 He's dragging the celebrations out for as long as possible. Normally our lads are shifting their focus to the next one within days of winning the last. You can tell he's not used to it!

Robin Van Persie warns United training methods mean that he can only get better

Midas Dutch: RVP says he will only get better

Robin Van Persie has warned that he is only going to get better.
Van Persie’s scored 30 goals in his first season at Manchester United and won the Premier League.
But even as he approaches his 30th birthday, the Dutchman has revealed that he is so desperate to improve that he even takes his work home with him.
Van Persie gets United’s coaching staff to compile a weekly DVD to help him learn from his mistakes.
He said: “When Sir Alex Ferguson told me he wanted to sign me from Arsenal last year, I said to him that I was still improving as a player.
“I may be 29 now, but everything I do in training is tailored so that I can become a better footballer.
“That includes watching DVDs of myself. I started doing it when I was at Arsenal. Steve Rowley, who is the head of scouting at the club, used to make me a DVD of all my actions from every game.
“I would collect a new one every Monday morning and I could not wait to watch it because it enabled me to study both my good moments and my bad moments in every game I played.
“When I was younger, that kind of attention to detail was not possible.

“Now I get a full understanding of whether I made the right or wrong choices in every game. I have continued to do that at United. Sometimes you think you have done okay in a game but, when you watch it again from a different angle, you realise that there were better options you could have taken. I find that kind of detail so important for my own development.
“It is not about watching my goals again. It is about identifying mistakes and the desire to improve. I want to learn all the time.”
Van Persie, who has been made captain of Holland on their tour to the Far East, insists he has learned from every manager he has played under.
But he admitted that the way United tailored training sessions last season was a real eye-opener.
Van Persie said: “I have been lucky to work with many great managers.
“Bert van Marwijk at Feyenoord and Holland, Marco van Basten and Louis van Gaal at Holland and Arsene Wenger at Arsenal. I learned something from every single one of them, yet the great thing about working under Sir Alex last season was the level of expertise.
“I loved the way Sir Alex and the coach Rene Meulensteen prepared us for matches. They would design training sessions to suit both the team and the individual.

Hail to the chief: Van Persie has paid tribute to his former gaffer
Matthew Peters

“It was like being a musician in an orchestra. We had a conductor and when everybody did his job the way he was expected to do it, the end product was fantastic.
“We used to train all week on a certain pattern with our attacking play.
“Every detail had to be right, but if we scored on Saturday using the things we had learned in training then the joy was incredible.” http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/robin-van-persie-warns-united-1940319#ixzz2VjZRXo8Y

Another cool interview. His comments on Rene are interesting because I'm sure he's not oblivious to the speculation.

I think a lot of sportsmen need to model their game and attitude on him, because he just epitomizes what a true footballer should be. He pretty much came out as the best striker in the Premier League and still that isn't enough for him and wants to become better. Perhaps Rooney should take a look at him and take some tips

STUNNED ... Robin van Persie
Fergie rocked Robin
ROBIN VAN PERSIE has revealed how Alex Ferguson’s resignation shocked Manchester United’s superstars.

The Dutch striker said he and his team-mates were left dumbstruck when Fergie told them he was ending his 27-year reign as boss last month.

Van Persie, 29, said: “Sir Alex came through the dressing-room door and the first thing he said was that he was retiring.
“I had to gasp for breath and I shook my head. Had he really said what I thought he’d said?
“The room fell deathly quiet and then everyone became emotional.
“Sir Alex then had a long talk with the squad. I found it a very special speech and felt privileged to have witnessed it.
“It was an historical moment for football, even though I was not happy to hear his message.”
RVP, who has just been appointed captain of Holland, also revealed he has passed up the chance to earn millions from product endorsements.
The ex-Arsenal ace said: “A great deal of offers come my way but I am the type of person who limits what I do.
I don’t do many things like this. When I do something it is only because I support it entirely.
I look to see whether it is something that sends a good message to young people.
I ignore a great deal of them as I don’t want to spend much time on them. The sporting aspect of my career comes first.”

So Robin talks to the media a LOT whilst on holiday. It's almost like he's holding daily press conferences!

well that puts yet another damper on the "money" claims as the reason why he chose United.

