So glad to have him back, really. His class up front is something else and it showed well in the last game. Him and Mata combining is a mouth watering prospect, both should compliment each other really well and could produce some really good quality of football.

I think when he was on the pitch him and Mata were almost a front 2 and Mata looked to make runs when Robin held the ball, the back and forth there looked quite promising. I really hope Robin can remain fit, I don't see age having any sort of effect on his game, he rarely relies on pace.

Football logic: Journalists & fans seem to think that seasons last six months. How many of these people are now claiming, say, Owen Coyle is destined for greatness; Paul Lambert the same; Ian Holloway has really established his Blackpool team in the PL? Early on last season, a few RAWKites were banned for posting stuff like 'Taxi for the tiki-taka tithead', so inept Rodgers appeared to be...yet now he's, apparently, 'the best British manager, obviously'. Last season, Roberto Martinez took his team down but now he's Guardiola-in-waiting, it seems. 'Dour dinosaur' Moyes, whose team were so hard to beat that they cost us a title, is now cast as a clown who can't compare to the stylish Spanish genius at Everton. Tony Pulis, whose name was a byword for all that's wrong about British football management, is now 'fantastic'. Oh, and RVP surely regrets leaving perennial under-achievers Arsenal - no trophies in eight years, remember - for that club which has practically won 99/100 titles for ages; after all, Arsenal have had such a glorious six months...and, apparently, six months equals 'forever'. I could go on, and I probably will, but you get the idea...

In conclusion, SAF might as well have told us to 'stick by your manager, for a few months - if you have the patience - and then hold stupid opinions about him because the newspapers told you to.'

Very good post Steve.

Well in a hypothetical situation where Arsenal won the league theyd have done well for more than six months. But Id certainly agree fans are fickle.

Yes, true. They have been good for a while now but with the fixtures they have coming up, I'd be amazed if they dont end up fighting for the 4th spot, let alone winning the league. City will coast that this year.

Love it, brilliant post! Will get drowned out in shite soon enough though.

This might be my favourite video of yours yet MoneyMay.

Some really good moments. Those turns against Chelsea and Arsenal, the backheel against Arsenal, the first Swansea goal, the way he always excellently holds up the ball before releasing people, winning the ball back then setting us off on counter attacks against Fulham and Leverkusen, and I really liked how you showed how his corners actually land on our players heads and his defensive contribution in and around our own box.
We really have missed him in the last 6-8 weeks.

Great video.

His control, hold up play and defending corners is something out of this world really. Feel so much safer about the score when he's on the pitch.

For all my 'defence' of Moyes, he might turn out to be crap, for all I know. What I was trying to get across was this: we're all thoroughly used to, say, newly-promoted teams making flying starts...and then trailing off badly; or new managers doing well (or badly) at first only to show their true worth later on; so judging a manager's abilities on the evidence of a mere one half of a season seems rather silly given that "it's a marathon, not a sprint".

To be honest, I've never rated Moyes.

I see what you are saying but people have a good basis of judging Moyes after his ten years with Everton.

Before he joined my opinion about him was: good man with great work ethic, dignity and integrity Football wise: average football, - some good moments, moments of brilliance and moments of utter crap. Out-dated.

My opinion hasn't changed a bit.

Different bank roll and ability to attract a different caliber of player. Underwhelmed by Fellieni, then he pull Mata out the hat.

RvP looking sharp was the biggest positive from the match on Tuesday, hopefully he goes on a run now and stays fit until the end of the season as we are missing the kind of match winner that can salvage poor performances.

The guy is different class honestly. When you watch him, you just know your watching a top quality technician, his movement his touch his hold up play the way he strikes the ball . Hpefully he can give us another 2-3 ful seasons and around 80-100 goals. I want him to be remembered here.

It would be a shame if we do not add a proper base (midfield) when we have RVP, Rooney and Mata up front. We could either be devastating if we do, or potentially waste one of the best front line ever if we don't.

 Good lord, he's not that good.

