'Van Persie has scored 48 Premier League goals in 55 games since 1 January 2011. Only Rooney (37) has scored more than half as many in that time.'

I'm going to poo myself several times on Monday.

Nah if they really do hit it off and it is an if. This is the best time to play them as Van Persie hasn't had any semblance of a pre-season and Rooney is still rusty.

I was first.

:(

Sorry Omar.

Best time for you to play us. I'll be surprised if van Persie starts given he hasn't played much in preseason.

People might have a bit more sympathy if the two most prolific arse posters here werent such obvious wums for years. As ye reap etc.

Don't think Storey is on a WUM, just disappointed and forever hopeful, which is understandable. Some of their youngsters coming through and signings supported the optimism, then this happens, and Song apparently off as well... and it's back to square one.

I actually do have a lot of sympathy for the continuous reset they are going through. They are a top club trying to do things the right way but being fecked several times over by the current reality of football.

Will be interesting whether they keep at it or start abandoning all that they actually get right. If they do, they get on a slippery slope to become the southern Liverpool: "So and so fecked us... but next season".

Wilshere ever kicking a football again could have a big say in that.

I always thought RVP's free kicks were excellent, accuracy and power.

Edit: but yeah been saying his praises for a while, thought he was much better than silva last year. over the moon that we've signed him.

He was in his gone-to-shit-period at Goodison last season and we had to hang on for a 0-1 after he missed about 4 good chances. This continued through the Euros and will hopefully carry on this season.

genuinely surprised SAF would spend that much on a 29 year old, not that I am complaing the yanks are splashing some serious cash!

going to be a little weird now supporting a player that annoyed me last season must have been the gooners shirt

I'd have more sympathy towards Arsenal fans if they weren't acting like big time drama queens.
What the feck do you want.. 'yes I understand RiP is entitled to move on in search of money and (possible) trophies, jolly good luck old bean'. feck that.

Welcome to Manchester you miserable little mercenary.

(btw I am a United fan, but I understand how the Arsenal fans are feeling about that classless Judas)

He'll be a great signing!

What number will he be? Berba needs to be shifted quickly if he wants that #9.

Err....why "feck that"?

Also, I wonder how much more money he is actually on.

Look, I completely understand why Arsenal fans are annoyed and feeling bitter about life right now.

So, perhaps it would make sense for any Arsenal supporters who happen to be posting rambling nonsense in this thread to log themselves out of the United forum for the night and come back tomorrow, or Friday. At least try and provide some sense and conjecture instead of repeatedly calling an ex-players cnuts all the time. Hell, perhaps even log in to an Arsenal forum where like-minded supporters on suicide-watch can wind each other up into a frenzy?

Whatcha say, Pete? You're taking the edge off my fantastic day. :)

Last 7 fecking years? He spent half of them in the treatment room and when he gets himself fit he fecks off the disloyal cnut.

.....he was in the treatment room playing for Arsenal.

personally I was not all too keen for him.
We would not even have been in for him if not for the fact he obviously wanted to come to us.

I think it was fair for United to have compensated Arsenal for all they invested in the player.

But hey...go on and keep your fingers crossed for the player to be injured eh....

Yeah, it's a bit much to expect you lot to take this with good humour. When Rooney was acting the dick a lot of people were pretty fecking unhappy, so I can only imagine how pissed off they would have been had it gone so far as a deal being almost done (never mind the obvious argument re his injuries). Similar happened to us with Ronaldo and it'll happen again to us soon enough, so I'm not going to start crowing.

He could have been an Arsenal legend like Bergkamp, now he'll just be a cnut like Stapleton, who fecked off to Man Utd for the £££ and won feck all.
But there was no reason for Bergkamp to leave Arsenal. It made perfect sense for him to stay, especially after what happened at Inter.

Anyway even if RVP stayed put at Arsenal, he still wouldn't reach the heights of Bergkamp. Or Henry.

That would be disappointing

There's a good chance of something disappointing happening you'd think. Kagawa not playing behind the front man, Rooney out of position, Valencia at right back, Welbeck not getting enough games, etc.

I don't know how the feck we're going to fit all these players in. Maybe they'll all just fit seamlessly into a single formation, gel immediately and completely shite all over the league. Robin Van Persie, Rooney, Nani, Kagawa and Valencia in the same team...

That's fecking mental.

Can't believe we actually signed him. Really happy and looking forward to some exciting football this season. Can't wait to see how we will line up.

Rooney would have hurt more because he'd join Man City and also a direct competitor for the league title. The only animosity between Arsenal and United is past history.
It's painful for the Arsenal fans but it could have been a lot worse (RVP leaving for free as he was never gonna extend his contract)

Rooney wanting away because United weren't successful was crap, van Persie leaving Arsenal because they aren't successful is correct.

Exactly the same crap. The only difference is that you gave in to his blackmail.

People weren't pissed off because of the rationale behind wanting to leave as much as the lack of loyalty in wanting to leave at all.

It is understood Van Persie was encouraged by the arrivals of Germany forward Lukas Podolski, France striker Olivier Giroud and Spain midfielder Cazorla - to the point where he was open to the idea of staying with or without a new contract.
Past transfer dealings

But Wenger pulled him aside shortly before Sunday's friendly victory over Cologne, told him he would be sold if a deal could be reached and informed the Dutchman he was no longer part of his plans.

Formal discussions between Arsenal and United began immediately, with Gazidis and United chief executive David Gill agreeing a fee of £22.5m on Tuesday, only for it to be vetoed by Wenger as he held out for £25m.

On Wednesday morning, United boss Sir Alex Ferguson called Wenger to offer £23m and Wenger quoted him £24m.

Interesting.

Nah it's not. We won the league only the season before and went on to win the league that season. Van Persie's experienced season after season of failure with no light at the end of the tunnel. Understandable why he wanted to move on.

Surely not even you can compare Arsenal's current status with United's when Rooney wanted to leave?

I think you have to realize Arsenal is not as great as you think, Pete. Your players certainly seems to have realized.

So now they've won the title and we won feck all how are you feeling? Starting to reassess whether he was right?

Yeah, us losing the title in the last second of the league on goal difference sure proves that Rooney was right and we're a shadow of our former self.

I'd have more sympathy towards Arsenal fans if they weren't acting like big time drama queens.

I think the last thing Arsenal fans want right now is patronising sympathy from United fans.
