Robin Van Persie signing definitely has that Cantona feeling to it but I don't want to get too carried away just yet. Eric became a cult hero in a flash.

Seeing RVP up top gives me the same assurance I felt with our backline in 07-09. We'd be surprised if we shipped more than one goal in a game back then as we'd be surprised now if we didn't score more than one goal.

Calm down FFS. You prefer some "weather and food is shite" quotes or what? Some can never be happy

if he stays fit for most of the season he will easily be our top scorer and probably the premierships again as well

really impressed with how he and Rooney play together as well

before he signed i said he had a 100 goals left in his boots....i think i might have to raise that to 125-150.

Could easily see us keeping him past his original 4 year contract until he wants to retire.

Who knows whether he will have the same energy in 2 years time, never mind 5. A new manager may have very different ideas as well. I'm enjoying what he's doing for us right now though, that's for sure.

If my calculations are correct, in 10 games starting together, Rooney and RvP have each scored 7 goals. That's fantastic form.

According to the Noggie United supporter's club they have started 12 times together (CL and PL). All 12 games United have won.

They have scored 16 goals and have 14 assists between them in these games. RvP has 9 goals and 5 assists and Rooney has 7 goals and 9 assists.

Pretty decent.

Anyone else want to see us getting a shirt with a collar next year? I suspect RVP might just flick that bad boy up!!

Collared shirts are fecking incredible.

Not as incredible as RVP, mind.

If we regain the title this year...

Really. Not being a smart ass, but what age are you?

19 (almost 20).
I just never liked collared shirts, not on jerseys or even in general, I'm just not "feeling it", although I am aware quite a lot of people enjoy them.
And that's ok, to each their own, but me personally, I doubt I'll ever put on a collared shirt unless I'm forced to.

And I'm gonna guess and say about 80-90% of people who love collared shirts are "older".

I doubt me liking or disliking collared shirts has anything to do with my age, but what the hell, I could be wrong.

The reason for the age thing was IMO the golden age for United shirts was the early 90's when they were all collared and they looked amazing. You would have been born in 94 (maths:wenger:) so you probably don't look back on that period as fondly as some of us do and the cool shirt with Cantona in particular was a part of that.

Anyone remember the first season we got a collarless one. We thought Eric would revolt!!

Yes. I remember a rumor going around that he would walk if there wasn't a collar on.

93, you're right though.
I never "lived" through the Cantona period, and I guess that must've made a lot of people keen to wear collared shirts.
But then again you should now ask yourself, had it not been for Cantona would so many of you still adore collared shirts?

A lot more would have happened/not happened 'had it not been for Cantona'!!

I don't know TBH, I guess I grew up with them, and everyone I know around my age prefers them.

Just wondering how many league goals did RVN scored for United in his debut season at the same stage that season, as compared with RVP?

15 goals and 6 assists before Christmas in his first season here... absolutely fantastic.

Just simply a brilliant footballer and world class finisher. What a signing.

23 here, and I know for a fact I only loved collars because of Eric. Lining up to take a penalty....

Au revoir!!! :smirk:

According to: http://www.aboutmanutd.com/

Surprised to see that he's only scored more than one on only one occassion (that's alot of "O"s )

He could have easily scored a hatrick against Sunderland.

This guy is phenomenal.

Think my figures might have come from pl stats.