Judging by his interviews, along with Beckham RVP is the only other player who you think masturbates every night with to a picture of the United emblem.

What reason would he have to 'play up to the fans'? He's a world class footballer who doesn't have to say a thing, as he does his talking on the pitch.

I'd love it if every one of our players 'playing up to the fans'. It means we meant something for them, instead of moaning about the weather, food, or press.

And I can picture how his eyes glowing, every time he talks about being at United. It's really refreshing, and I'd never get tired hearing/reading it.

Only if it's a picture of himself wearing it, by the sounds of things.

I don't think he's playing up to the fans, he just seems to love admiring himself being admired by other people.

It sounded fake to me. I'm over the moon to have him at United, but I realise that football is a business. I'd be more please if he said he came he solely to be a winner.

It's silly to think he's nuts about the football club or even that Rvp is trying to suggest he is. He's clearly loving being at the club though which is completely understandable given a player of his caliber never got to win top honours for most of his career and is finally able to.

But you'll always find people looking for "more" out what a player actually says. Some will say he wanks to united pictures and others that he's being fake. It's neither, he's just loving where he is in his career because he's waited for a long time to experience these things. I doubt he has any actual affection for united beyond liking life there.

As for playing it up for the fans. Well, these are the people that chant your name all game. They "play it up" for you all the bloody time. They wouldn't do so if you turned a bit shit. Fans are as fickle as anyone. It's good if players speak well about the club and the fans. It's wrong if they make promises they can't keep, but I haven't seen Rvp do that yet. "The little child screaming united" and comments like that are often sensationalised by some whereas its a pretty simple emotion when you look at it for what it is. The guy was excited to play for united, a team that's the biggest one in England and consistently winning big honours.

That's how I understood his comments, too. When he decided to leave Arsenal for professional reasons, United were the most exciting option for him. Considering United's tradition, size, winning history, winning mentality and reputation, it's not diffiult for me to understand that we were more exciting than let's say Man City or PSG. United is one of the biggest clubs in the world and I don't think him being excited to play for it means that he is suggesting that we have always been his dream club or boyhood club or something.

It's clear that Man City would pay him more than United but his choice was...

You sound like someone who looks for things which aren't really there. RvP doesn't really have much else to gain from these comments. He has been instrumental in United winning no.20 and scored some fabulous goals along the way. We all know that's more than enough to win over the fans.

I think for himself, he is getting carried away with his first league win because for a long time, it looked to be elusive. The one thing he wanted to accomplish in his career was slowly fading. In one season, he completes a dream he's probably spent countless nights pondering about it and achieves what few footballers have been able to taste. A trophy. So from that perspective, I think his comments are fine. Perhaps they're getting excessive for someone like you but that doesn't change what those comments mean to him.

They very well could be fake but considering his circumstances, I find that to be a minute possibility. In one sense, he's just a professional over the moon with what he's achieved and is happy to express that sentiment through these interviews. Even if the subject matter doesn't necessarily have to do with trophies.

Besides do we really know what "little boy inside screaming for Manchester United" really means? That could have been his way of saying this is my time to join a team of champions. I can understand where you're coming from Gooose but I think van Persie is the exception in this case. If he's been playing up the fans, he's certainly determined to do it because he's been like this all season long. However, I respectfully disagree and I think he really enjoys being here. His interviews have shown he's a lad who truly loves the game and he appreciates what our club is about. So I can see why the little boy inside may have screamed for United. In my eyes, he's one of the few players who is more than just a professional in the game of football.

These type of characters used to be more common but in the modern game, it's harder to see these sides of the players. The days of walking side by side your favorite footballer and just talking about football and life in general are simply a thing of the past. I wish some of you got to experience it. It was when football really was romantic. So I understand your skepticism but I think van Persie's interviews have been a reminder of footballers can be like beyond just playing the game. It's refreshing to hear and if you remember the interview he had with SkySports some time ago, I doubt you would say he was also playing up to the fans there. To me, it was pretty clear that it was a genuine interview.

Playing a friendly now against china on espn

Edit - just scored now too

The lovable Dutch bastard. I hated him when he was at Arsenal. fecking prick.

