Bailly has been a much worse signing.

I realise football fans these days have short memories but can you recall the days gone by of one Di Maria?

Worst signing of all time, FFS.

Such a frustrating player to watch but a likable guy. Part of me is glad he's gone even without buying any cover. Don't know how much longer I could have taken watching him fumble over a ball or take a shot 2 meters wide.

Wish him all the best and hope he does well at Inter
What about him was likeable? His frequent Twitter rants, him talking to the media about his Conte man crush? Him refusing to return to United and training with Anderlecht?

feck him. the fanbase was loyal to him and he does thus. good riddance.

I dont get the hate and never thought he was that bad. I think he will do well at Inter, do they have any descent crossers?
He showed up to training weighing 100kg (220 lbs). Overweight. Fat. Then he went AWOL.

If he loses weight and gets back to the shape he was before his move to us, he can be a world beater. If he remains unprofessional and narcissistic prick he won't.

That's beltin....sums his time up here

When did this happen? any links? first Ive heard of it.

As for his going AWOL, did you miss the whole story where he peaced out and trained at Anderlicht to push his move?

Also, please tell me you noticed how feckin fat he got last season right? You could see it in his face and ever heavy, fat touch of his on the field.

Yeah I noticed he got fat but he said he wanted to get thin again, something about Jose wanting him to bulk up? I though we exiled him to Anderlecht

What a ridiculous comment. He wasn't the greatest, but to say he was the worst? Come on...
For the price we paid absolutely. Would be a completely different story if we paid 30mil. When you pay so much for a player you expect QUALITY not MEDIOCRITY

So it was neither Jose nor United. It was related to the World Cup and being more impactful. I'm not sure if it was his own trainer, his national team or just a case of the current proteinoholic trend.

As for Anderlicht, it was a day off from training and all reports say he went there on his own without informing the club.

This is all of course on top of agreeing to join/,chatting up Conte and his crew BEFORE our season was even over.

Solkjaer isn't pulling the strings.
He's having his strings pulled, which makes it even worse. He is not a victim here, don't you dare play that card. If he truly cared, he'd walk away and put the Glazers on blast. But he won't. He's getting paid millions to pay lip service. He'd be cementing his legacy with the fans if he did walk and did call out the board. But he thinks he's taking some moral highground by saying "I won't hold grudges" but he's not. Why exactly is Winston Churchill revered and Neville Chamberlain reviled in this nation? Easy- 1 sought appeasement, the other sought confrontation despite it being unpopular at the time.

Ole is a man who doesn't even have it in him to park in the Manager's spot at the training ground. Jose and LVG were right about the club. They should be lionised, not this glorified substitute. Ask yourself this, would Liverpool have ever appointed David Fairclough as Manager? Because that is what we have done.

He wont walk from his dream job, he does care for the club and is liked by many fans. He's copying SAF in the way that he keeps club issues away from the media. We'll see what happens if/when Woodward throws him under a bus.

What a ridiculous comment. He wasn't the greatest, but to say he was the worst? Come on...

Off the top of my head he was definitely worse than:

RVP, Rooney, Chicharito, Tevez, Berba, Ruud, Saha, Cole, Yorke, Teddy and Ole himself.

The only CF’s he can claim to be better than were Welbeck and Falcao. I’m a bit torn on Ibra as he was disgustingly profligate, but it’s hard to say that our attack didn’t look much more fluent with him in it.

Is being better than Welbeck and a one legged Falcao the standard on which we judge players?

Should have taken a profit regardless of him being shite. Fecking Inter.

And the thing is Welbeck isn’t even a striker as such as he plays on the wing a lot of the time.

Are Inter mental? 70 million for a failed Top6 PL CF?
Conte is Mourinho's Italian brother and They both love Lukaku type of strikers.

I bet He convinced the board if Lukaku is the second coming of Zlatan.

Yeah Lukaku was an awful player and I am so glad that he’s gone. Him being sold feels like a successful transfer in for me. I really hated watching him bumble around the pitch with the worst technique I’ve ever seen in a striker wearing our jersey at this level.

70m pounds....

But he's not SAF and never will be. Why is the solution "wait and see"? Woodward has already thrown him under a bus and his reaction is underwhelming if I'm being kind.
Where is the DOF?
Where is the accountability?
How is is that Juventus were able to win the Scudetto within 6 years of Calciopoli yet we've done the literal opposite? (We were Champions when SAF stepped down, had won 5 out of 7 titles and missed out on the other 2 by an aggregate of 1 point (Chelsea 2010) and Goal Difference (2012).
I remember the summers of 2001 and 2007 in particular. Why? Because we behaved as a big club should in those years. Ever since 2007 (which the Glazers probably had little to do with as it had probably been budgeted from before they took over), we've acted like beggars while crowing about being the richest people in town.Yet the fans take it, make excuses for inaction and side with the leeches.
Juventus signed Ronaldo last summer, along with Can (free), Douglas Costa (£30m ish) Joao Cancelo (£35m ish). They won an 8th straight Scudetto this season and have still proceeded to:
1. Buy 2 midfielders (both young/coming into their prime)
2. 2 CBs (Demiral & De Ligt)
3. 2 Full Backs (Danilo & Pellegrini)
4. 1 reserve Keeper (Buffon)

That is 7 players, of which at least 4 are starters, 2 knocking on the door and 1 club legend. This is along with a new Manager. What is our excuse?

He'll do what he always does...score in bunches against inferior competition and then disappear in big matches. He'll still bag 20-25 goals and people will call him a top striker, while ignoring his inability to accomplish basic traps, passes, and his terrible aerial & hold up play.

I mean, before this transfer window I didn't really have anything against Lukaku, he is what he is. And that's not an £75m footballer. But hey, his last 2 transfers say otherwise.

Grow up, you bloody loon.

Conflating the events preceding World War II to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer managing Manchester United.

Good luck getting out of the newbies with dim-witted dogshit like this.

As for the topic on hand, few recent social media trends in football are as pathetic and small-time as Lukaku’s newest hashtag.

We are better off without wasters like him, replacement or no replacement.

70m not bad.

I pity how @GifLord had to make these as well

How the feck did Juve offer us Dybala for this man? How the feck did Inter pay 70m for this bloke?

Imagine paying 70+ million for that... :wenger:

Imagine selling that for 70+ plus million

It’s like a dumb Eskimo selling snow to an even dumber Eskimo.

We did very well to get 74 million pounds for Lukaku. As per Di Marzio bonuses are easily achievable.

Are Inter mental? 70 million for a failed Top6 PL CF?

A better international central forward available (at the same age) on the market for a lesser sum than Lukaku?? Please give the name.

His time here was a non-event for me. Completely meh, scored some goals but few against teams with a pulse and had a terrible playing style to boot.

I've forgotten him already.

I always felt watching Rom that he's totally limited as a footballer, he looked great at Everton, (when they weren't that great).
A bit like when you have half decent looking players at 'less able' clubs.

He appeared to come in with the attitude of a tryer, all about the club, but even when he scored a half decent amount in his first season, he looked a bit of a clown.
I think he got found out once Mou left, as he had to get around the pitch more due to the way Ole wanted to play.

I've no doubt in Serie A he'll probably do reasonably well as the standard isn't as high, but my god, i'm glad he's gone, he was a total passenger in some of the games last year.
