At this rate, don't even need rumours. He's nailed on to leave next summer.

Disappointing because Moyes had a chance to not play him. We could have played with Nani and Valencia down the wings and Januzaj as a #10. Van Persie has never played well as a SS for us. He has scored crucial goals starting in this position (Newcastle last season), but he's not involved enough. Good to see him back though.

Speaking to a Liverpool supporting mate of mine today....Reckons RVP was a disgrace today as he looked like he could not be arsed...regardless of fitness or not.

What do you reckon?

Bollocks.

If he couldn't be arsed why did he stay on when Moyes asked him was he alright?

Not shooting the messenger, man. You asked what we reckon about the opinion - it's bollocks. He wouldn't have said if it weren't for the rumours.

I wouldn't call it a disgrace, I'd say both he and his manager knew he wasn't going to be over-exuberant and the idea of him staying on was to hope for that one moment where a player of his quality may have taken a chance than someone else wouldn't have.

My opinion is that he shouldn't play if he can't give it his all, no player should. But with Rooney out it was always on the cards.

He looks unhappy to me. He hasn't looked right since the opening day really. I know that he was coming back from injury today but I was disappointed with the effort that he put in.

Agree with Amar that he didn't even look 50% fit.
Shouldn't have started as I doubt he'd done much prep for this game and it's risking aggravating his injuries further which could ultimately lead to him being out for even longer. Whilst it was good to see his name back on the teamsheet initially, it definitely wasn't good to see him playing 90mins whilst he was that far from fitness.

He looked like a player not 100% match fit today. The rumours about him not being happy at surely rubbish, his reaction to his goal Vs Arsenal shows his commitment to the cause.

Of course he is. Having got used to win a couple of trophies every season throughout his career a mere championship winners medal to show for a two-year effort is a poor return he couldn't possibly tolerate.

SPORT are in no way reliable.

Indeed.

RvP

"What I enjoy most is the interaction together, that we both want to play together," Robin said in an interview with UEFA.com. "We both realise that we are better off playing together, because we are stronger when we are playing together, as a partnership. That's the main thing in any partnership.
"You have to have a certain partnership when you're playing with the number 9 and number 10, the main striker and the second striker. A left-back and a left winger need to have a partnership; the midfielders need to have a partnership; the two centre-backs, together with both full-backs, are the same.

"So you all have small partnerships in a big partnership, and I think it's very important that you want to work together and you try to feed the ball in to each other, and make each other stronger. You are always stronger, in any sport, in life, when you are doing stuff together. So that makes me really happy."

"With a player of Wayne's calibre, we can go from strength to strength, and we can become better; even better than we do it now," added van Persie. "I think we've been playing really well together, we've been setting up goals for each other and scoring, which is what I want. One game he will score a couple, the next game I will score a couple.

"Hopefully we get more goals from the wingers as well, which is important, and the midfielders. But it is important that this partnership is growing and becoming even stronger."

Can someone enlighten me, I don't even understand why there are rumours about him leaving already? I must have missed something but it seems absolutely bonkers.

Hates Moyes, Ferguson lied to him about not retiring*, we're midtable team with no ambitions, hates Moyes' training methods, shagged Moyes' daughter.

Take your pick from that pile of bullshit.

*that's actually true(?)

I think the 'lying' about not retiring was blown out of proportion a little. Certain circumstances came up and he obviously had to change his decision. He apologized to RVP and I'm sure RVP is old enough to accept that.

He signed for a manager in his 70s. To be shocked he ain't there any longer is hardly cause for a transfer request.

If he is unhappy I'd speculate it's coaching/training. Last year we all recall comments of how happy he was in training, how excited he was to be learning things every day and felt once again like a 17 year old. Now he's being coached by people with no experience coaching at this level and some with no experience of coaching at all.

It must be like having your science teacher change from Steven Hawkins to Giles Brandreth.

Half true - Ferguson didn't "lie" as such, just changed his mind. Whether he is angry about it I don't know though.

Now there's someone in the opposition view thread questioning how long he's got at the top level  Jesus Christ some people. He's 30 for fecks sake.

You really are a true Mickey Phelan fan, aren't you?

Give it a rest. We know you'll blame Moyes for everything, without even a shred of evidence, but it's getting incredibly boring listening to the lengths you'll go to do so.

You have absolutely no idea what I've said about Moyes before.

He should be patient we just won him his first league title, we won't win the league this season but a few key acquisitions in Summer and we are right back in there. The Fergie retiring things would make anyone unhappy. He wanted to go somewhere he could win and Fergie was a BIG part of that. Fergie said if we had beaten City two years ago he would have retired so it was obviously in his mind. I don't think he has the balls to request a transfer even if he wants one.

His body language wasn't all that yesterday, wouldn't really blame him if he wanted out next summer.

Why? Because he got his premierleague champions medal just after one season with, something he could just dream about in Arsenal for past 8 years?