I completely agree. We can get another 2 top years out of Van Persie I feel. I think we will address the midfield and lb in the summer. If we can get some real quality in we will have the starting 11 to be right back up there. A good squad to me has 15-16 players who are good enough to be starting, I feel our squad is okay. If we get that quality in then Moyes will have no excuses, and he will have the right foundation to make a real push on all fronts. Next summer will be big hoepfully we can still finish in the top 4 this year.

Agreed.
Absolutely brilliant video!
Thank you, Rossa.
Love your videos. Not a fan of the music, but great viewing!
Thank, RIP. Music isn't my strong point, but I try to use non-copyrighted tunes to ensure that my video isn't taken down/not viewable to certain parts of the world.
Very nicely done MoneyMay. Much better video compilation than those that only show goals and 100 repeats of the same goal after.
Haha, thanks, Freak!

I actually think if we can add to other areas of the starting 11 sufficiently, we'll be able to manage his appearances with greater ease without the worry of where the goals will come from, and lengthen his time with us as a result.

Really weird to think though that he's now older than Ruud was when we sold him.

These quotes seem to be creating "Robin van Persie decides when he's fit to play" type headlines:

"Regarding taking Van Persie's direction about when the 30-year-old, who had been out since early December because of a thigh problem, feels he is fit enough to play, Moyes said: "I have taken Robin's advice on where he feels he is at, if he is ready to play and how long he feels he is able to play. All the things I am doing I am taking from Robin. He is a player who is so important to us. I need to know exactly where he is at."
(From The Guardian)

Something abt his body language suggest he's not happy atm.

Look haggard, tired, jaded, even his smile is gone....

How can any of the players be happy at the moment? He's our best player anyway so hope he sticks around, the fact he remained at a shite Arsenal for so long might bode well for us.

no striker in the world can be happy with the support received from the united midfield. with the exception of mata, none of our players look likely to find a teammate inside the penalty box.

That was worse performance than probably any of Welbeck's this season, even though we created few chances for him and Rooney, but both of them are intouchable, but we can blame Welbeck every time we lose points because that's how we roll.
Btw, I am not blaming van Persie for this draw, or saying that Welbeck is better than him, it was just poor performance, every player has one, but I hope people will realise that you can't blame your third choice striker for not being the difference when this season our world class striker looks like average player.

It was a shit performance (Welbeck vs Stoke was worse though, that was awful) but lets be honest, with the tactics we play we're using him like Peter Crouch. We're not getting him involved at all in the overall play and it's clearly down to the tactics. It doesn't suit him at all and we can't expect him to do well when all we do is hoof it in to him time and time again.
Everyone has shit performances, and I'm definitely not blaming Welbeck for anything. He just isn't ready to start for United yet because of his lack of experience at being a striker and I'm not sure if he has the talent to get there, that's why I was saying he should have been loaned out last season. He's still very raw.

Yeah, but it's same with Welbeck too, we hardly change our style when playing Welbeck, but if Welbeck just had this type of performance, his thread would be full of moaners, double standards.

Should have scored at the back post, for someone who has his first touch. His volleying technique is usually impeccable, but he botched that. The ball had pace on it, but he should be netting those. A couple of other sniffs, but otherwise barely involved.

Would have liked to have seen us use him more in the build up play as he's the best around at holding up the ball, but I genuinely can't remember us playing any forward passes to players who were stood on or around the edge of the box. Everything went out wide.

19 passes today. We're talking about one of the best players in the world here, and we're using him in the most retarded way imagineable. We might as well flog him, play Hernandez and save the wages for Rooney and a centre half.

Could send Mata with him considering both are wasted in this set up. I was actually just thinking that we'd probably be better of with Fellaini as a number ten if we're gonna play like this which when we have rooney, rvp, mata, januzaj and kagawa is a terrible thought.

Why pick on van Persie? No striker in the world would have done anything today with our atrocious tactics. Whip it in all night long.

We should ask Ole to loan us Crouch.
