Lukaku was just one of these players who plays well in a certain system - in my opinion where they play in behind or over the top from a deep position for him to run onto. Ask him for any hold up play, neat passing triangles, give and go’s with the other forwards and he couldn't do it. The ball bounces off him, even Everton fans lamented that years before we signed him. Dont think he has much of an intelligent football brain on him to be honest. A good player overall but not what we needed. Its not uncommon for big money transfers to not work out. At least we got, give or take, what we paid for him.
All the media interviews etc are just him arse covering that he didn't fit in and wasn't good enough to lead the line for us, and knew he was going to be a bench striker so left for another league.
Theres lots of previous people from the club who like to chat shit, just like him. look at LVG, who spent 3 or 4 hundred million quid on mainly bang average/shit/random/over the hill players, then gives interviews saying stuff like he ‘didn't realise Man Utd couldn't sign ‘any player they wanted’. That was his reason for failure. He couldnt sign a load of galaticos. Its Not that he played antique football, sold all the wingers and strikers, and told the club to abandon a deal for Kroos to sign Schweinsteiger.
Dont know why people listen to this stuff. You fire managers. If players are shit, you cant fire them, you sell them, exceptions being if its a big club coming for a small clubs player, or a real madrid in for Ronaldo situation. I think I know where Lukaku fits into that
