From what Rene has said since he was let go it seems that he was actually the one to rid mankind of all of their sins

Heh, yeah. All the old man did was flip the occasional coin to decide who would start. Might as well've kept Big Ron, I reckon.

Seriously, though - it's obviously plausible that Rene had some bearing on it. He might've tapped RVP up a bit, as they say.

Is he allowed to celebrate on Sunday? Or is it still the respectful stage?

I'm sort of hoping for a arms-out-wide knee-slide...

I think he'll celebrate a goal big style! He'll be getting it hard from the gooners and I reckon he'll be wound up and desperate to get on the scoresheet. We need a big RvP performance tomorrow.I actually don't think i'll sleep tonight.I'm like a coiled spring!

Hopefully he's sitting in a dark room now, remembering all the hateful comments their scumbag fans shouted at the 2 games since, and is whipping himself up into a frenzy.

And then if he scores, screw them, celebrate it like a DON this time.

His celebration will again be muted if he scores don't know who you guys are trying to kid

This. Even if quite a few fans behave like morons (United have their fair share too), there is too much respect between RVP and Wenger, and there are many fans who still think he's a great player and appreciate what he did for the club; yeah, I've met a few of them too. Arsenal fans in Norway tend to be quite decent actually...

He wouldn't celebrate if he scores I don't think.

It's not that surprising that Wenger still considers RVP an Arsenal man, it's probably a notion many Arsenal people find difficult to shake - I mean Arsenal were even applauding RVP on to the pitch when we played at the Emirates last season, so that must mean they still love him

Arsenal will probably always be his main club so I don't see him celebrating nor do I give a shit if he does/doesn't.

He won't ever celebrate against them. One league winners medal doesn't change his opinion.

I'm not saying he should celebrate like Adebayor vs Arsenal but he is a United player now, is it going to hurt someone's feelings if he celebrates normally?

We saw both sides of this last season, first with Van Persie and then with Ronaldo, twice. If Ronaldo had celebrated, there would have been a fair few slating him on here I think, whether he deserved it or not.

Arsenal fans', his former fellow team mates, Wenger's ?

Thankfully, it's obvious he won't celebrate though, would've been classless imo.

Not all of them, that's a generalisation. Even if you cross those out, then there're still his old mates and Wenger left.

Will his former teammates not celebrate in case it hurts Van Persie's feelings?

Why should he celebrate?

Because this whole non-celebration thing is just ridiculous. I could maybe understand if you had just condemned your former team to relegation, or if something bad had happened before/after the game (ex. a Heysel/Vivien-Foe type of situation.) But who do these players honestly think they are kidding when they adopt the bashful, slump-shouldered look? If they really felt guilty, they probably shouldn't have left in the first place.

Adebayor might be an idiot, but at least his celebration was sincere.

That's a good point. Maybe people shouldn't take this "oh no he celebrated" stuff so seriously. The player is obviously happy. Why shouldnt he show it?

No, because it's not them who left him but him who left them. I'm baffled by some 'logic' displayed here.

Nobody's expecting them to feel guilty nor do they feel guilty, it's just a proper sign of respect when you don't celebrate against your former team, I see nothing ridiculous in it. Adebayor indeed is an idiot and his celebration was childish to say the least, just to wind up the fans. Immensely small time from him, even though hilarious from a neutral point of view ( like yours or mine ).

feck 'respect'. He's playing at Old Trafford and if he scores a goal, there's feck all wrong with him celebrating. If the Arsenal fans think they have a right to boo him for making what was a very good career move then he has the right to celebrate.

And I expect him to celebrate if he scores, he's always had that cnutish streak him in him and I doubt he's forgotten all the booing of last season.

I doubt he would celebrate flagrantly if he scored, but wouldn't be surprised if he did so in a more restrained or understated way.

Must be a scary prospect to him - Arsenal winning the league. Leaving to win it only to find out that he could've stayed back, won it and achieved cult status may be daunting.

Arsenal winning the league is hardly a foregone conclusion. He has one PL medal in his pocket. Arsenal are far from guaranteed to win it.

You seem to be he only one who thinks he should not celebrate because of his former teammate feelings. Maybe your logic is a little off here.

If he was that bothered about upsetting Arsenal fans he would not have fecked off to Manchester United.

Keeping quiet if you score against an old team is just the polite thing to do nowadays.