Always thought he was an arrogant shitstirring prick with the gooners. Then last season happened. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought he would be so successful here and its only the beginning.

I'm glad that I've always liked him. I may not have been too keen on him when he first joined the PL, but I always admired him as a player. Thought he became more likable with age.

Thrilled that he's with us.

RvP: My first year at United

In an Inside United interview, Robin van Persie selected his 20 favourite moments from an epic debut 2012/13 season with United.

1. OT arrival “I remember I was very excited on this day. I was buzzing about this new challenge. I was living off the adrenaline!”
2. First training session “Training started late while I finished a few medical tests before I could officially train. I couldn’t wait to get out on the pitch, though.”
3. First game (Everton 1 United 0) “I came on with a tough 20 minutes to go at Everton. Even though we lost it was still a great day. I was proud to make my debut.”
4. OT debut (United 3 Fulham 2) “It was a dream start, scoring after 10 minutes of my home debut. What a day. I played 90 minutes but I admit I struggled after an hour!”
5. Hat-trick hero (S'ton 2 United 3) “A crazy game but we never gave up. I apologised in the dressing room for missing the penalty. It was a great win, it felt significant.”
6. Anfield winner (Liverpool 1 United 2) “This time, I made sure of my penalty. It was great to score the winner. I didn’t have my best game but it felt good to beat Liverpool.”
7. Euro double (Cluj 1 United 2) “It was a fantastic Wazza pass for my second at Cluj. The keeper came towards me and I just guided it past him. It spun into the net beautifully.”
8. Take it to the Bridge (Chelsea 2 United 2) “I love playing against Chelsea and I’ve scored all my goals against them at Stamford Bridge. It’s a great place to play, and win.”
9. Gunner get you (United 2 Arsenal 1) “A weird day. I should’ve scored two. I’d never played against a former team so scoring was strange. But you have a job to do.”
10. Derby day (City 2 United 3) “Wayne and I discussed what to do at the free-kick. Shoot or cross? My shot deflected off the wall past Hart. You can’t get luckier than that!”
11. Hammer blow (West Ham 2 United 2) “A late goal. Giggsy’s pass was unbelievable. I didn’t break stride. I had a good first touch and decent finish to earn a replay.”
12. Earn your Spurs (Spurs 1 United 1) “It was snowing, cold and they nicked a draw. I scored from Cleverley’s great cross, but it’s the result I remember more.”
13. Toffees broken (United 2 Everton 0) “My goal was a bit lucky to make it 2-0. It went in and we were relieved because we’d of what happened in the 4-4 draw the year before.”
14. Real deal (Real Madrid 1 United 1) “One of football’s most iconic stadiums; my first time there. We had chances to win (including me) and we needed to win really.”
15. Hard to take (United 1 Real 2) “A harsh red card for Nani. It was a blow, everything up to that moment was right. Everyone got behind us and the atmosphere was electric.”
16. Stoked to score (Stoke 0 United 2) “The lads gave me stick for my celebration but I wanted to share the moment. Sir Alex has been a joy to work with.”
17. Cheering on Spurs “I cheered for Spurs against City. Can you believe it? An ex-Arsenal player wanted Spurs to win! We knew the title was one game away.”
18. That goal (United 3 Villa 0) “It was instinct. I looked up and thought: ‘This ball is so nice. It’s too beautiful to take a touch’. Everything was exactly as I wanted it to be.”
19. Trophy time “This is for the fans, players and staff. What I really like is it’s made so many people happy. Kids, babies, women, men – they’re all so happy.”
20. Awards night “Winning [Player of the Year] is fantastic. Being involved with the guys has made such an impact on me. They’re a pleasure to work with.”

This lad knows how to make videos. Loved the music and the fact that the music volume was lowered when the commentary came on.

Now that we have our 20th Championship and RVP's squad number was suppose to represent the 20th... is he going to change his number to 21?

Thanks for that. I also how used the music. I just don't like 'tunnel vision' effect or whatever it's called.

He has made the shortlist for the UEFA Best Player in Europe Award. We all know who's going to win it but it's a great achievement to be ranked in the top 10.
