Bollocks to the disloyal cnut, he's been stinking the place out for the last month anyway. He won't work in tandem with Rooney and the greenscreens will be up before Christmas.

You could say, he's Robbing Van Persie, ey pete?

Why would we be wanting to sell someone of his age? I can understand resale values if you sign a kid, say like Ronaldo, knowing he could eventually move on. A 29 year old, No. I wouldn't be worrying about that too much.

Thats the point. When he finishes his 4 years, he will probably retire.

Sign a young player and we will recoup some money

He is a great player, but we are investing a hugh amount into him. Before last season, he averaged 22 league games a season for Arsenal.

Who gives a feck about resale value?

Jesus, some people really will moan about anything.

Best of a bad bunch, they never report deals until they're actually pretty much done. Seems nobody knows the exact fee, but I'd take their word over the telegraph, for sure.

I find it very difficult to take anything Howard Nurse and Ian McGarry say seriously, I'd probably trust the Telegraph too.

Do we have to announce to the NYSE the fee?

I'm almost certain we don't have to (something to do with either the JOBS act or the whole Cayman Island deal). I'm sure someone with more financial know-how can tell you for sure.

Just had a peek at Piers Morgan's twitter.

hehe.

I like how he tweeted Ashley Cole and Nasri too, as if they give a crap what he thinks. He's so fecking bitter

I reckon Kagawa will start on the bench for the first couple of games.

Rooney & VP up front, Nani & Valencia out wide, Scholes & Carrick in the middle.

I'm not bothered about semantics. This is as huge as it gets.

Something not many have mentioned - he probably has the best left-footed delivery from set pieces and corners in the league. Could be a real difference maker for us from that perspective too. Rooney on right-footed curlers, RvP on left-footed ones.

Best of all? No more Nani or Giggs free kicks!

Hehe. I note that the same people constantly bitching about how the Glazers have hamstrung us in the transfer market are now moaning about us spending too much money. You couldn't make it up...

Yank owners are the pits. All bling and baubles. Cnuts think Old Trafford is Southfork

My excitement has evaporated in the face of the latest FT Index figures.

They moan about cost and resale value, then say football isn't a business.

 good one Pog.

I'm sure someone esle brought it up already but if having him in the squad means us going further than we did last year in the cup comps then it'll be money well spent.

Brian: There's no pleasing some people.
Ex-leper: That's just what Jesus said.

You are not understanding the business of football.

The club is not a trader of football players, its business is football, its commdity is football matches on the pitch.

A players value isnt the difference between his purchase and selling price, because thats not where the businesses income comes from.

His value is on the pitch, if VP's goals get us the champions league, thats £50 million, the Premier League is £30 million or so, thats where the money is, and thats before you even account for the knock on merchandise sales of winning those things,, resale values are insignificant in comparison, barring the odd exception like Ronaldo.

VP is here to aid us winning trophies, resale values are irrelevant.

Agreed. Moments like this don't come that often. The last time was probably Berbatov on the deadline day, but even then, it didn't really feel the same buying from our feeder club ;)

I reckon Kagawa will start on the bench for the first couple of games.

Rooney & VP up front, Nani & Valencia out wide, Scholes & Carrick in the middle.

4-2-3-1?

Valencia Vidic Rio Evra

Carrick Scholes

Nani Rooney Kagawa

RvP

I'd take 22 league games with Van Persie for the next four years. Wouldn't think about it twice.

This re sale value thing some have gotten so obsessed with is ridiculous.

Is this all we think when we sign a young player? What profit we can make when we sell him?

fecking hell, we want players to stay for as long as possible assuming they are doing the business.

If we get 3 good years out of this I will be over the moon. Really we should hope none of out players has any re sale value. As that will mean they have had great years with us until they have no more,

It just got interesting in the Premiership ;)

Congrats, class player...Although if you were going to write a book about RVPs time at Arsenal, it'd lack a title :wenger:

He's also pretty awesome at corners and free-kicks.

If RVP signing means the difference between winning a trophy or not (Especially the CL) He'll be worth every penny.

He doesn't rely on his pace so I can see him being just as deadly at 33/34. Footballers these days (especially the more talented ones) are carrying on well into their 30's.

Anyone else thinking this might still be a fake bid to sell more stadium tours?

Hehe. I note that the same people constantly bitching about how the Glazers have hamstrung us in the transfer market are now moaning about us spending too much money. You couldn't make it up...

I was thinking exactly the same but some people always complain regardless of the situation.

I think that people who are against this signing have to have their heads examined. Seriously.

Van Persie is absolute class, easily one of the top 5 players the last 2 years.

29 still at his peak and big name as you can get.

4-2-3-1?

Valencia Vidic Rio Evra

Carrick Scholes

Nani Rooney Kagawa

RvP

Looks nice! And it's a possibility, I guess.

But Rafael will be back, won't he? If so, it'll free up Valencia for the right-hand side.
