Wonder if he will be ready to play on Monday.

Looks nice! And it's a possibility, I guess.

But Rafael will be back, won't he? If so, it'll free up Valencia for the right-hand side.

Rafael will be back. Endless options for SAF with this squad.

I wonder if we'll ever see an AC Milan 4-1-2-1-2

Van Persie in Inzaghi's role.
Rooney in Shevchenko's.
Kagawa in Rui Costa's/Kaka's role.
Cleverely or Anderson in Seedorf's role.
Carrick in Pirlo's
Valencia in Gattuso's, covering the right-back (Rafael) and bombing forward to the right.

That side was legendary

yes he is good at corners. Something we have been pretty shite on as of late!! That is one of many good things about signing him!!

Very excited about this...its totally reignited my enthusiasm for the season after still having a bit of a hangover from the awful end to the last one..

Come on united.....

Are you kidding? Going wingless with Nani, Valencia, Young and Kagawa in our squad?

If anything that would underscore our midfield weaknesses.

I don't see why people see age as a huge problem here. Real bought Zidane for €65m and Figo for €56m when they were 29 and 28 respectively, I'd argue that both were sensational transfers. Big clubs have been doing it for a long time, buying top players in their prime.

It's just something we might try, being one of Europe's most successful systems of all time and all.

Not saying we use it every week.

Also, Kagawa isn't a winger and Young doesn't deserve a starting place.

It's harsh on Nani but good option off bench to change things around.

I was just about to post this after working out both their ages when they signed for Real.

You just can't please some people.

I'm still coming to terms with this. A genuine world class, finished article from one of our main rivals over the past decade and a half. Bloody hell.

This is completely surreal still. Never thought it would happen.

What a player to bring in though. Not many better players out there you can actually get.

Bring the season, we won't be finishing this one trophyless!

I dont see a big problem in it. Apart from Berbatov and Owen(on a free) we have bought a load of kids in the last few years.

De Gea,Rafael,Fabio,Jones,Smalling,Anderson,Nani,Valencia,Hernandez.etc. Fergie is entitled to a signing like this now and again.

Valencia is a completely different players than Gattuso and could never play the same role, to begin with. Fletcher or Anderson potentially could but I doubt it.

hope he passes the medical. You never know. And personal terms? Can be a bit tricky too.

Btw, it's a fantastic short term deal. I'll be more than happy if he contributed hugely to our success in the next 2 years. Welbeck will take over from there. Less pressure on Welbeck. He'll take his time developing his football. Chicharito will be a great backup striker.

Like i mentioned before, Rooney, van Persie, Welbeck and Chicharito, what a quartet.

I agree, especially when Van Persie is a more ability focused type of player who doesn't rely on his pace. He's the sort of player who should be able to keep up his current level into his 30s, a bit like Drogba did before he started to decline and could only produce it occasionally. We should get a good few years out of him. His only problem is his injury prone nature but that's really improved in the past year or so and I've not got a lot of worries about him in that department really.

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G

Seriously though, when was the last time you were this excited about a transfer? I genuinely cannot think of one.

That is done; we wouldn't have agreed terms with Arsenal unless we were sure agreeing terms with RVP would be unproblematic.
