It's quite simple. Arsenal haven't won anything these last 7 seasons.

Do you really begrudge RvP the chance to win something in his career, Pete?

Arteta moving to Arsenal is on par with van Persie moving to United, in terms of a step-up for the players, club-wise.

He would have got more at city, surely, can't be solely about that.

It's his last big contract, if it was ever going to be about the money, now is the time, to be fair though.

We are a club that breathes football, after all.

A club which small boys shout the name of.

A club with a fantastic stadium with a capacity of 76 000 - a club where Ruud van Nistelrooy scored almost 150 goals.

Oh, Pete, wherever you may be
Seems we've bagged us van Persie
Could be worse, could be Jack,
No worries, though, we're coming back!

:lol::lol:

You are a bad bad fecker!! :D

He could have been a legend at Arsenal, feted like Bergkamp until the end of his days. Instead he'll just be a another no-mark cnut like Berbatov who played for Man Utd for a couple of years.

Berbatov/Van Persie were guaranteed to remain no mark cnuts if they stayed at clubs who make up the supporting cast. Any player with ambition at least wants a shot at the big time.

Arteta took a pay cut to join Arsenal - that's ambition, van Persie pockets £250K a week - that's just greed.

I have no idea what either is earning, just that both are earning insane money, and couldnprobably have earned even more elsewhere.

However, moving from Everton to Arsenal as as much of a step up as moving from Arsenal to United in terms of levels of the clubs.

He must be getting some decent cnut as well, every night with the league medal around his neck.

that's an odd distinction you've made, the line between hero and cnut is what ?

King never played for another club at all, both Bergkamp (another hero you mentioned) and Van Persie, both signed to Arsenal from other clubs, so to not be a cnut you have to retire at the club your at ?

This is what he saw...

That's why he wanted to leave Arsenal, and go to United instead of City. And not for the "fantastic challenge" at the club that "breathes football".

Henry was the same age as Van Persie when he left Arsenal for Barcelona... is he a cnut too?

Better to show some loyalty and make yourself immortal (even if it is only Spurs).

Nonsense,

He should have signed for Oglethorpe and become a God, they'd have sacrificed all the sheep in the village just so he could bathe in the blood before games, that's how you do it !

Yeah, that cnut with his fecking injuries. Infuriates the feck outta me it does.

I like also, how the 'two years' he gave you, neither were brilliant.

Pretty much secured Champions League football for Arsenal on his own last season. I mean where would they be right now without that?

Is that Brendan Rodgers trapped inside those grapes?

Arsenal fan losing his head on talksport now.
