No doubt - we should sell Lukaku and try to find a top world class striker.

I don't have a clear suggestion of who we should replace him with, but I'm just hoping we can find "a diamond" like we once found young Ronaldo, like Liverpool found Salah, like Barcelona found Messi, ... one of these one-in-a-decade talents that developes rapidly to be become one of the very top world-class strikers...

There was a play when Pogba got the ball on the right, holding the ball, and looking for player. Guess where Lukaku was? He hid behind on the opposite side or far post, raising his hand and hoping Pogba could make a pass over those defenders and gk, and miraculously got to his head for a tap in.
I thought, wow.. was he really a United striker?
This frustrated me so much. At times it seemed like he was just waiting for a miracle ball to drop to him.

I don't get it with Lukaku at the moment. I honestly think he's a better player than what he's currently showing (we saw that at the World Cup), but he seems extremely lethargic and unwilling to make the kind of penetrating runs that make him so dangerous.

And yet, when he picks up the ball in the channels or near the touchline and gets to run at players, he suddenly comes to life. Makes me wonder whether RW is really just his best position after all.

Great play for the penalty. Shite apart from that, and that was the first decent thing he's done in ages.

He ran and played in Mata for the penalty. Give up wanking its making you blind

I will have to rewatch this, but at the moment I felt that it was a horrible pass that fecked up the attack — Mata had no possibility to take a shot (or even to control it properly).

...and play Rashford at RW/LW again? Wow! No fecking way! The lad is on fire and all of us want to know how good he can be for us.

His name is Jadon.

Even pre game I noticed his warm ups, while others were doing it properly he was just putting in half the effort.

Pogba was stretching his leg up towards his chest height, Lukaku wasn’t even stretching his leg higher than his waist. I really can’t stand the guys laziness he’s just a hinderance rather than an asset and he needs to be sold as soon as possible.

Thing is we don’t need to buy an expensive striker as we have rashford for that position we only need a Hernandez or ironically a solskjaer type that’s good off the bench as back up. Get rid and invest the money elsewhere.

He's "unlucky" with the emerging of Rashford. Now United fans can have a reference of how a mobile and skillful striker could make a difference to the play.

His attitude stinks. His reaction to Pogba's goal, its like he feels he has some divine right to a walk in, probably remembered it was on sky by the time he decided to stop showing his petulance and pretend to celebrate the goal.

People defending him today remind me so much of the people that defended Mourinho. Just call a spade a spade, he's absolutely the worst striker i have seen in my time watching Utd. Cant control, cant pass, cant really head, not much energy and to top it off he isn't even that prolific. Defending players that are simply not good enough causes massive damage to the club in the long run, its much better to be open and honest and get rid of players that are so clearly out of depth in a Utd shirt. For those of you praising the 3rd goal, he's accidentally stumbled through a challenge, run in a straight line and then played a terrible pass behind Mata who has enough genuine ability to make something out of it.
Mitrovic caused us more trouble than him to Fulham defense , says a lot. Swap them and we might even score more today. And yes i think teammates were hesitant to get him involved in our build up play. Should sell him and get an experienced back up striker that won't mind sitting on the bench and offer different threat than Rashford.

His refusal to press will seal his fate I think. There's nowhere
.
Someone with poor technical ability and not involved much in build up play should at least be a hardworker like Hernandez.

The defending of Lukaku reminds me when I was in the Rooney performance threads under LVG :smirk:.

Not that it's a fair comparison because that Rooney was still twice the player Lukaku is this season.

Lukaku doesnt fit in Ole's style of playing.
Sell him and Mata around 70-80milions and buy 2 players in attack (rw and lw/st).

Are we going to look back at Lukaku as a player who peaked early? He has been playing first team football since he was 16/17, and counting internationals he is not far off 500 career games. No matter what club he is at moving forward the weight will have to come off, just exacerbates his technical limitations, and without the stamina to press from the front or to have the movement off the ball to stretch defenses he looks very limited.

I'm by no means saying Kane is some second rate striker - but I do think that Kane in this current spurs side would score more than Kane in this current United side.

Lucas, Lamela, Son, Aldeweireld, Trippier, Eriksen, Dembele, Rose and so many more are players that create for their central striker.

Shaw, Smalling, Dalot, young, Matic, Herrera, Martial, Rashford, Lingard in comparison do not hold up a strong fight in comparison.

