How are Citehs FFP calculations going? Doing a lot of maths there? Crossing out some expenses yeah? Selling some players to make rooms for new ones? No? Ah Im sure they know what they are doing.

I would be a liar if I said that I have any idea of what City's plans are regarding FFP and finances in general.
From reading foums and the like, the consensus is that we are trying to work towards ffp.
My own personal opinion is that there are not that many available players who could improve us so that is why we are quiet in the transfer market.
I think our pursuit of Hazard shown that we are still in the market for quality players and will pair and fair price. I don't think our owners want to be taken for a ride anymore though.

Well according to the media we offered 27m for a player whose club had refused a 40m bid from Chelsea. I hope that I am wrong on this but we've seem multiple times how this story ends don't we?

Who rejected a £40m bid for whom? Hope you're not talking about Lucas, otherwise you're talking bollocks. Chelsea never had a £40m bid turned down.

No one bid 40m for Modric either.
It all came from a daily mail story. Harry was doing his usual 'I dont know, levy does the business' act when he said the bit about levy supposedly rejecting a 40m bid according to the papers...

We have three strikers though, all of whom will need game time and also Kagawa who plays behind a striker in a 4231 mainly and that means less time for one of the strikers too. Van Persie is top quality though and the kind of player for whom you might adjust your formation. I guess Kagawa or Rooney would be used wide from time to time, Welbeck would go to the bench but still play 20-30 games a season. For Hernandez this might be the end of the road though unless we decide to use him as a super-sub in which case he won't start more than 15-20 games a season but get plenty of time from the bench.

I'd pass Van Persie though. £15m+ fee plus £150k a week over a 4-year contract would take us close to a £50m outlay we don't really need.

I'd prefer Lucas, I don't particularily want Van Persie, or Baines, but if they join, I'll support them.

No chance. Nothing will happen now til Wenger comes back from the Far East around 1st August.

Why? RVP has held talks with Wenger, there is nothing more to discuss between them. I'm sure Wenger can use a phone, so if an offer that comes in, then I’m sure he'll know about it and give either a yay, or nay. But let's not forget, RVP is in the last year of his contract, they wouldn't want him to walk on a free next year, so the board may just take this out of Wenger's hands.

Unless v.Persie does a U-turn like Rooney did last year, the player will and can do what he wants and there is nothing Wenger can do about it whether he's in Asia or sitting somewhere in London.

If the best offer is £12M we may as well keep him.

Yeah tbh unless he starts saying something like he won't play properly etc which tbf at 29 I don't think he can afford to do, then at 12mil you may as well keep him as he could be the difference between CL football or not again.

Hence the reason Arsenal released the information of bids, they want to see if they can push the price up between the sides

I'm sure they'll get more than offered currently, but not the figure they seem to want

£25M fee and £11M a year for a c£60M spend? Doesn't sound like great business when the fee is gone next year.

No point in keeping a player that does not want to be there, that will not happen. He is in the last year of his contract, you will get shafted on his real value, he will be sold for max £15m, most likely around £12m plus add ons depending on success, that's just the way it is. Frustrating time to be an arsenal fan the way things are being run there.

I just got well over excited then for a second. Read the home page, saw the 'Robin van Persie' thread and my mind combined the titles of the Nick Powell thread and this one and I thought it said, 'Robin van Persie - Signed!' and nearly had an orgasm.

Keep your captain who doesnt want to be there. That'll work

Theres no chance Song will join him in leaving next summer. No chance at all.

The future will be for players to see out their contracts and then be up for a wage auction, this is just an early example. Turning down £12M, given that we save £7M in wages and a sign-on fee, it effectively costs us just £5M to keep him for a year.

It seems clear Arsenal have no intention of keeping him if he is not being brought on tour.

the problem arsenal have is that they need to sell soon to have time to replace him/spend in other areas

the other problem is that the bidding has started in a low position hence arsenal making it public

i think he'll go for about 15/16 million

I'd take him for that price provided we get welbeck tied up

How do you figure that out? You're passing up a £12m fee and paying him.

Also costs your squad thinking your club are a joke, with a captain who doesnt want to be there and doesnt think you can win anything.

There will never be an end to your selling club status if you carry on like that.

A sensible team would take the money, give the captains armband to someone who is comitted to staying for a couple of years and invest in the right sort of players to win a cup.

Instead you'll have a captain who wont give a feck for half the season and then instead of concentrating on winning something for Arsenal, will spend Jan onwards talking to clubs about his wages when he moves on a free.

Same schtick as Rooney then? He was shut by being paid up, RvP will be shut up by being held to his contract.
