Expect Arsenal lads here, mainly Pete, to suddenly completely change their minds about RVP's quality.

'He's only had 1 good year' or sth like that.

Nah he's brilliant, loses the best defenders in the league with ease.

The cnut.

So, how many have called up their Arsenal friends and sung "He leaves when he wants" so far?

I have one Arsenal friend down here and he is so jovial a person I would feel bad mocking

Must admit I'm a bit bitter about this one but at the same time quite relieved he has finally fecked off, not because he joined your lot because in a weird way prefer that to Man City but more at him. Stuck with him through all his disciplinary problems, rape case and injuries and after 1.5 good seasons suddenly this club no longer matched his ambition.

It is ironic that people here moan about mercenary cnuts, well you've just signed one! Then again most footballers aren't much better so I shouldn't be surprised. The fee is rumoured to be £22.5mill rising to £24mill and I don't understand why your lot spent that much on him when a striker is the last thing I would of thought your squad needs but Fergie knows better than me I suppose....

There's no need to talk about our Robin like that.

Just realised we've got someone who can take free kicks and corners now. Young/Rooney as the right-footed options with Van Persie as the main one.

all the gooners calling him mercenary....think about how many loyal years he gave the club....and over the last 7 years he has been frustrated with the lack of trophies.

He could have easily joined City. Instead he choose to join a proper club who can fulfill his ambition.

He isn't really a mercenary is he? Yeah Nasri might be, but Robin isn't. Unless absolutely anyone that leaves any club of their own volition is a mercenary. But then that is the way football fans think.
He's not a mercenary cnut because he joined you and Nasri is because he joined City?

Exactly, he has given 7 years service and won nothing. If he joined Real Madrid or Barcelona is he a mercenary then? No, its just because its United and they have to vent.

Not sure about that.

Last 7 fecking years? He spent half of them in the treatment room and when he gets himself fit he fecks off the disloyal cnut.

I am a new twitter member and I have seen this joke about a million times on it today.

I am now cancelling my account. It's shit

Twitters OK if you filter out the crap.

Football wise I follow Tom Cleverly, Rio, Micheal Owen and BBC sport.

Decent updates on football and Rios twitter war with piers morgan aside, no inane rubbish.

No, because Nasri was 24, and was at Arsenal for 2 and a half years.

RVP has been at Arsenal for 7 years, and is 29.

Plus one left for a club flushed by oil money, and a wage unlikely to be matched anywhere else, with no history of success, and the other has left for a prestigious club with a hugely successful history, and most likely less than others (City, PSG, Chelsea) could have offered him.

Weren't Arsenal fans using van Persie's injuries to losing out on trophies for quite some years, now they claim he has had one good season?

That's right, be bitter that a player who has wasted his career in a team that's going nowhere, decided he wanted to finish with something meaningful. Heaven forbid that a top class footballer wants to finish his career with winning more than one FA Cup and 1 Charity Shield. Something he will retire at Arsenal without doing.

His free kicks really aren't all that great. He just rams it hard into the wall or stands quite often. Or atleast that's what happens most times I see him take a free kick in a dangerous area.

Decent option from an awkward angle on the right side though

A mercenary is someone who's loyalty is to money. Does anyone genuinely think this is why he's left Arsenal?

No, because Nasri was 24, and was at Arsenal for 2 and a half years.

That makes it worse not better - we supported him through his injuries then he fecks off. You offered him the £220K max.

He's left because he's sick of people shouting 'Loser' at him when he walks down the street. Now he can walk around with people shouting 'Winner' at him and scenes like Rocky unfold where everyone runs with him to the town hall steps

Not sure about that.

I'm sure there were kids wearing Lazio kits when Gazza was playing for them, it doesn't mean they were life long supporters. Obviously Van Persie was Bergkamp mad.

Anywhere in London it'll be 'Judas cnut'.

I would imagine hes sick of playing for old mother hubbard.

The cupboard is bare at arsenal.

If it was just money, he'd be at city.

You've a strange way of looking at things.

Arsenal are a big club. Nasri left for a smaller club who offered more money and more chance of winning trophies. Van Persie left for a bigger club who offered more money and more chance of winning trophies.

Spot the difference.

This deal is good for all parties concerned.

United will get a world-class striker in his prime years who will slot straight in.

Van Persie gets the chance to play in a young, ambitious team and seriously compete for the trophies he is desperate to win.

Arsenal get a terrific fee for a 29 year old in the last year of his contract.

The fact is Arsenal deserve to get this fee. Wenger helped enormously to make him the player he is and I think it is right to acknowledge this.

Ferguson loves his strikers!

I don't think Nasri was a mercenary either. A major part of his move was to win trophies. And he did. Same applies to RVP, but it's obvious - denial is the first stage of depression - that fans will claim the contrary.
