Romelu Lukaku | Napoli watch

Lukaku was signed by a better manager than ours, a Premier league winning manager, for a team playing in the Champions League. He is FAR from deadwood.

Where did I say he was deadwood? He wasn't first choice player and he wanted to leave and left.

Yeah but that wasn't your point. Your point was "You can say our formation or style of play doesn't suit him but a good manager can work with what he has and find a suitable system that could utilize him."

Almost every manager will try to change the team to play the players he thinks are better suited. If we are talking about Messi, Ronaldo type players, then yeah, Manager should adapt not for players like Lukaku.

I don't know what fantasy Ole has for this team but Lukaku showed he could contribute even under Ole.

Ok but the comparison to players like Hart and Benteke doesn’t work. A top manager for a team playing in the CL is never spending big amounts on Hart, Benteke or Moreno.

And Lukaku also showed he won't be staying when he is guaranteed starter. He talked about Serie A move at the start of last season, his agent talked about it during the season and Lukaku again talked about it after the season. Funny how he always gets the pass for all the nonsense he spoke.

Why doesn't it work? Players were not suited to how manager wanted to play and they were moved on. Additional bonus is, Lukaku acted like a twat in interviews and wanted out.

You want to turn this into another conversation. If Ole makes Lukaku feel wanted he stays. Ole was happy for Lukaku to move and there’s deluded fans that have decided the striker was deadwood.

So he lost 10 pounds in 12 days at Inter after their nutritionist spotted an issue with his digestive system. He now feels much fitter.

Why the feck did our nutritionists sort that out? fecking joke.

fecking hell, at least know the timelines. Lukaku said in interview when Jose was the manager and CL draw was made.

Then there are deluded fan boys like you, who thinks Lukaku is some Messi lite player. He is average to good player, who averages 15 league goals a season, which isn't good enough for a limited player. He isn't deadwood though, at least was useful.

When you make up stuff like me claiming he is Messi Lite I know it’s time to stop the conversation.

No time is good time when you don't even know/remember half of the things and keep ignoring when pointed out.

Your posts on Lukaku and Martial says it all.

Conte sent him to a nutritionist for a consultation so detailed that it included a study of the decomposition of his body waste
I didn't expect this kind of extreme stuff on RedCafe.

That people can describe Lukaku as "deadwood" is hilarious to me.

Lukaku became a scapegoat and the manager did nothing to protect him. What annoys me with the Lukaku situation is people acting Martial/Rashford are Del Piero with their playmaking and the team plays great football with them and Lukaku ruined every attack. Give any manager a choice between those 3 and almost every manager will choose the proven goalscorer. Ole is a poor manager. But it doesnt matter if Lukaku scores 50 goals, people will say its a poor league and ptetend his last season was his normal standard.

What should manager do to protect him? Good that you have listened to Lukaku's interview and repeating the same thing. When player himself wanted out, him and his agent kept saying that in media, what can club or manager do?

Ole protected Lukaku when he was acting like a twat with "injury" in preseason. Not a single bad word was said about the player.

Last season was not his normal standard but it wasn't far from his normal standard. It's like player they have built up in their imagination is so different from the reality.

So he posted shirtless pictures of himself to prove he wasn’t fat, but has now admitted he was overweight. Interesting tactic.

But it’s United’s fitness team’s fault because they monitor what a player does 24/7 and spoon feed them so that’s what we’re discussing now and people are obviously annoyed at Woodward.

He is a world class bullshitter.

In the Premier League:

- Didier Drogba: Games played 254, Goals scored: 104
- Romelu Lukaku: Games played 252, Goals scored: 113

For any English club, all competitions:

- Didier Drogba: Games played 381, Goals scored: 164
- Romelu Lukaku: Games played 315, Goals scored: 146

I think it's clear what these stats mean.

What do they mean then ?

- Berbatov: Games played 229, Goals scored: 94
- Beattie: Games played 331, Goals scored: 91
- Kevin Phillips: Games played 263, Goals scored: 92
- Bergkamp: Games played 315, Goals scored: 87

Drogba is overrated but he was more than just goal scorer.

I've said this for over year, our club, from top to be bottom is under performing.
Even our own fans knew that he was over-weight and that carrying so much weight was hampering him.
The sports scientists working for MUFC, completely missed this.
Had he lost weight last season, he'd have been a much better player and maybe would still be at the club.

We all talk about how bad Woodard, the players and even the manager are, but the coaches and backroom staff in general seem to get a free ride. Make no mistake, our backroom staff are equally as culpable for our fall from being almost guaranteed league winners, to top 6 hopefuls.

I think you are being sarcastic. If so, here's my reply: it is the responsibility of not only the employee, but also the employer to ensure that the employee is fit for duty. As this is sport, one of the key objectives for the player is to remain fit, healthy and of a certain body weight. The employer must guide/advise that player how to achieve those objectives.

It is funny how he moves to Inter, where they obviously spoke to him about his weight issues and he loses weight and once again looks like a footballer, rather than a heavy-weight wrestler. The state of him at MUFC was embarrassing. He himself will admit that he should never have been allowed (by himself, or by the club), to get so fat.

Drogba is the kind of forward who could be awarded Man of The Match despite not having scored

Goes to Italy and looses 12 pounds in 10 days because an Italian nutritionist recognised that his digestive system was not working properly.

Why do we never catch such things at our club ?

Actually, probably best not be answered.....
It is nice to see that you lap it up.

Everyone knew he was overweight. They seemingly couldn't figure out why though and assumed it was down to motivation. I still partly subscribe to this view to be honest. Lukaku strikes me as someone who loves to make excuses for himself.

That said it's pretty irritating that inter have better nutritionalists. Shouldnt happen.

It’s just spin from Inter and Lukuku. Lukuku is trying to absolve himself of any blame. It’s completely down to a lack of motivation, the lard arse couldn’t be bothered, that was clear as day. However, he can’t take the criticism, so trying to put this spin on it - I don’t believe a word of it.

Doesn’t matter what nutritionists you have - you can’t stop a fat lad eating chips as soon as he gets home.

Right

You seem to have tendency to overestimate your own opinion but in this case I think you've just blindly swallowed what Lukaku have said.

It all depends on his inter tenure. If he can show the talk and walk the talk then it wont look good on us no matter how we try to spin it.

If he doesnt work at inter then yes. Good riddance.

Lukaku alone could be anything but when many of our deadwoods starts performing better than their time with us then question should be asked on what we did wrong with the.

Lukaku isnt a deadwood. 5 years at epl scoring heaps of goals isnt a sign of deadwood. You can say our formation or style of play doesn't suit him but a good manager can work with what he has and find a suitable system that could utilize him.

And he looks motivated, something our deadwoods seems to be missing is motivation. I dont believe rojo et al could contribute as rational back up players at least.

I absolutely agree with this, he is a living tree.

Rated the worst Inter player from Gazzetta

"It's not a good evening for the Belgian, boxed in by the Udinese central defenders, without ever being able to find space for the right play or the one-two. Conte had enough of him and replaced him in the second half."
Trying to play a one-two with Lukaku is like trying to play a one-two with the edge of a brick wall, so I'm not surprised none came off.

He played at a similar level to his previous games for Inter. This performance just lacked a goal.
