I looked away, and when I looked back I thought Reina saved it. Hopefully that will be the first of many penalties scored and no more pissing around with them.

Wouldn't mind a gif of that flick he done in the 2nd half, can't remember who he done it past but it was lovely.

I was not at all confident when he was lining up the pen.

He spent 4 minutes and 30 seconds waiting in the most hostile enviroment you can be as a United player and still scored so it's all good for me.

Been pretty anonymous the last two games, I have to say. Needs to drop deep and get involved in play!

He relies on service just like Ruud and if he drops deep he will be in "Kagawa/Rooney territory" so he is better off up front.

We're doing a lousy job of getting the best out of himself and Kagawa. Teething problems, maybe but I'm not seeing the masterplan myself.

Still getting up to full fitness too no doubt, no pre-season really doesn't help players settle into new clubs.

I'd like to see him and Rooney link up. He needs service, which we haven't given, and he's still scoring. He will be fine.

He can play better, I'm 100% sure of that.

The fact that he's scored 5 goals despite not being at his best is exciting to me.

I know Kag is class n all but we need him playing alongside wayne. Easily outmuscled was Kagawa and became anonymous at times too but I cant wait for the RVP Rooney partnership working.

Full credit it to him for holding his nerve for that penalty. In truth, it wasn't the best penalty in the world, and Reina could well have saved it... but considering:

- He had 4 minutes to think about it
- He missed his last penalty by doing something stupid
- We had missed 3 penalties in a row as a club
- It was at Anfield
- It was to go into the lead.

Then fecking well done that man.

We don't really know yet how all this is going to work between: Rooney, Van Persie, Kagawa, Hernandez and Welbeck.

Yep. :)

looks like Arsenal are looking good going forward against city. Do hope RVP won't have regrets. He said that one reason he joined us was because "manchester united breathe football". I'm sure he is wondering if they play it as well, considering the shite service he has got so far...

I still feel like we're not getting the best of out of him yet. The service in and around him has got to improve significantly. He's a player who can be very effective with the more touches he has of the ball. I can't wait to see what Rooney will add to our attacking play with him and Kagwa.

Yes. Took some steel, that did.

But the penalty was a textbook example of why you should always go for power. Even if the keeper gets a hand on it, if you hit it with that kind of power, there's a great chance of it going in.

I do really hope that he does not regret joining us. Hopefully we will prove to be a great fit for him once we get our attack sorted out, but he would have been phenomenal for Arsenal based on this attacking displays this season.

Thought about that as well watching Arse piss all over City today. Bound to end up as usual though: depth being the problem.

The good thing is Rooney has been out, not being frustrated with rotation, and the case for him starting behind RvP is crystal clear now.

Very good point. With Podolski, Cazorla and a fit Diaby, Arsenal are so much better. At United he is struggling with the style of football.

He isnt Rooney. He's at his best playing right up top. Our service to him has been diabolical. If we continue to play like this, he'l always be anonymous. Give him service and the guy will guarantee you goals.

He isnt like our usual strikers.

This. Continually bashing the ball out to double marked wingers isn't going to create anything. We need to play through the middle more

He used to play further behind at Arsenal, and he was good wasn't he? And He also said Wenger encouraged him to take up the change to a lone frontman, and we all saw how good he was last year.

One thing that was missing is the lack of mobility in our central midfield. Yesterday, Giggs was invisible, and that didn't help Carrick at all. And Liverpool were all over us. It would have happened if had any runners like Clev, Ando in the center. I think Kagawa could've dropped deep to help Carrick, but he was as isolated as RvP upfront.

But then again, we've seen even Rooney getting no kind of service whatsoever in tough away games.

I think our preferred lineup with RVP would be a true 4-4-2 with him alongside Rooney. Kagawa is quality for linkup play and as a playmaker but I think he would play better alongside Rooney, Welbeck, Cleverley and Young rather than RVP.

Still his return has been excellent, even if not indicative of his overall performance levels.

Can't really see it. At the end of the day we'll be there again when silverware is handed out... whether we win it or not is another matter, but we'll be there until the end. Arsenal? They'll finish top four, like every year.
He's not even fit yet, hasn't any time to gel with Rooney, no pre-season and still has 5 goals in 5 appearances... with the team winning the first Champions League Group Stage Game, and 12/15 points, with two very difficult away games already out of our way. Why should he regret anything NOW? Because we're not playing up to our highest standards yet? I bet he likes to be three points ahead of his former club rather than being three points behind already.

Too early to be thinking about regrets or worrying about whether he will fit in. Just a period of adjustment. I bet he is looking forward to teaming up with Rooney as much as we are looking forward to seeing it.

so he's top scorer in the league, we will be up there competing on all fronts, we are notorious slow starters, we have rooney to come back, he's earning £250k per week. i bet he's gutted

He could hardly work miracles yesterday, could he? We didn't play that well as a team, so it would be hard for an individual to shine.

Regret joining Man Utd? From Arsenal?