Kane would do fine here again due to his individual abilities & this is why I said Rashford, Martial are thriving here on their individual abilities too - something Lukaku can't do.

Kane would be great but with 10-20% less chances created for him. What he does on his own would continue.
Since Ole has taken charge I saw a stat that said we had the most chances created as well as attempts so I do not know what you are on about frankly. Lukaku is merely a bit of a tap in guy. Unless his feet are planted and he has an unimpeded route to goal he isn't scoring.

Think today broke me a bit regarding him. Ironically thought he got too much abuse last season when he was one of our better players but this season he's absolutely pants.

If we could somehow sell him for a large fee and use some of the funds to buy Dybala, that would be the dream.

Pogba and Dybala again

Can't stand this fat oaf. I will never go easy on a player who looks like he couldn't give a shit. I will support a player lacking form, talent, mentality. But never an unprofessional sloth.

He needs to go. The fact that we ask ‘who would we sell him to?’ tells it’s own story. His only suitors will not be able to pay what he wants because the only clubs who can pay what he wants wouldn’t go near him. But he’s good enough for us apparently?

Fulham are the worst team we’ve faced this season. Yet he didn’t even look close to scoring today. No shot in goal, and that isn’t uncommon for him. His limited ability and effort will mean he will always have few efforts on goal. As was previously mentioned, Mitrovic caused us more problems than he caused them. We controlled the game, Yetz Mitrovic had more efforts at goal.

Maybe Chelsea may still want him in the summer if we’re lucky. If not, take a hit and ship him off for a more suitable back up forward. I’d love to bring Josh King back home. He’s far more suited for the role Lukaku now occupies. He can play across the front 3 positions and wouldn’t cost much either.

If we can get a club stupid enough to pay £45-50m we should sell. It just won't work for the guy.

He was quite good during the first half of last season. Even during the start of that goalless period he had, his all-round game was quite good and he was looking like one of our best and most dangerous players while everyone else was struggling.

The second half of last season was when he started looking poor most of the time, and that has continued into this season where he seriously has a strong claim on being the worst regular starter in the entire league.

I've defended Lukaku a lot but he was poor today and I think he has given up somewhat. Starting to think he's a player that has to be the main man but he won't get that at United with Rashford about.

There was a pass Dalot played around the corner into he feet where he was caught on his heels and the defender just stepped in to take the ball. He's stopped showing for easy passes.

Why he looked so not interested ? He should grab his chances when he starts! Really weird attitude.

Couldn't even trouble the worst defence in the league, his cheerleaders still everwhere though. No place in our team.

Just say it bruh, you really he fake his birthdate no ;) ?

In a game we fully dominated and won easily 0-3 but yet he was invisible for most of the game. Is this enough for people to understand the lack of service excuse is rubbish ?

This is what gets my goat. You know Rashford defends from the front & tries to force an error from the opposition. Watching Lukaku gently jog towards the defender with the ball basically inviting the defender to pick his pass forward is just so lazy.

On another thread someone praised the 10 headers he won during the game, but of those 10 I doubt any found a Utd player either deliberately with skill or a fluke. As I recall none were to our advantage.

His ego wont allow him being a bench option as somewhere in his own brain he probably still thinks he's a better player than Rashford

No. We watched Rooney start at a similar age, be more physically developed than the usual 16/17 yo and start to decline just after his mid 20's. Don't recall anyone talking about him faking his age.

500 career games take a toll, being excessively heavy does not help.

Add in the likes of Fowler, Owen and Raul as other examples of strikers peaking early.

There was an incident yesterday in the 71st minute where the ball was hoofed up to him. He let it bounce about 3 meters in front of him and then did a little jump to try to connect with the ball as it rose up and over him but still somehow he still lost out to the defender who was standing behind him (and who was about half his size in all directions). As an isolated incident, it wouldn't be much to remark on but the fact that game after game, he does this sort of thing and demonstrates a complete inability to trap/lay off the ball is pretty unbelievable for a professional footballer at any level.

Wtf is actually trying to do there ? He has to lift his leg up a little if he wants to have a chance to control this.

It's like he expects his teammates to pass the ball so perfectly as to hit his foot perfectly and control itself.

It really does seem like he's got to put more effort in. I don't know where that's coming from because early on I thought he was a grafter

I'd love a gif of that. I was genuinely shaking my head in hysterics. It's like a tellytubby with no coordination chasing the ball.
