Very poor in first half.

Immense in the second one. He looks x10 more comfortable coming from the right flank. He's better there than even our supposed right wingers.

Good things happen when he drifts from the right. Should maybe do it more.

Glad he scored.

Very good when he start moving to the right. (Edit: as @el3mel said). Seems like all our strikers doesn't enjoy being a Center Forward. It's time to get Messi for that False 9 position.

Thank God he scored. Just needed to score, to receive the pressure valve that was getting to bursting point.

Now he has some serious competition, as well as possibilities to be rested, can see him going on another goal every game run.

Thought he played very well

Clear peno in first half
Great work and cross for the third goal
Thunderbolt for the 4th

Very nicely done

What an awful 1st touch for the goal. Almost accidental.

He played on the wing today and he was so good. :D

Wonder if he may be worth giving a try wide right? Obviously not in the traditional winger role, but he definitely looked comfortable coming in from there. Wonder if Jose may give it a try

Awesome goal, just what he needed. Having Rashford and Martial around him helped his game I feel, they work well off him and they allow him to get wide.

Anyone think it was a bit of a weird finish? He gave the keeper a pretty large chance at saving that, was centimetres away from his body when he could have easily stuck it further to his right without having to blast it as it could easily have cannoned off the keeper.

Other than that he played really well so no idea what game some people were watching.

Yes, typical "striker in a rut" finish. Thankfully he hit the back of the net, and I'm sure that's going to do a world of wonders for his confidence!

Lukaku didnt get the memo that he's a poacher, a player with no technical qualities. He just as effective on the right cutting inside as he is in the middle.

Keeper had no chance with the level of power and dummy before.

Don’t really agree I’m afraid. All the keeper had to do was move slightly to his left and that cannons off of him he didn’t have to do much to do that. Just think in terms of finishing there were better options there for Lukaku. As @Jed I. Knight said typical drought finish. Although he did score 3 in midweek was it.

It would have cannoned off him into the net. It was one powerful strike and would have sent him through the Stretford End.

:lol: Yeah there was certainly a chance Elliot would be in hospital with a cannon ball injury but I was just meaning that he took a very risky option to score when half power, further to his right and it rolls in with dead certainty.

It was emphatic wasn't it? Think he was sending a message out.

I think it was a great finish. The dummy made Elito move his body to the right so a powerful shot to the left was unstoppable. Unless Elito can undo the laws of physics and move against the momentum of his body.

One thing I feel always works against him is that whatever he does he looks awkward even if it’s effective. Some other strikers look more elegant tripping over their own feet than Lukaku looks while scoring a thumping goal at the near post.

I wonder if Jose might give Zlatan a go up front, with Lukaku down the right at times, we've got obvious problems on that side, and Lukaku looked a lot more comfortable running onto balls from the right, where he isnt expected to play with his back to goal and hold it up. Could be the solution to our right wing, in which case we can bring in yet another striker (Kane:drool:).

remember when Martinez played him there against Arsenal in 2014? They beat Arsenal and Rom was superb on the wing. Moyes was sacked few weeks later

Good performance, he looked re-energized and ran the channels well all game and got a deserved goal.
